What serious 360 gamer would own a 360 w/o a HDD? MS should give developers the option of developing exclusively for 360s with the HDD attachment. They could slap a sticker or a logo or something on the game box that states that the HDD is required to play so (most?) casual consumers can understand.

There would be a serious backlash and possible lawsuits. When they bought the 360 w/o an HDD it was still able to play all games, if that is taken away I don't know what would happen. Something ugly....

Or at least drop the outrageous price of individual HDDs.

Well, they said they would never do that & that developers are supposed to make their games assuming that not everyone has the HDD.

I don't disagree that it would make life easier for the devs & probably make the games better as well, (loadtimes, etc), but people who don't have HDD's, (and not everyone does), would be seriously pissed if they were forced to buy one. Especially considering how expensive the HDD's are to purchase seperately.

Agreed. Or make some sort of enclosure that'll allow users to supply their own HDDs like the PS3 does.

No argument here. Having 2 different sku's was a dumb idea IMO.

Devs didnt make use of the HDD last gen.

MS figured they wouldnt again.

I think the Pro should be removed so you have the Elite and the Core available. Games should be made so that they can take advantage of the HD but not make it necessary

I know. I got a Core 360 at Christmas. I had to spend nearly £100 getting the HDD and everything else I needed. I know they're trying to make it more affordable, but it's pretty limiting to developers and gamers.

Devs should be encouraged to take advantage of the hardrive but to make it nessacary. The core version of the console should have included the 4 Gig of space for CASHING ONLY.

They should but they won't. Non-standard HDD ruins the biggest advantage of having a HDD in the first place... caching for load times. Kills giant open environment games that rely on streaming. It showed in Oblivion 360 load times and GTA4 probably got severely limited by it.

times have changed, games are getting bigger and better, standards have risen. gamers don't like long load times if they can be helped

If they start to make games or make devs to develop games that require HDD, yes they will get into a lawsuit.

MS can't abandon the core version. They screwed HDD standard for themselves.

what i dont understand is that you can get a 500gb external hardrive for less than the 360's 20gb, i simply don't know how they get away with it. Absolutely outrageous practice if you ask me.
