do you guys think that being the host in a lobby of mw2 online gives an advantage, I noticed that the host would get the top score most of the time, ther are times when Im the host and everyone couldnt seem to see me and they would always facing away from me, or it doesnt take much bullet to kill somebody... what do you guys think?

If feels quicker to kill because there is no lag. It gives you a big advantage when you run and gun, or find yourself one on one with someone.

Sorry to derail this thread but how would you know who the host is? Did I miss something?

When you vote a map, it's instant. When you first load the game, you should be the first guy with full bars. If people say it's lagging, but it's not for you :P

It's not a glitch, it's part of the crappy network model. The host gets 0 ping because he's acting as the server so all the information is processed locally and he has the persistent model of the server on his console.

For me its not very often that the host wins. While it does seem that they get some unfair kills they still need to be good at the game to win.

They should give hosts "fake" ping :P I dunno, seems more fair, or just use dedicated servers... which they won't.

This seems to be a problem in lots of games. It isn't so bad that you can't win at all in an upfront fight against the host, but there is a definite advantage and I think this is one major black mark on using P2P servers. Many other games have the same problem, Gears 2 was one game where that was a MAJOR problem after everything else got fixed.

Microsoft really need to move away from P2P if they want to continue to justify their subscription costs. Too few developers are capable of producing reliable net code for P2P games, with far too many ending up laggy, glitchy, unfair and frustrating to play.

In Gears of War you literally win the game every single time if you're the host. I cant understand why anyone bothers joining games rather than just making one, safe in the knowledge that they'll win.
