K so I have both consoles and hardly any games. I was just wondering which of these multiplats play better on which console and why (no biased opinions please): cod4 modern warfare, elder scrolls oblivion, bioshock, and fallout 3, any sports games. thanks

there's a list somewhere (forget the link) that shows just about every game that is a multiplat and about 90% of them give the nod to the 360 version over the PS3 version

Dont listen to fanboys, the differences are barely noticable. Honestly just go for whichever controller is more comfortable to you.

In my opinion, multiplats look practically identical on both systems so graphics should never be a deciding factor. What you need to consider is:

1. Which system has more friends playing when it comes to online games like COD.
2. Which system's controller feels better for certain genres (some people prefer 360 control for fps's, ps3 control for fighting, etc.)
3. Whether achievements or trophies are more important to you.
4. In some cases, which game has the better DLC or which one gets DLC first (GTA4,Batman:AA, Fallout 3, etc.)

Oblivion is better on PS3, Fallout 3 & Bioshock are better on 360 though you can buy challenge maps for the PS3 version of Bioshock.. COD4 is almost purely the same and depends on which controller you perfer and Xbox Live vs. PSN.

With the exception of Xbox Live's totally unwarranted annual fees, the games generally run and look better on Xbox 360. That isn't always the case, but buying a 360 multiplat is, with the exception of maybe a couple of titles, always a safe bet. PS3 multiplats back in 2007 were like wading through a minefield. They've improved substantively, reaching approximate parity with 360 versions.

I have both and buy all my multiplats for 360,

Achievements, mostly better aliasing (I hate jaggies), mostly better framerate, bigger community for online play, most of my friends have 360's, custom soundtrack, 360 games are usually cheaper here in europe (brutal legend 65 euros for ps3, 60 euros for 360).

That's wrong, it depends greatly on which game it is. Generally, if the game was released as a multiplatform title after 2008, you'll have good performance and your visuals won't be ugly compared to the 360 version. But my experience with multiplatform titles back in 2007 is that nearly every one of them on PS3 was a mess. Plus you have games like Orange Box which were next to unplayable when they released and games like Madden 2008 which ran at HALF the framerate on PS3 (and still struggled to maintain that 30 FPS mark according to IGN.com). I make it a habit not to buy multiplatform titles on PS3 unless I confirm that they're generally excellent versions.

If you have an active live account, the multiplayer games would be better on 360. Larger community, easier to find matches.

Me personally, multiplat with singleplayer only components, or ones that I plan not to play online, I get for the PS3.

The games with a strong multiplayer component, I get for the 360.

There are those that I get for both (SF, Madden, COD), mainly because I have friends with only the 360/PS3 that I like to play certain games with.

Actually, I'm not sure if it got fixed but I remember the PS3 version of Oblivion had a lot more bugs and glitches than the 360 version. Still, I stick by what I said in my previous post.

You cant really tell the difference now and days, but fanboys love to blow stuff out of proportion. Only one proboly you can tell is fallout3. What should come to mind is which controller you enjoy more and where are your freinds at. I personally just use my PS3 for everything.

I recently came up with a personal rule regarding this:

If a game is designed to play on both consoles and PC then 360 is the safe bet because the porting always runs smoother that way. If a game is made strictly for consoles their should be no difference so go with either console. I such a case I go with PS3 to give them equal love and to save some room on my 360's HDD.

then why does PS3 Batman AA have play as Joker and 360 version doesn't? Multi-plats are the same on each system now for over a year. They all get reviewed with the same score. Look up all multi-plats that have come out within the last 14 months and you'll see identical scores for each version.

According to Gamespot, Oblivion is one of very few games that, in their opinion, looks better on Playstation 3. In particular they noted better texture filtering. I suggest you go look at it. You don't want me to go dig up the .png comparisons, because I'm sure they'll shut you down.

360 for 3 reasons: 1. I only have 3 friends that have a PS3. I have 86 friends on XBL. 2. 360 usually gets DLC first. 3. I like the 360 controller MUCH better.

thanks, this was kind what i was looking for. Just the differences between the ps3 and 360 versions of those 4 games. I'll most likely get cod4 on ps3 since i don't have live, though i'm still debating on the other 3...

Shooters and Sports (really anything with good online multiplayer) - 360 because live is better

SIngle player on PS3 because the PS3 is sooo much quieter.

Those are my basic rules. Sometimes I will go differant if a game is better on a system.

Well barring Fallout 3, any game after 08 is either the same on PS3, or can be better in some cases (Batman: Arkham Asylum), but pre 08 games are usually better on 360 or PC, Oblivion I believe came out later and was improved on various aspects. It really depends on the specifics.

These are all particular to you. They're not things that are fact for all. Does not help him decide which system to get them for. All multiplats are reviewed the same on both systems, so he should get them for which ever system he likes to play on more.

Well it is simple...which was the first next gen console released? The 360.

Was its main competitor cheaper or the same price? No.

Did more people want to wait to pay more for next gen games or not? They wanted their next gen now! (for less money to boot)

So simple economics shows why the 360 has so many followers. I'm sure if the PS3 was released at the same time for the same price it would be doing much better.

So in the light of those facts... Multi-plats and just about everything else is going to the 360. Obviously, people want to play with their friends and/or the most people possible. The more people means that there is more competition= more exciting= more diversity et cetera.

Finally, I am really frustrated when people choose sales figures, multi-plat game sales, and because of the last two things online players to judge the system war. That really isn't "fair" at all.

The 360 came out early and bugged to the point that their systems would fail. That is unacceptable. No one would be happy at all about their brand new car breaking down for no reason other than bad quality.

So I deem this topic moot. It doesn't mean anything. If you own a 360 of course you aren't going to buy a ps3 game (duh?). And I already showed why more people have 360s. So of course the multi-plats are going to be bought more on the 360. But, all that means is that more people bought 360s. It doesn't mean anything else. Bottom line... end of story.

PC....oh wait. Bioshock is better on Ps3 (I think), more content. Fallout 3 is better for 360. Oblivion is 50/50 cause the Ps3 one comes with a sweet questline on the disc that the 360 version doesn't, although I think you can DL it. As for CoD4, get whichever one you have more friends for, because of the online
