If MS want to keep the lead they need to match Sonys price drop. Also The 360 has been out the longest, if any of the consoles should drop the price it's 360.demoralizer
No the ps3 is still 100(200 if you buy the worthless core) more than the 360
Microsoft won't drop to fall around halo's launch so it won't seem like they're affected by something sony does

Are these announced price drops at things like E3 taking into effect straight away or months later? Never really followed it before.
I dunno, maybe they will. They certainly can afford it.BigDizz
If anyhing they should drop the premy to 300, kill the core, and drop the elite to 400
Isnt 360 the greatest thing ever created?..Why would it need a price drop to sustain the lead.SiLkYsHoT33
i like 360 but that border line fakeboy right there

They will drop the price or get surpassed by Nintendo's Wii. Is that simple.

Good Theory, although I dont think a price drop would keep it ahead of the Wii at any rate.

Remind me to post a topic about why the wii may have already won this gen. Ms and Sony compete agianst each other for the Long time gamers that will buy a wii and a tradtional console[QUOTE="Silvereign"][QUOTE="soiguessialive"][QUOTE="demoralizer"]If MS want to keep the lead they need to match Sonys price drop. You probably meant any expected price drop would keep it ahead of the wii. Because they could drop it $300 and then it would sell like a coffee in Seattle.
The 1 billion dollars they're spending they're spending on this whole broken 360 thing might prevent Microsoft from dropping the price. In fact, it might prevent Halo 3 from pushing Microsoft's gaming division into the black.Onizuka36
too bad your wrong, MS has like 70 billion dollars and they can throw away a few billion and not be hurt, where have u people been the last 12 years
MS has the money to do it dont worry

Huh? You know you can get your 360 replaced for free right? Also, previous to the extended warrenty, the cost would have been $140 bucks. Still cheaper then paying for the core.

Here's a new one for you. They just spent $1.15 billion fixing broken consoles. Price drop? In our dreams.

Just because they have 70 billion dollars doesn't mean they're just going to throw a few away. Microsoft is eventually going to have to look at the big picture and decide if video games is a profitable indever. Microsoft's gaming division has yet to make a profit (this includes the original Xbox). Halo 3 was supposed to finally change that. This new change of events could prevent Halo 3 from pushicg the 360 into the black.
I realize the 360 will eventually get a price drop too, I'm just speculating that we may have to wait a little longer.
Didn't Microsoft already say they weren't going to cut the price when these rumors first started? I remember them giving a compelling fall software lineup as a reason. RurouniSaiyajin
Only an idiot would admit a price drop before it took effect. Sony's pricedrop info was leaked, not an official statement.
