MS:Halo 3-Sony has nothing like it.. Arrogant much?! Link

I must say this guy is very bold to come right out and just say "Sony has nothing like it" I mean especially how right now everyone seems to be hating on the graphics for this game, I dont think this guy is in any position right now to say about Halo 3 "Sony has nothing like it" and especially considering this guy has no idea how Killzone will turn out, If killzone actually turns out to be leaps and bounds better than Halo 3, this guy will be eating his words..

Atleast now 360 fans cant accuse sony of being "arrogant" anymore since MS is the same way.

Except that Halo 3 is almost a sure thing.

Killzone is abig question mark.... I would even say that it's an uphill battle at this point.

:lol: This isn't about graphics. He's talking about the mass appeal that the Halo franchise has. Even if it has so-so graphics by the time it is released, it will still sell millions.

If you count only TP, Halo probably sells more as a SINGLE title, overall, Sony has more.

GT3 sold about as much as Halo 1 and 2 put together...

Plus Sony has more than 3 (4?) sucessful franchises.... but there biggest is still bigger than MS's biggest....

Now you're just grasping.

If course MS has to take Sony seriously.  They were the market leaders last gen and have a stronger brand presence.

But the way things are turning out, I'm willing to bet that Sony's just little more worried about MS than the other way around.

And I'm sorry... Phil Harrison made direst comparisons between XBL and PSN.  And I think we know how that's turned out so far.

Actually, halo and halo 2 weren't exactly exclusive because they were both on the pc, which might make halo 3 the same.

See, this is why this place doesn't work sometimes. The quoted talking heads world, i.e. "industry" see sales as king. Nothing for the PS3 will sell like Halo 3 holiday 07, so at least in that respect there is nothing like it. The rest is all opinion.Riverwolf007

Holiday 07, your probably right.... overall this generation? It will probably Pokemon, gran turismo, and possibly mario as the top EXCLUSIVE spots..

Considering Halo was a dubbed down port for the PC and Halo 2 sounds like it is headed that way, plus both games took 2 to 3 years to even get to the PC, I consider them exclusive, but of course you can have the "Wii version" if you buy the PC version. Halo 3 will be no different, but it will probably outsell both games combined.

As far as the shortcomings go, the only shortcoming Halo 2 had IMO was the SP, which from the sound of things, Halo 3 will have an epic SP since Bungie has been working on it for over 3 years now.

I'm pretty sure Halo 2 broke Spider-man 2's first day sales record, a pretty big accomplishment. The problem is that these types of sales could not continue on a console with approximately 1/4 the fanbase of the PS2. Halo is pretty damn big, considering the fanbase of the xbox.

Agreed. MS is worried about Sony.  Why would MS even use the statement saying "Sony has nothing like it"?  MS releasing Elite 360 to try to "match" the PS3.  I've said this all along.  MS is scared of Sony, not Nintendo.

The fanbase argument is stupid, thats like saying Halo unboutably would have sold 28 million copies on ps2...

Larger install bases mean more varied consumers, more game competition, etc, it means each game sells less... 

ANYWAY, sorry, not the point...

I dont know how quickly games such as GT 1,2,3, GTA 3, VC, and SA, etc sold... but I'm sure it's close to how fast Halo 2 sold, heck, i'd bet that GTA VC and SA sold faster than Halo when they first released..

Not that it matters... I'm sure publishers only care about overall sales.. after they spend 1-3 years on a game

I call it a difference of opinion. Any game to me that is on a console or PC for 2 to 3 years and then another platform gets that game, but it is pretty much crap, I consider that game to be exclusive. Even if it is good I still consider it exclusive, especially if the game is good considering the hype for the game is all but dead and it normally is an after thought even when it launches. Case and point, Halo 2. With Halo 3 on the horizon and the BETA coming out in a few days, it is basically an after thought now.

As far as the SP goes for Halo 2, different strokes for different folks. I thought it was crap, but I know some who loved it and played through it many of times. Once again, difference of opinion.

Sony doesn't have anything like the Blockbuster Halo is.  He's right.  Not arrogant.

He IS right though. Ps3 does have nothing like Halo. Halo executes in all areas, including graphics. They just don't just apply HDR bloom everywhere in the Halo universe. I haven't seen one Killzone novel released, yet a Halo novel makes best seller list for a few weeks: it just shows how deep the Halo universe is. It was never a game for casuals despite Halo 2 being marketed toward casuals (see trailers before special movies like King Arthur at Loews Theatres)

 He is right. There isnt one ps3 game that people are going to line up for by the ridiculous amount. Even MGS4 wont have that big of a launch line going out the door. MGS4 isnt media "whored" like Halo is. He is right. He isnt being arrogant. He's just...right.

Halo was a truly brilliant SP game that made the Xbox, Halo 2 was a brilliant MP game that made Xbox Live, Halo 3 will make the Xbox 360 and if it has the combined qualities from Halo and Halo 2, it deserves its success.
