Microsoft doubling down on pc gaming
What do you guys think?
Maybe if MS never abandoned PC gaming in the first place...

Microsoft is going to support a platform for which they can make the most money.
They're going to focus on the 360 because they don't have to worry so much about pirating on that system.
They'll say whatever they want to get people interested, but realistically I don't see this happening or at least not in the capacity that that statement makes.
People owning Xbox360 and a MAC? A really bright future for MS :lol:Microsoft is going to support a platform for which they can make the most money.

Valve and Blizzard are making a killing of PC, despite piracy.Microsoft is going to support a platform for which they can make the most money.

Making some service that lets people buy games won't really do anything in my opinion. Getting people to buy games through some windows service that they can buy without it won't really improve PC gaming at all. They have to start producing PC exclusive games, or if not exclusive, at least better games for PC.Sephyzerowell they're starting. I mean yes its only 1 full game, an online RTS, and a port of an Action adventure RPG; but they have stated that that just the beggining of the games. There'll be more to come I just hope its good stuff.
A Fable 3 delay and a idiot version of Age of Empires isn't doubling down.
Mystic-G
and yet you've played neither.
there's also the new flight simulatorA Fable 3 delay and a idiot version of Age of Empires isn't doubling down.

The first game I mentioned doesn't require me to play it in order to make the statement true. Secondly, the new AoE is a dumbed-down version of it. Any person with at least one eye can tell that much.[QUOTE="AiurProtoss"][QUOTE="Mystic-G"]

That's nice. Just saying all that I need to say."One obvious place where Microsoft's new Games For Windows store may have the upper hand on Steam is how it handles digital rights management.
Where Steam uses a single proprietary system, Games for Windows will have a much more flexible approach.
The Marketplace will work with nearly all forms of digital rights management, Microsoft told Kotaku. Instead it will allow publishers to submit a pre-protected or unprotected build of their game with their choice of DRM. Microsoft will then distribute the builds on the Marketplace along with the appropriate activation keys."
This is the dumbest thing I've seen today.

I'm a fan of AOE so I will.
Well, it's nice to see them take GFWL seriously. Here's hoping it takes off. Cross platform play is a huge plus for things like fighters, etc.
I'd also like the so cross-platform play on racing games. But here's to hope, which is all there really is here.Well, it's nice to see them take GFWL seriously. Here's hoping it takes off. Cross platform play is a huge plus for things like fighters, etc.

if they really care about PC gaming the would release Gears 3 and Reach for the PCJ-WOWand then where would the Xbox be?
Too little and too late. Valve has already beat them to the punch with Steam, and their effort in the current Live platform is still disappointing.

Glad to see both MS and PC publishers are still in touch with what the consumer wants.
[QUOTE="J-WOW"]if they really care about PC gaming the would release Gears 3 and Reach for the PCbobabanYeah, truthfully if they really cared they would. Especially as those are so easy to port over. and then console gamers would accuse them of abandoning the xbox (specially now with that crap known as kinect)

...Which is why they aren't going to pursue the PC as a game outlet as much as their 360. They've poured billions (with a "B") into Kinect. For them to just turn around and support the PC exclusives would be crippling to their profits.

The way I see it, their "renewed" interest in the PC scene is mostly just a matter of rereleasing GFWL as a competitor to Steam aka opening anotehr digital store.
No thx, MS dominating PC gaming sounds about as bad as Apple buying Sony.

They already do dominate pc gaming you have to install their lame os to play games on
Well, if MS wants to brainwash me into a believer, they better come out with Combat Flight Simulator 4. I liked CFS 2 and 3. I was hoping there'd be a 4th installment.

ideally they should get studios that would solely focus on the PC and studios that solely focus on the 360
but I doubt that will happen

M$ aint dumb, They will still cash in big time if they release Gears 3 on 360 as an "exclusive" and then like 6 months later release it on the PC

yeah because the original xbox isn't criticized for having most of it's exclusives on the PC or anything...oh wait it is
