Provided that I give ample space between consoles, is it okay to place two of them together? I was thinking of placing a PS3 on one shelf and then a Xbox 360 and a Wii on the other. At least that would seem to make the most sense to me, given that the 360 and the Wii are smaller than the PS3.
Here's the dimensions:
Center Shelf: 43-5/8"W x 17-3/4"D (PS3)
Bottom Shelf: 43-5/8"W x 19-3/4"D (Xbox360+Wii)
The top shelf would be for the TV.
I don't know if it would make a difference or not, but all three shelves would be tempered glass.
Given the 360's hardware issues, I'd refrain from putting it next to another console. It may overheat, and no one wants that. The Wii and PS3 are pretty solid, and putting them near each other shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks, that's an excellent observation, I haven't thought of it like that.
Do you think the material underneath the consoles would matter? I.e. tempered glass, wood like material, metal.
I have all 3 in a row next to each other under a glass table and they all work fine. Well the PS3 is kind of to the side of the table since I ran out of room under it but it's still next to them since the table legs hardly count as a barrier :P
