The Series S is running on more advance architecture than the One X, that's the big difference. So it means nothing that the One X has more TFs than the Series S, the Series will still match it in that department, or surpass it.

But the Switch has IMO exclusives that are much more enjoyable to a broader range of people. Everybody knows who Mario is. Mario Kart, Smash Brothers, LoZ titles, plus the retro stuff Nintendo is putting out on the Switch I feel attracts more people to that console than the slightly lower price tag. So, it's not necessarily saving $100 that has it selling so well.

While this is true. People with a collection on PS4 are likely fans of games like Uncharted. The likes of which you're not going to find on Xbox. I don't think people will cut themselves off from future installments of their favorite exclusives to get a couple more TFLOPS.

Well, it does have portability going for it as well, but it's still the much less powerful, cheaper option. And I disagree on the exclusives. They have a lot of them, but more of the same old same old Nintendo stuff that we've seen dozens of times before. That doesn't really appeal to core gamers. I can only name a few that would seriously make PS and Xbox gamers buy a switch, and those are-

- LoZ: Breath of the Wild

- Xenoblade Chronicles 2

- Octopath Traveller

I know, because I actually like those games, as an Xbox One and PS4 owner.

Xbox X-Series S isn't a upgrade for Xbox One X owners IMO if I had a x there is no way going to series S. Thats not a jump worth 300 dollars.

Sony left the possibility out there when they revealed there is a ps5 digital. MS needed to dodge that dangerous bullet. Probably why it took them a while to reveal the worst kept secret. The RX5300 is 4.6TF RDNA 1 this is 4TF RDNA2 which biggest improvement is power per watt,ray tracing vrs but at its core is RDNA 1,so this would be a weak sauce machine with 4TF.

A console running at 1440p 60/120fps that has true next gen performance and features at $300 is gonna be hard to pass up for the average gamer. Even most Sony fans will dip into the Xbox now.

Most gamers don’t have 4k TV’s and a console that is cheap that will display at 1080 crisp and clear with the ability to upscale to 4k until they upgrade is a hard strategy to beat.

Unless PS5 Digital edition is $300/$350 Xbox has a potential leveling system this gen and Game Pass is too appealing to pass up. Especially with more developers joining for example EA joining Game Pass.

Your average consumer isn't going to look at it like that. They'll be thinking along the lines of: "I want to play GTA VI, what's the cheapest system I can get to play it on?".

We need digital foundry to run some Series S vs Xbox One X, we need compare the resolutions and the graphics and all that between these 2 consoles if x is hitting harder this is system is done.

Hell my 1650 super which is like $160 GPU can play fornite in 1440p at more than 120FPS depending on the settings.

I was blasting shadow of mordor un ultra at 90FPS in 1080p,which is a last gen game just like Gears,and actually is more open world than gears.

Just because it can run 1440p doesn't mean it is next gen i am sure the xbox one X can do that at more than 60FPS and unless the CPU becomes a pitfall at 120FPS as well depending on the game an settings.

One thing I noticed with MS is that they put ERP (Estimated Retail Price) beside their release prices, I think they may have did that to allow them to act/react to Sony's price if it undercuts them by a lot.

This is not a transition situation from ps3 to ps4 or Xbox 360 to Xbox one. Sony has upper hand and by far for now, just put a competitive price on Ps5 and they'll be fine. Microsoft is the one that has to turn the situation around 180º as Sony did at the time with Ps3 and I don't think they'll have it easy when their first party games will just be ready in two or three years after launch.

This was a smart, but necessary, move by Microsoft. They know they can't compete when there is price parity. The Series X will likely be a sales disaster, leaving the Series S to prop up hardware numbers. These two options are good for their brand.

Sony could price their PS5 at $450 and undercut them, or hell, $399 would keep a ton of gamers in the Sony camp.

Even if PS5 releases at $499, many gamers know that Sony will work toward exclusive games more often, thus bringing the value up even if they are the same price.

If they were the same price, there's no way I'd get an X Series X over a PS5, just because of exclusives. Although, I have a gaming PC, so that might be swaying me.

You're acting like the Series X isn't a thing. They'll have to undercut the Series X in price or match it to be able to make up for that power difference. As for the Series S, history has shown that the weaker system will sell more or as much as the more powerful system if it's at a much cheaper price. The Xbox 360 is an example of that. The 360 was weaker than the PS3, but still outsold it in the first half of last gen largely due to being 300 bucks cheaper. Most console games are multiplat, so casuals and gamers on a budget will go for the $200 cheaper option that can play most of same games they wanna play.

It is an upgrade, whether or not some people want to admit it. While you may not, others will, as they'd like to buy into the next generation of games that won't be available on the One. Of course, if a One X owner wants to stay with the One X for a while, MS doesn't seem to care as long they're buying into the Xbox ecosystem.

Depends on what's more important to them. Long term positive software sales or shorter term negative hardware sales.

No it did not,the 360 sold almost 10 million units in its first year,after that world wide the PS3 started to outsell it world wide without problems,even at a higher price point all generation long.

1. It's not that hard to figure out. Based on the hardware in the system, especially the expensive SSD, Sony would not be able to cut it down to $399 without risking selling it at a loss. $450 is more resonable, but not quite enough of a difference in price between it and the Series X for most people.

2. Wrong. Doesn't matter if it outsold it in the rest of the world, it was still trailing behind the 360 in general sales. The cheaper console.
