MS plans to release tons of exclusive games and world premieres.  Megatons incoming.

Microsoft has discussed its plans for next Tuesday's Xbox Reveal event, confirming that next week's announcement will be about "laying the foundation" and taking an "inside look at the making of the new [Xbox] platform and the team that's brought it to life," before revealing "tonnes of exclusives" at next month's E3.

"We're really going to tell one story across two events," explained Microsoft's IEB chief of staff Aaron Greenberg on the latest episode of Major Nelson's podcast. "So we're going to start on the 21st, and really that's about revealing the next Xbox platform; our vision for the future of games, the future of entertainment.

"We definitely have a lot of surprises planned," Greenberg continued. "I know everyone knows the Infinity Ward team is hard at work on world premiering Call of Duty: Ghosts, so we're going to see what that looks like for the first time.

"People are going to get a great inside look at the making of the new platform and the team that's brought it to life. To be honest, it's really about the team, the people here. That's why we're inviting people to campus; we're going to bring them behind the scenes a little bit. We've never done this before and so it's really exciting to be able to do that. It's a lot of laying the foundation, probably the best way to describe it. And then just a couple of weeks later we go to E3."

Microsoft will use E3 to reveal more about the titles headed to the next Xbox, Greenberg says.

"E3 is all about the games," he continues. "At E3, I mean, if you're a gamer, it's going to be tonnes of exclusives, world premieres, and obviously even beyond that we have a lot to share between then and this holiday."

I admit I'm excited guys.

PR Aaron Greenburg, he's a guy who's paid to say what needs to be said, and once again we are being subjected to his direction again in SW.:? Don't expect honesty, but do expect HYPE for his product he's paid to HYPE, just like any PR man.

Oh, and no one gives a shit about world premieres. Those aren't exclusive games, they are just shown first at one conference or another, they mean nothing in the end game. Exclusives mean something though, so we'll see.

PR from companies mixed with speculation? That always goes well.

Who are making these tons of exclusives? Because if it's 3rd party, they won't be exclusive for long. That's what we saw with Xbox and Xbox 360, and so all this talk of exclusives make me wonder where they suddenly will spring from.

I wager just more Timed Exclusive contracts with NDA's to confuse the kids into believing they aren't timed.

Unless they're talking lower budget Kinect 2.0 exclusive titles, I could see that happen.

I like Ms's strategy of having a ton of exclusives at the first years of the gen. Better to have a strong lineup of exclusives at launch than to have them spread out accross the whole gen like Ps3 did.

Yes because suddenly they understand what we want and care about the core and suddenly a dozen developers will say 'we got paid so much that we will make games exclusive for the pizzabox and give up on 3/4th the userbase'.
This seems less than likely.

Exclusives from who? Considering the hardware of the 720 and PS4 will be similar, I find it stupid not to make the game you're working on a multiplat. The Xbox brand doesn't represent gaming anymore, it represents multimedia (Games, Video and Music). This is a conference for the world to see and I doubt Microsoft wants to tell the world that Xbox is simply about gaming; it goes against what they are trying to achieve with the Xbox brand. I think this conference will mostly be about Microsoft overall vision for the 720 and it mostly involves XBL. Skype, IPTV, new OS integrated w/ Windows 8 etc. Nonstop-Madness

They're what defines a brand, without that definition there's no point in a brand. We'll see what MS has to deliver, but I wouldn't hold my breath with their shitty track record. Hoping MS gives me a reason to buy their system, they'll have to earn my dollar. Relying on exclusive COD marketing and DLC isn't defining a brand and does no favors for the Xbox brand in the long run.

I also think its gonna be a mixture of games. Just talking about exclusives. Plus I think MS are gonna buy a ton of third party exclusives and maybe even developers.

^ Ico SOC collections are not exclusive.. Neither are the MLB the Show games. Funny how cows always add those to the "exclusive" lists but leave off the likes of Left 4 Dead, The Witcher 2 and others for the 360. :roll: OhSnapitz

Those games can easily have sequels come to the PS4, actually,  the Witcher 3 is coming to PS4 as we speak. MS needs to make their own in house games like Sony. Do you disagree? It would be better for the Xbox brand instead of only relying on 3rd party.
