MS and Nintendo are releasing almost all of what's left of their big franchises at the end of this year. What I mean by that is, the games that sold really well on previous gen systems, the NEW games in those franchises are being almost totally used up THIS year. After that, they really don't have much else. Nintendo will still have pikmin, starfox and maybe mario kart, and MS will still have Banjo and Fable. I'm not bashing the games themselves, I realize that they both have great exclusive games coming this holiday, but all I'm saying is they shouldn't use up most of thier games all at once like this.
Sony, on the other hand, while having a great exclusive lineup this yearas well, is making sure next year, and the year after also has plenty of BIG exclusive franchises that will be coming to PS3 for the first time.
Here is how things generally work when talking about system sellers (that were on previous consoles): If you have a game that sold really well on a previous platform, there is going to be a greater chance that the game will be anticipated by the owners of that game. And when a new console comes out, that game will have a higher chance of selling systems than a lesser known game. Once that first game comes out, ussually it's done it's damage in terms of selling systems, which is why you see the second or third game in a franchise that is on a particular consoles sales decrease sometimes (MGS3 and GT4 for example). There ARE expetions, but this is generally how it happens. If MS and Nintendo release most of thier BIG franchises in ONE holiday season, they will burn up alot of momentum, and they will expose a big disadvantage.
