MS won this gen, can they beat Sony again when it comes to

Parental Controls?

(this will be a great test of system wars age range)

Anyone with a PS3 looking at keeping the chil'rens from turning it on any time, away from mature games, away from online chats, internet browsing, etc. has found a big weakness. Not only is there no way to set a password for system sign-in, you also have to keep the main account set to save online password and allow auto-sign-in in order to take advantage of the auto-update feature.

Meanwhile, over at Microsoft, there is a *plethora of parental control features on the Xbox 360.

And we all know it can get even better.

So, will Sony step up to the plate? Can they match or surpass MS? Can MS stack on much more to stay above Sony? Will more than 5 posters have a care in the world about next-gen parental controls?

I haven't seen either company discuss this topic at much length. If you have solid info, pass it on.

Meanwhile, over the course of this generation, I have had two children. One of which is now a gamer. He loves playing on the PS3 and I love allowing him, when the time is right and with the right content. He's young, though, easy to manage.

In a year or two, that wont be the case.

Most kids will be able to defeat the parent controls. This is only an issue if you have kids. Hard to say how many families actually game together. Or if teenagers just will play Xbox One or PS4 on their own. Or how many gamers have kids? A lot of people would have given up on videogames before settling down and reproducing offspring.

The final tally of how wins the 7th gen will be determined on Nov 22 2013 the launch of Xbox one which is the last 8th generation console to launch. Thus the next Console era can begin. Currently it is about 79 Million for PS3 and 78 million for Xbox 360. for second place.

The kids and their parents really do care either way regarding parental controls. The younglings will be playing Call of duty and GTA V, Halo and Gears of war and Battlefield. In your teens and pre-teens first person shooters and the like are a huge deal. The parents really do care as Xbox One and PS4 will keep the kids out of the way. Unlikely many people would have used parental controls anyway. If they did tech savey kids will defeat the password with ease. Most middle aged parents are useless at technology.

I think Nintendo has the family entertainment area covered pretty well. Just my opinion.

Let kids play what they want, its just games it aint real. The 1% of parents that use them need to grow up. Real life and movies have a lot more boobies and violence xD.

I'd be more worried about censoring TV than video games honestly.

On my directv boxes I can set which TV ratings are allowed. And the ratings I set are equal to the ratings I see for the show. Unlike the PS3 that has me set ratings of 1-5, where the actual games are rated E, E-10+, T, MA, etc. On my directv boxes I can also choose which channels even show in my guide.

My TV is waaaaay easier and better at helping me manage what is and what isnt shown to my children.

My parental control is me with the tv. Only one tv in the house.

I'm a parent to 6 year old twin girls, I'm an enthusiastic gamer, I'm middle aged (43) and I'm very tech savvy. I think what you're forgetting here is that video gaming started with the generation who are now middle aged. In fact the average age of a 'gamer' is 35!

TC, MS didn't win anything as your title suggests, at best, and only if you don't count PC, Xbox 360 came a debatable 2nd behind the Wii.

Opinion and fact are very different things. It's a fact that more Wii units have been sold than Xbox 360's or PS3's and seeing as Nintendo, Sony and MS are all about selling console units (the reason they blow millions on exclusive content) the winner is fairly obvious. What the console is doing now or how many games people bought for them is irrelevant.

On a side note to that out of the top 10 exclusive best sellers for the 7th gen consoles, Wii has 7.

Any game I deem not suitable for 'chillins, is not accessible to them. If they want to play it, the condition is, I am there supervising.

Cows will claim the PS3 won 2nd place, but Sony hasn't confirmed anything. Microsoft hasn't confirmed anything. We all know the Wii won this generation anyways, so 2nd & 3rd place are irrelevant anyways.
