Am I the only person who thinks that MW2's online multiplayer is a step down from Modern Warfare? A few things I like... like being able to guide a missle air strike... but the helicopters are ridiculous. The game seems much more "noob friendly" as some would say. Everyone is playing it constantly, and I fire it up to plays with the fellas here and there... I just think it's a bit overrated.

As for the campaign, seems like so many people almost skip the campaign entirely just to play it online. I think the campaign is the best thing about the game! I know it's pretty short, but the pacing and action packed moments are awesome. The ending is amazing.

Do you agree?

The online could have been DLC to COD4:MW1 if they wanted it to be.

Oh well, I got my Platinum in it.

EDIT : Yes, the story was shorter than MW1...but Spec Ops I guess makes up for it.

I thought the campaign was pretty ridiculous. Good gameplay but I was wincing pretty often at the storyline. Big step down from COD4 which maybe wasn't "realistic" but was at least believeable. Also maybe I imagined this but it seemed even shorter this time?

I think it was shorter this time... and just curious, why dont you think the storyline was believable? Maybe I missed a key part of the story... but I didnt think the storyline felt "unbelievable". It seemed a little far fetched, but nothing out of the ordinary of what I expected it to be.

I thought the campaign was great. The ending was awesome, I didn't expect it at all. But I think the spec ops mode is the best part.

Spec ops is really the only thing I like about the game. Single player was ok, and I agree the competitive is overrated.

It felt like the single player campaign was a bunch of huge setpieces put together badly by a really substandard story framework. It seemed like all they did was say "Wouldn't it be cool if we did this?" and designed the levels around that, then made a story that very badly tied the pieces together. By the time I got to the end of the game I was happy it was over. And don't get me started with the ending.

I think they're both a step down. Like someone already said, MW1's story wasn't realistic, but at least believable. MW2's was just inane. Agreed that the multiplayer is very noob friendly.

i loved the campaign and have no interest in multiplayer, so this sudden fixation everyone has with multiplayer really annoys me [especially when a mediocre multiplayer is taped on for the sake of having one and the single player game suffers for it] MW and MW2's single player suffered not in quality, but severely in length. However i see people go 'i don't even bother with the campaign, i just want the multiplayer' and i know its only going to get worse I managed to complete MW2 on regular, hardened and veteran in the time i'd spend on a normal length game *sigh for the slow death of single player*

No, the campaign was a mess. IW tried too hard to have so many "OMG AWESOME" moments in the game, but there really was only 1 memorable part, EMP. The multiplayer feels familiar, but is still addicting.

The campaign had a few great setpieces. But like Heretrix said, they were badly put together, and there were just a lot of times where I felt that Infinity Ward was trying too damn hard to deliver a good setpiece. It had none of the intensity of the original Modern Warfare, and at times the game was just getting silly with its story. It also had a pretty crappy ending. The online isn't much to write home about either. The new additions are mostly useless, and compared to previous PC CoD games it's very stripped. I usually get good connections though. It's still a solid game overall though, because Spec Ops manages to hold things together.

same

the campaign was decent, dont rate the story in this or mw1, or the way its delivered or the huge gaps of info i felt were missing but i enjoyed this campaign much more than the previous. as been said before it did seem like a load of set pieces pasted together but i didnt really expect anything else

The campaign was better than I had anticipated especially knowing the complete story and how awful it is. And the set piece moments were great but the only wow moments were the US levels. With "of their own accord" being the peak.

Not to mention the numerous homages to The Rock which by the white house level was getting old. Not to mention how incredibly short it is. I'm pretty damn good at FPS but being able to beat the game on Veteran in under 7 hrs. on my first playthrough is a pretty short game. And only another hour to finish up some trophy hunting.

Spec-Ops is easily MW2's saving grace and strongest point, My buddy and I have a blast trying to get 69 stars. But those damn juggernauts.

The helicopters are fine (7 kill streak one is even weaker than COD4 heli), and cold blooded means they air support can't detect you so that helps. I agree though, it's overrated and very noob friendly. Single player was great, good variety. Snow levels are interesting. But the ending was cheap (though I don't want to spoilt it for someone)

I found the campaign to be utter crap (a bit of an exageration, but still). It kept the same solid gameplay mechanics from all the cod games, but came up with the most rediculous random jumbled together story and set pieces. By the end of the game i had no idea what just happened. Multiplayer was a bit of a refresh update for cod4, which was addicting but wore off much quicker than cod4

The online is overrated. I enjoy it, its fun when you want some fast paced-mindless shooting. Its not nearly as good as others make it out to be. I still play socom confrontation over it. The singleplayer was enjoyable while it lasted, i didnt even listen to the story after the russians invaded america, and just looked at it like it was, just one big mesh of set pieces. It was cool, i would play it maybe one more time, but thats about it.

The campaign was terrible for this little mission called "No Russian". A mission where you go around the airport killing innocent people? I thought Infinity Ward was a tasteful developer, but I think it's time for reevaluate my opinion...

The entire game is basically an expansion pack that took IW 2 years to make. So glad that i rented it before buying.

Stringerboy

yes so true anyways

I bought MW2'S game just for the multiplayer but now its getting old very fast it just doesn't do it anymore for me dunno but i mite trade it in for Uncharted 2 or Demon Soul's

A noob friendly game should be just as friendly to you too, meaning the noobs shouldn't be doing better than you, and if they are, well you clearly are the noob in that situation... The campaign is decent, but yeah, that's about it. Special Ops is incredible though. Oh, lol@the kid saying it could be DLC. Why don't we just say every sequel could be DLC? That seems to be the new mentality from us cheap gamers.

I found MW2 online to be overrated. IW took what little skill it took to play MW1 and made it into a noob fest. Single player was good but the story was so ludicrous it took whatever enjoyment I would have found.

From what I'm told it's a game basically designed around multiplayer with the campaign tossed in more as an after thought. I'm told the campaign is barely 3 hours long so to me the game isn't even worth 5 dollars.

Exploding a nuke isn't comparable to basically enacting a terrorist scene in a public place. The amount of realism in that mission made it very disturbing.
