Where do you get your multiplats? (If you don't own all, which would you get if you had a choice?)

Switch

+ Portable on the go

+ On a much cooler cart versus disc

- Low Res, mostly 30fps, no Achievements

- Terrible online

- No game DVR

Xbox One/PS4

+ Mainstream platform/biggest online community

+ Remote play on Vita with PS4, Cross buy with windows on Xbox with selected titles

- Online paywall, Normal Resolution, toss up of 30/60 fps depending on game

PC

+ 4K, 60fps and beyond

+ Free online

- A lot of clients such of Origin, Steam, GOG etc. Not unified

- Generally only available as digital, DRM

It depends on the game really. Mostly on PC unless it's an indie title. Indie games on Switch.

Some exceptions too like DOOM which I can always get again on PC for a cheap price, but might try it first on Switch.

Which doesn't have a choice? If I didn't own all, I get it on the system I own.... Duh. If I owned 2 of the 3 systems, I'd get it on the system more of my friends were on.

PC primarily. I am inexplicably hooked to earning trophies, so some games I'll settle for on PS4. A handful of games I'll buy on Switch only because the quality is comparable and it's more suited for handheld play.

PC for all multiplat games:

  • 60fps
  • Online free
  • Motion Blur option to turn off
  • Benefits on PC is way grater then consoles
  • Playing games in 1440p/60fps
  • Ultimate Backwards Compatibility

Nintendo Switch exclusive and very fewer 3rd party games:

  • Quality Nintendo Exclusive games
  • Portable option is a nice feature
  • A true next-gen console & NOT mid-gen upgrade BS
  • Online free (until the end of the year)

PS4 as my main home console so it's a giving.

Everything on PC unless I can not get it on PC. Consoles are only for exclusives.

Kind of depends. I play plenty of multiplats on PC and Xbox. There are alot of factors. Price being one of them, which generally PC is cheaper and has more sales on Steam in particular. Whether I want a physical copy of the game is another which you generally can't find on PC. Whether I think the game's online population is going to be with PC or console is another factor. Also you have to factor in how many free games I receive simply with an online subscription to Xbox live gold.

Xbox/PS4 are essentially poor man's HTPCs which you can easily take from room to room and everything is at the touch of controller. PC is not that (usually). I have kind of a bulky PC that I don't really want to unhook everything and drag around anywhere.

I guess if I really had to choose, I would pick the non-existent XboxSteamBox hybrid that plays my entire Xbox and Steam library.

I buy most multiplats on Xbox One because it has the best controller and the best online service.

I make an exception for retro style games with no online component like Sonic Mania since these games play better with a d-pad and Nintendo makes the best d-pad. Plus, retro style games just feel like they belong on a Nintendo console since I associate Nintendo with retro gaming whereas I associate Microsoft and Sony with changing gaming to what it now is in modern times.

My PS4 is only for exclusives.

generally its multiplats for the PC and exclusives for anything else. there are a few exceptions like:

I tend to get games like Ys, mario kart and rally games (of the more arcade variety) for handhelds. 2D JRPGs and turn based strategies i tend to get for handhelds also. i got stardew valley for the PC and its great...but i wish i got it on a handheld.

....i really hope the smachZ works out.

but yeah: multiplats to the PC, the vast majority of games i get on other platforms are exclusive to that platform.

Well, we are getting closer to Halloween so I guess a Frankenstein abomination such as the XBox4ProX has arrived at the right time.

If it's a game like Hellblade or Lords of Shadow, which I may not replay often and would prefer better visuals for, then Ps4/Xbox One. (Or PC, when I get one)

IMO, I would say, generally, unless it's a bad port, Switch stomps PS4/Xbox One multiplats no diff. Doom on the Switch for the win!

Shut up, this is System Wars not Orgy Times. I did not agree to make this baby okay. It looks so weird. It wasn't a good match to begin with. I guess Microsoft and Sony got a little desperate and now we have this...thing...to pay the price. Will it even do 4K.

Xbox One for all my multi platform games. I prefer the control, the online and system functionalities, and I also prefer the achievement system.

That list is so stupidly incomplete to the point where it just looks like your limiting certain platforms *cough* PC.

"+ Mainstream platform/biggest online community" - no that's PC

"Most online remote play features" again PC...

"Lots of apps" - ... what? 90% of games are on steam, literally a handful are EA/Ubi only... in which case its a 5 minute download once in your bloody life... considering how much cheaper and conveniant PC games are... this is not even a negative worth mentioning.

DRM & digital only - other than the rip off 2nd hand market, again this is minor, as Digital prices of PC games (except the console publishers... *shocker*) always have cheaper options.. and having a 500 games strong library ready whenever is far better than physical media anyday.

Ah console convenience... takes 60 seconds to boot, slow load times.

PC - 7 second boot, much snappier OS, can run Several Server / Client VMs, a TV show and a game all at the same time.

Other than being a couch sloth, there is barely an advantage to consoles... kinda sad at this point.

You're right... the X deserves it's own place. The Pro can be lumped together with the base models since it's not a proper upgrade though.

But anyway, I've played all the multiplats on my XB1 this gen and will continue to on my X, since it'll be the best place to play multiplats on consoles.

If it's available on the Switch then I'll get it there, if not then I will get it on Xbox because of the X, better controller and what I consider to be better online experience. PS4 is now my Sony exclusive machine.

Eh, this isn't true of the Switch. And the OP is definitely missing many Switch benefits as well.

You are right.

I keep forgetting how great the Switch is. I mainly aim my attacks at the traditional "UHD twins"

^ This Online games run very well. I guess TC is talking about stuff like messaging, groups and so on?

anyway: You want to pla it with power? Get it on PC. You want to play it on the go? Get it on Switch. Ps4/xOne are really only there if you don't own a strong PC and don't care for protability.

PC. Consoles are strictly for exclusives, or "console exclusives."
