I think that every effect and model they showed in the trailer made it in some form into the game. Pretty sure that's what they were getting at. The dirt particles, the physics, the lighting, the vehicles and animiations are all in the demo on the PSN store. Somethings are even better, like the mud or the destruction models, when you total a truck you can see individual parts fly off like hoses, gears, shocks, etc.Â
CGI and gameplay will never look the same, CGI is alway razor sharp and everything looks conhesive. Realtime will always have aliasing, even the best games have alittle, and models will always look seperate from the environments. Anyone who ever believed that the target render was real time, really had their head in the clouds. Forza 2 is the same deal, no realtime footage has been shown, but people keep posting trailers and screen renders, saying "oooo it's better looking than GTHD"Â
I'm impressed, if it wasn't for the 2D grass, which they could still improve, I'd say it's as close as any game could get to that CGI trailer right now. Despite what the anti-Sony fanboys may say, Motorstorm is downright gorgeous. I absolutely can't wait to play it next month.
The actual game itself does not look as good as the trailer. That doesn't mean the game looks bad, because it looks pretty great actually, but nowhere near as incredible as that trailer. ColoradoKindBudIt's very close. Doing a comparison from 1 perspective (cockpit view from the trailer) and then the 3rd person view from gameplay, it doesn't look the same. However, if you do the cockpit view from in-game footage -- it's actually quite close to the trailer.
[QUOTE="REVENGEotSITH"]Jack Tretton thinks the retail looks better than the trailer. He isn't biased, is he???KeyWiiIt's definitely not better. CGI always looks good because it's always flawless. But I'd say they got about as close as humanly possible at this given date.
I agree that it looks good (not good enough to make me buy a PS3, but good), but I laughed when I read where he thought the retail looked better than the CGI target video. Jack, please, stop treating us like idiots.
Motorstorm looks better than every 360 game for the next 2-3 years. 360 hit its peak with Gears of War and that doesnt even have much draw distance to be comparable to Motorstorm.mskrft007

I agree it will be the best looking game on the market when released though. Gears is fading with time.
I dont know what my problem is, but I just dont think this game is anything great. I really want it to be...but for some reason the gameplay reminds me of last gen. I will say that I think the game looks better than anything i have seen on the 360 or the PS3. I just dont think it feels different from anything else that I have been playing for the last couple of years. Pretty graphics aside, what sets this game apart?chumpion69Well. Physics play a big role in MotorStorm. You are racing the terrain more than you are the other drivers, and picking a different vehicle affects how you will interact with or race the terrain. Thats the best way I can put it.

I get that part of it, but didnt I do that to some extent in other racing games? I dont know, to me it seems like you accelerate, brake, and boost and try to blow up going through the finish line. Hopefully the other levels have some more dimensions.Â

Perhaps -- but just not to the same extreme as we see in MotorStorm. I've only played the old demo so thats the best I have to offer. I really don't know what the final game will play like -- but I do know it looks good.[QUOTE="chumpion69"]Well. Physics play a big role in MotorStorm. I own the demo and it sucks. You crash into the slightest little thing and it goes into slow motion, trying to show impressive physics, that don't deliver. Unless they really improved over the demo I don't see that game doing so great.rexoverbey
http://www.gametrailers.com/player.php?id=16936&type=wmv&pl=gameROFL! Play the latest motorstorm demo, then play gears and tell me which is the graphical god. Not to mention that the gameplay in motorstorm is horrendous. Anyone hyping this over AA is greatly mistaken.

The footage from the game looks VERY close to the trailer. It's all about the perspective it's taken in.

until you match the 10 mile draw distance that was shown in Halo3, please don't talk about draw distances....;)
[QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]Graphical God? it's not. have you ever paused the game and looked at how horrible the 2D sprites look? it makes the crowds in NBA 2K6 look good. :|KeyWiiI don't play the game on paused to scope out 2D sprites. Sorry amigo.
so basically you only hype what you find best about the game and ignore the rest of the junk that shows the ps3's weakness?Â
nice...

that's all I'm saying. there are plenty of horrible textures and ugly 2D sprites everywhere. a graphical "God" (your words, not mine) has to be flawless all around. if the TC called the game "graphical genius", I would agree. But a graphical "god"? sorry, but it's not. can't have ugly textures everywhere and qualify for "godlike" status.[QUOTE="tango90101"]I don't play the game on paused to scope out 2D sprites. To me, it's a game that has the best graphics at it's release -- king of the hill. Your "graphical god" is a flawless game that will never be rivaled, surpassed, or perfected upon in years to come. Which obviously, no game will ever be.[QUOTE="chumpion69"]I dont know what my problem is, but I just dont think this game is anything great. dimar19
A graphical god, no!
A good looking game, yes!
Now if you want graphics that the almighty would approve of then check out Crysis! :o
