The Question is what would you rather have 1 or 2 disc.

If gears of war had the same exact game but one had 2 dvd's and the other had 1 DVD wich would you buy(Example)

This will end the debate if Multidisc is perfered. I don't see anyone minus Fanboys saying they rather have a Multidisc game than the same exact game on 1 disc.

So vote if you can get the same exact game on 1 disc compared to 2 wich would you buy.

Don't care about the whole 'it's on two discs, woe is I' crap. I'm not so lazy that I'll complain about having to get off my worthless ass and walk a few feet to switch a disc after 12 hours of gameplay.

Anyways, this is a stupid situation. Why in the hell would a company release a two disc version of a game when they can fit it on one? It makes no sense.

I don't get it. If having the game on multidiscs doesn't add anything, then what's the point?

If one console had the game on multiple discs and was cheaper, I would buy it on that console.

Why would I want 2 discs if I can get it in one? Unless there's a special features disc that's bundled, then that changes everything. gnutux

Now, let's put in the part of the equation you removed to serve your purposes:

If, in order to choose the 1 DVD version, you had to pay a $200 USD fee when you first choose (not everytime you choose, just the first time), which would you prefer?

thats the point so why is the argument of DVD9 and Blueray such a big deal when obviously if the game can fit on 1 compared to 2 and it's the same game you rather have 1 disc. how can anyone argue against that i have no idea

It has never bothered me in the past. Examples I can think of are the PS1 FFs, Killer 7, and RE4.

I didnt really mind switching tapes for long movies back in the VHS days.

People argue against it because the console that has Blu-Ray costs $200 more than the 360.

You have completely skewed the situation. There are NO games released that use more discs than they have to, minus the CE variants with bonus content. That would be as useful as Theodore Roosevelt's legs. If a PS3 version of a game is on one disc and a 360 version has two, then you have something. But still, the majority of people would have no trouble walking a few steps and exchanging a disc after multiple hours of playing.

Okay the original Riven had 5 disks. Which means you had to switch each island. However, they made a DVD version. The original probably costs five dollars. The DVD probably costs 10. I'd get the DVD. I hate how everyone is trying to sound cool and tough by saying "oh multiple disks are awesome!" Sure, when done properly, they can be awesome. But what people arent admitting, is that when done incorrectly, yes they ARE a pain. If you dont believe me, play the original Riven. Then play the DVD version. Then try to act all hard.

Your poll doesn't have enough options... or "opinions" on it... sorry, but there is no way to really vote here... obviously 1 disc will always be preferrable.

why do they argue that when there paying to play online when PS user are playing free? why would they care about the cost of hardware but not care about cost for playing games that MS isn't running a server for the players are hosting the games on there own systems. a console last about 4 years if 360 last 4 years $50 a year x 4 is $200

Who said they would rather have a multidisc set? Of course you would rather it be on one disc...but if a game is so large that it takes up 2 discs, its not a deal breaker. It's hardly a consideration at all.

So you don't have a point whatsoever? what an useless thread...

Oh, wait, you're lying, just because you don't have an answer:

So it IS about PS3 vs X360!

My comment is fully appropiate. My question is the relevant one in the discussion. Your "same system" nonsense is just that. Nonsense.

And even if, by chance, you were right in asking for same-system comparisons, we're back in square one. To get an HD-DVD game, you'd need to purchase the $200 upgrade... which is still the $200 I initially spoke of.

Your wording, while apparently innocuous, was fully loaded in order to skew answers to the favor of your console, in a rather weak attempt at ownage.

If I had the option between identical games on one disc or on two disc...I would choose one disc. But If the game only came on two disc's I would still get it.

Well, duh. That should be absolute common sense right there. The whole predicament is not whether people like multi-discs over a single disc, it's about whether they MIND the former over the later if there is no other alternative short to purchasing a PS3 in order to play the single disc version.

i can point to the PC which has CD and DVD version of many of it's games. So it's not just based on PS3. Company of Heroes i have it for 6 CD's cause i couldn't find a DVD version and i wish i would have had the single DVD version than the 6 cd's i have now. My point is why are people arguing like 3 to 4 disc is a good thing when it's not it's not even debatable as you said if you had a choice everyone would choose 1 wich means it's better.

Nobody is arguing in favor of multi-disk games. The argument is that many people would prefer a multi-disk game over having to purchase a more expensive console, being forced into a media format they don't care about, or having to purchase an accessory.

Because some people, believe it or not, would much rather play a multi-disc version of a game on the console they already own as opposed to coughing up $600 in order to play a single-disc variant of the exact same game.

So what your saying is, "hypothetically" if say FFXIII came out on both PS3 and 360 at the same time, that a 360 owner should buy a PS3 just to play the single disc version, because naturally anyone would prefer less discs and therefore buying a brand new console for one game is entirely justified

What you dont seem to get is people dont care how many discs, sure its convenient to have a game your playing on one disc, but honestly if you were really looking forward to a game, would the fact that its on multiple discs really be the deciding factor on whether you purchase the game or not?

