Honestly, it wasnt bad enough that they took out dedicated servers, but where the hell is my COD? 18 players max? umm excuse me...? The fun of CoD games online is that there are relatively large maps with like 40 players in them (that's what made cod4 for me). So lets see, they slightly updated graphics and threw a few gimmicks into the ranking system, took away dedicated servers, and took away the big matches. I am SOOOOOOO glad I didnt buy it myself and just borrowed a friends copy.(turns out he didnt like it much either)

Single player was fun, but wayyyyyyy too short. Like Half Life 2episode 1,2 short. save your money for better games. Dragon Age, Borderlands, L4D2, and AC2.

That's exactly how I am. i still kinda play it because it's there, but it really really let me down. Like, I don't understand why no one else has mentioned this, it's like literallythe biggest issue with it...

Regardless, most people who liked MW's multiplayer will be trying their hands at MW2's as well... including PC players...

I just hate the maps. I think they are terribly designed. If they were better i wouldn't really be bothered with the dedicated servers and smaller numbers of players

The maps in MW2 are tiny, seriously the whole game is in close quarters and you never use any tactics you just shoot at every moving object, also I cant wait for Badcompany 2 a game with big maps long range combat and vehicles.

Its not about the sizes of the map that pisses me off, but the fact that there are WAY to many windows and camping spots, I can barely sprint. Its either I crouch or die. The entire gameplay is slow now, and whats more is that PC gamers like me will have to pay for map packs just because the current maps suck really hard.

I've always been one of those gamers who prefer less people in online multiplayer because it makes for better team communication, you aren't always dying and your deaths and kills contribute more so you feel like you are part of the game more or that's just my opinion. I remember back when CoD2 launched for the 360 it was the most fun I've ever had in multiplayer and gears of war was great when i got the hang of it.

I feel the PC gamers pain simply because the multiplayer is the biggest downgrade from it's predecessor but as a console gamer I can say it wouldn't make that huge of a deal to me.

Does anyone remember how great some of the original CoD maps were?

It started with CoD 2. It had many maps that were exactly the same as the original; but, is it just me, or did the scale feel off? Like, they were the same but still smaller. CoD going console really started with CoD 2.

well surely there are people who felt disappointed by MW2's mp... it does feel alot like COD4 but personally am having a blast.. I really enjoy the new additions like Demolition / 3rd person & CTF modes..

Spec ops is fun with friends too... overall MW2's mp is still fun and addictive.

The same problem existed in CoD4. Whats the point of trying to flank some one if your going to get shot in the back buy someone respawning??? Or getting trapped in a small area only to get spawn killed repeatedly!!!

Well, I have to say I don't agree with the topic. I like MW2, I think it's a pretty solid game. I've only played multiplayer though really, maybe a half hour of single player. Got a day and a couple hours on multiplayer, and I think it's pretty sweet and addicting. Just saying.

Thankyou. Its like you have reached into my mind and spoke the words I was searching for. I have been saying this since a week after COD4 launched. The perks and unlocks are just there to hide the shallow noobified gameplay that exists throughout online multiplayer.

Honestly, 20v20 sucked imo. Nade fest and you couldn't even attempt to be stealthy as their were absolutely no holes in another teams defense. Screw those big matches.

Actually, that would indicate it is quite the skilled game as it is consistently showing your skill. Now, if you were all over the place all the time, then the game is more about luck than skill.

i for one prefer smaller teams im being honest those 64vs64 is just overkill and teamwork becomes little to no factor imo.Smaller teams tend to work better some COD MW2 maps like derail are a bit on the big side but not overly big cause sniping can be factored. If a team works well in MW2 its an excellent example of a multiplayer game and keeps everything on an even keel if your not as great as other players with deathstreaks cmon who aint used it yet its good for less experienced players imo.

MW2 is bout one of the best shooters for casuals and hardcores alike being honest no matter what the haters say.

I agree with you there. CoD 4 big matches on PC were just a spamfest, but I just always have a habit of joining bigger games for whatever reason. Same with 64 player BF2 infantry servers. I guess I just like getting constantly naded and claymored. Decided to get MW2 on console instead of PC and I'm having a blast. It's a GREAT game. In "Ground War" with up to 18 people, there's already enough spam and killstreak spam for me.

the essential problem with CoD forumula is that it has no way tracking skill, you always gain exp even when you lose. It needs more of a ranking system that Halo 3 had, where you lost ranks when you lost, and you gained ranks when you won.

