[QUOTE="musicalmac"][QUOTE="AdrianWerner"]Depends. It is more realistic, but it will always look worse graphicaly and a large part of MS' Flight Sims charm is the insane third-party add-on community, which X-Plane simply lacks. Converters help a little, but they're far from perfect and are very limited.
Anyway, I'm just glad sim genre is enjoying such a nice ressurgence. We are getting multiple competing products in pretty much every sub category. I actualy have a back log of simulation games. A BACKLOG! Who would have though it would happen again? :)

X-Plane does not lack a 3rd party community. There are plenty of people out there making models. X-Plane also has some of the more insane mods out there, re-entry from space (space shuttle), space shuttle launch, space flight (with real physics), giant mechs... MS Flight is prettier, but not so much prettier that it nullifies all the strengths of X-Plane.I heard REX is out for X-Plane 9. I may end up buying it to tide me over until X-Plane 10 is out.
As for resurgence..... Flight sims didn't really disappear. The pretenders got weeded out. What's left are the heavyweights with staying power.
Between FSX, X-Plane 9, and DCS: Black Shark, I have all the flight sims I can handle. The only one missing is Storms of War: Battle of Britain. Its predecessor (IL2 series) is getting long in the tooth. I wish Oleg maddox will hurry up and finish it already.
No love for Rising Sun? :) People are really missing out on games by that team. they offer really unique experience no other sim can replicate.Plus shame on you for not playing WWI flight sim ;)
