But it looks like only 10 % of the current users are willing to buy one.
Will they still suceed ?

It's too late now. They should have introduced Move and Natal over two years ago if they actually wanted it to succeed. The Wii is too far ahead to even care.
I dont get why people would want to get move or natal instead of a wii or to replace the wii. It already has itself worked out and has become a huge success. Seems a little to late.
They'll probably just bundle it with every new console and eliminate the old SKUs. Then release a few exclusive must-have games to get current owners to buy-in (and attract over Wii developers re: Move), and eventually they'll outlast the people who refuse to "upgrade".
That's assuming we have a long console generation here, which I still believe we do.
Natal and Move aren't aimed at current users, they're after the market that wouldn't normally play video games.
But thats the point. They want to expand their consumer base, grab some of that market that the Wii has been dominating. Considering the number of potential consumers that sit in that category they may well not be too worried about the cores purchasing desires in terms of these two peripherals...designer-
Exactly. I'm still interested in both, but there's no question they'resimply trying to expand the user base and grab a slice of Nintendo's non-gamer pie.

Natal and Move need core user adoption as much as they need them to be a success with 'teh casual.'

A "casual" does not have to be lacking in funds or in the desire to spend their money on pretty toys. They dont have to beat the Wii in price but in perceived value. If marketed correctly a more casual consumer could see the jump between the move and the wii, or natal and the wii, to be the same as a jump between a Dynex HDTV and fancy Toshiba Plasma.

I think this is also a way of making it harder for Nintendo to successfully market a Wii HD, by effectively beating them to the punch.
Is this really just about casuals though? I think Sony and Microsoft honestly believe these two new devices will change the way people play games, and nothing would make them happier than to see them adopted whole-sale across both casual and hardcore audiences. I say this with a particular emphasis on Sony's Move, since it should technically be capable of replacing the old PS3 gamepad in the same vain that the Wii's controls replaced traditional controls.
..
Natal is a different product entirely which MS will have to market so that it stands on its own two legs. It directly competes with the Wii as in that it goes for the same market, but MS's job will be to market the product in such a way that it will look as much if not more fun than the Wii. The family add, kids playing Godzilla, all the marketing up to this point has been an example of MS using a unique product to encroach on developed territory. How successful they will be is anyones guess, but given what they have promised for E3, I would say you would not go to far wrong in betting they are going to give it everything they have...I think this is also a way of making it harder for Nintendo to successfully market a Wii HD, by effectively beating them to the punch.Business is monkey see monkey do. One does well, earns some supernormal profits, more run in and everything gets back to an even keel. Natal and Move is a natural byproduct of the Wii's success. I dont know if Natal or Move will ever replace the gamepad but right now, today, this is mostly about the casual market. Thats were the Wii is making its money, and thats were MS and Sony want to make some money as well...Is this really just about casuals though? Uh... how so. when i look at the software that helped the Wii sell i see mario, wii sports and wii fit. I dont see any move software that has similar brand recognition same with natal your so called godzilla game is probably not going to sell as much as new super mario bros wii did last year[QUOTE="Storm_Marine"][QUOTE="farnham"]

It was a secret to the people that didn't know it was a secret that now know it's a secret because some people don't know it's a secret. well nobody seems to recognize the move and the natal exists so they are secret weapons at this pointUh... how so. when i look at the software that helped the Wii sell i see mario, wii sports and wii fit. We dont know what games will be available for the peripherals. Not to count that in MS's case the majority of their advertising will go to educating the consumer about how their new product works. Im not really sure what we have gotten into debating here, but to kind of bring it round circle. It does not really matter that the current consumer is not too interested, they are not the primary target market. If they adopt the product then great, but clearly based on the Moves similarities to the Wii, and Natals current advertising, it is not about them...
edit: annoying quotation errors....
I think people are going to be surprised. Natal has an incredibly good hook, no controller. I remember last year when they first showed it, I showed a few people at my job the clips and they really liked it.
Marketing is going to make or break both Natal and Move. The Wii has been out for awhile people might start looking for the new hotness.
Normal consumers are pretty fickle. The Wii may not be the cool Christmas present this year especially since so many people have one.
No, it's not a secret weapon. They know that whatever they will do, Nintendo will counter with Wii 2 close after the release of those things. Move and Natal are just the first, but necessary, steps to enter that kind of gaming, but I don't think they expect to do much this gen, in that regard.
Yeah...it has no games.I think people are going to be surprised. Natal has an incredibly good hook, no controller. I remember last year when they first showed it, I showed a few people at my job the clips and they really liked it.

Well it hasn't released, so why would it?
There are games in development though.
Ubisoft alone states they have wish to have games available within the first 6 months of release. Capcom is also working on "stuff" for Natal.
Dude Ubisoft? Raving rabbits fame...if they have no games announced by E3 it will not sell. What have we seen? A dodgeball game and talking to a kid game about his day. A fake kid. Sony on the other hand is straight up jacking nintendo's wii boxing and swords and dragons games...ripoff artist!IWKYB
You said they had no games, I said there are games planned. We also don't know the quality of games that are being developed.
What we do know, is that games *are* in fact being developed. The quality is unknown until we at least see something in regards to them.
[QUOTE="heretrix"]Yeah...it has no games.Oh yeah, that. I guess Microsoft forgot. :|I think people are going to be surprised. Natal has an incredibly good hook, no controller. I remember last year when they first showed it, I showed a few people at my job the clips and they really liked it.

of course. before this gen started and the first pics of each system were shown people said the wii would fail . but as soon as the price for each system came out and everyone played wii sports everyone was in love with the wii. im sure both sony and ms will have that games that sucks pppl in....Natal should be called move and move should be called natal. The names make more sense this waygenarollnatal should be called move and move should be called the ps wand
wii is aimed at a different market than the hd consoles..... why are there so many threads baout 360. ps3 vs wii???? ps3 / 360 is geared towards serious games..... hence half the librarys being rated m..... wii is geared towards everyone else..... ...... different market..... move and natal however were made to be competitors with wii... but will fail to do so because most people bought wii for the nintendo 1st partys. wii has mario,zelda,metroid.... and a slew of shovelware... sony a ms must be thinking (how long can nintendo keep repackaging the same products?) so thye made their move.... well see if it was a smart one at e3.
It won't work. It isn't the motion controls that makes Wii popular. It's how easy it is to get involved for casual players, and how wide of a library it has. I can get a natal for my 360 but it's still going to be full of shooters and generic action games.

And remember though, if as some Lems and cows would have you believe, that Natal and Move is for "new consumers" and to "attract the Wii Consumer Crowd", most likely, these people would not have a X360 or PS3. If say, Move is at 99, and Natal at 100, that means to get the whole kitten kapoddle, they need to spend another 100-200 to get a X360 and PS3 if not bundled. If bundled, the price would be the same...I do not think Ms or Sony would take a loss on the hardware this time around after what happened. The end result is, consumers will ask, "Ok, just WTF differences between the Wii and this, this, thing of ma jiggy?" If consumers asked that, then Natal and Move is in serious trouble!