I've been playing MW2 on PS3, it definatley deserves the score of 9.

The PC version of the game is a joke which should have scored 6 at the very most. I remember when GS said they use higher standards when reviewing PC games.......Where did the high standards go??? *cough* IW paid GS to have a high PC score......

Lowering the score by 0.5 is a compromise which shows that they've taken the issues into consideration, but doesn't ruffle too many feathers. Apparently they think this has about as much impact on the game as the slight visual disparity between the PS3 and 360 version of Dragon Age. But at least Gamespot is better than all the critics out there who just ignored it. Like IGN, who acknowledged it and then made excuses for why it didn't matter. Or Game Informer, who thinks people are a bunch of whiny losers who should just shut up and take IW's words as gospel like they do.

 If you are first every time, you wouldn't be on a video game forum flaming the crap out of the game about how its terrible! Winningusually equals fun. Losing and dieing usually equals running online on a video game forum to talk crap about it...

It is easy, because it only takes 2-3 shots to kill someone. Its not like Halo where someone can be shooting you in the butt, but you can turn around quickly and use skill to 3 shot him in the head, killing him first using skill. In COD its all about camping, but then again, isnt REAL war that same way?

I went 60 and 2 in a game last night and had a blast! But when i go 5 and 15 from campers hiding in windows the whole match, i usually just quit out and find another match. I usually play for kills, so i can care less about win percentages

It's not a perfect game, but it's still a blast. I do feel a bit of an identity crisis going on though. The combat on the ground is pretty tight, and offers a number of different ways to play (stealth classes ftw), but the insane ease obtaining killstreak rewards hurts many of the matches I've played. Towards the end of the match there can be any number of helicopters, fighters and missiles raining death upon your team constantly. An occassional death from an unavoidable source isn't all that bad, but when I spawn up five times in a row and get instantly mowed down but some killstreak, it starts getting rediculous. Especially the stupid AC130 gunship and the player controlled attack hellicopter. Most of the maps are too small for something like that to be balanced.

. You can be good at a game and still think its crap/average or whatever. CoD is an effortless shooter. not quite as bad as Halo but they made it even closer again. at least Treyarch knew how to make good maps and rebalance things properly to make it more challenging.

I find it funny how people talk about skill and playing a video game. Isn't the person with the most kills the most skillful? How can there be no skill if there is a way to count the kills?

I love when someone has [NUKE] as their clan tag and constantly tries to get a 25 killstreak (which is easy to get btw) as fast as possible just to drop a nuke and brag in the lobby afterwards and cry in other matches when he fell short of the killstreak before the match ended

I find it funny how people talk about skill and playing a video game. Isn't the person with the most kills the most skillful? How can there be no skill if there is a way to count the kills?

"no skill" is an exaguration only. The mechanics in place with games like MW2, Halo and Mario Kart wii dont allow for a large skill gap difference.

One thing I have realized over time is that COD games require no skill whatsoever. it's so easy, I come out on top EVERY time...

I usually play for kills, so i can care less about win percentages

. You can be good at a game and still think its crap/average or whatever. CoD is an effortless shooter. not quite as bad as Halo but they made it even closer again. at least Treyarch knew how to make good maps and rebalance things properly to make it more challenging.

If you were that "good" at Halo i think you should go pro then and make bank because Halo is not easy, thats why its currently the most competitive multiplayer game to date

-_-;........ you wish. Source for your claim? HAlo's gameplay mechanics are too easy and limited, simple fact, its the Mario Kart Wii of the shooter world.

I personally like the smaller games. Socom was ruined when they changed it from 8v8 to 16v16, the maps became so big you couldn't find anyone. Killzone 32v32 matches are just chaos, spawn, grenade, repeat. Same with the big R2 matches. I mostly play free for alls in MW2 and sometimes 8 people is too much for maps like Rust and Terminal.

I really wish reviewers would stop getting caught up in the hype of a release. This is the kind of stuff that reviewers should mention.

I love how these topics almost disappeared since launch day.