Do you call yourself a gamer?

That question isn't fair.  If it's identicle, whats the point in having two discs?

I don't mind it if the game requires it.

This is a stupid poll because of how you phrased the question. If you would've said, Is BluRay needed? Yes - No, it would've been better. No one would rather have 2 discs compared to one, however, Blu Ray isn't needed right now for games.

Why in the world are people choosing 1 disc???  There is no advantage whatsoever.  It's just fanboys (probably Lemmings in this case).

I see alot of people saying this question isn't fair. why? this isn't a argument to support nither system, seems alot of lemmings don't wanna say they prefer 1 disc over 2 disc if it was the same game on the same console. Nice dodging guys i hope the few lemmings who saw this won't try to argue this again after seeing that they truly inside rather have a 1 disc game if they had the choice on there console.

Are you for real, no-one would prefer 2 discs over 1 (exept fanboys being fanboys), but what you dont get is most gamers dont care either way, they'd still get a game they want if it was on 1 disc or 20 discs.

Preference doesnt even come into it, because besides PC gaming, there has and will never be an option to have a multi or single disc version of the same game on the same console

P.S: Of course the question isnt unfair, but it is retarded.

okay dumb question i mean of course people are going to choose one disc but if a game had to use more than one disc would it really kill you that much to get up and put in a second disc. playstation and nintendo fans cant compain since there are multi disc games for their old systems, in fact some of the best games were multi disc

I remember when multiple discs were a sign of awesomeness... the PS1 days, it was so cool to have a 3 or 4 disc game. When did multi discs become such a problem? ...of course we realize now that a lot of those 3 or 4 disc games could have been on 1 or 2, and the devs used the multi disc thing to their advantage (they wanted to appear to have a killer game on multiple discs, or overloaded us with FMV). I have NEVER cared if a game was on a couple discs... wake me up when it gets to like 10 DVD9's... then I'll care.

[QUOTE="peacebringer"]I see alot of people saying this question isn't fair. why? this isn't a argument to support nither system, seems alot of lemmings don't wanna say they prefer 1 disc over 2 disc if it was the same game on the same console.

P.S: Of course the question isnt unfair, but it is retarded.

the point of the question is so people can see , damn i would rather have it on 1 disc. Yes it doesn't matter but thats not the question, it's if you had a choice wich would you choose. this is so people can stop making Post about this stupid topic and stupid post won't go 100 post disagreeing that Multi disc isn't that great. so next time someone bashes Blue Dragon your guys can smartly say"Do i perfer it on 1 disc yes will i still play it on 3 disc yes" and not say something stupid like it doesn't matter thats a lame argument. just admit it matter but it doesn't effect your purchase this is a more logical argument than the current i don't care.

If it doesnt effect the persons purchase then how else would it matter?, would they cry themselves to sleep every night wishing the game they love was on one disc ?

Of course people would prefer 1 disc over 2, but once again, if they want the game and enjoy the game does anyone really care about how many discs its on ? NO (exept fanboys).

The ammount of discs a game was on never made a bad game good or vice versa and it never will do, so once again thats why no-one cares, do you not get that ?, or are you trying to fight some ridiculous BluRay vs. DVD9 battle , and if you are then

If I were such a fat lazy ass that I could not get up and walk 5 feet to change a disc after 10-20 hours of gameplay, then I would have much much greater problems than having a two-disc game.

By the way, for a thread like this you really need to put an 'I Dont Care' option.

One more thing to consider is that every time you play a different game, you are changing discs. Kind of blows your whole lame attempt at ownage doesnt it?

2 discs!  Haven't y'all heard retro is in.  I remember back in the day when you had to flip the tape over in your walkman, to listen to the rest of your Sonny and Cher.  Man those were the days   /sarcasm

???  I would buy you a "restore logic" potion to you, ytou should drink it IMMEDIATELY !!!!

If it is the same game and fit ONE disk, there would be no 2 disk version OBVIOUSLY !!!!!

To make it simple for you, if there is ONE problem that i care less in my whole life, is the disk changing in games twice in my whole life for each of those multidisk games

For instance to play Blue Dragon i will have to go put the disk in drive and take it out like 200 times or more, and you really think i will have a problem inserting 2 times the next dvd ?

Are some people in this forums a total joke ? We are talking about 10 seconds of your life per game here, to change a disk two times more than you would in let's say Blue Ray, if your time is so valuable trust me, you would not be playing games at all

The single disc one obvious, but I wouldnt care. This don't validate your claims. If a game came out on two, one (two discs) selling for 50 dollars and the other (single disc) costing a 10 bucks more aka 60 dollars. Which would you buy?

I would buy the 1 disc if the prices were the same but if the 2 disc was cheaper (I am a black jew lol) I would get the 2 disc version.
