In short, it is pretty good.
I Liked:
New car models
Beautiful track
New lighting
Interiors
Updated physics
AI
Music while playing
New Menu
I hated:
No camera movement inside the car (UP date, you can move the camera by pressing up, but still doesn't offer a very good view)
Lacking damage system
No free-float camera in replay mode
Graphics
Car models look great, although I hated the fact the your interior camera is very limited, and i could only see a very small portion of the interior. Since you pick the inside camera anyway, wouldn't it be more realistic to leave the rest of the interior when you look around?
The track is very well made, although you never see it when you drive around. I had to stop, and see the track details in the pre-race menu, when the camera flies around.
It seems to be like a no-nonscence game and effects like blur and camera shaking are absent. HDR still is well implemented and lighting is much better then what was in forza 2. Still doesnt look quite as realistic as gt5, but for sure looks very pretty.
It is jiggly on my 60 inch 1080p screen, but not NEARLY as bad as forza 2. Not much problem there.
Runs very smooth, which is nice for a sim.
Physics
Liked it a lot. A lot of people may find it a little dull after playing something like Burnout Paradice, but forza is a very tidy game, with what seems to be a fair representation of actual cars. All the stock cars in demo have a bit too much under-stear, but nothing a mod and a tune couldn't fix. Ive never driven an R8 in real life, but the game seems quite consistent with real life.
Bumps is another major new thing they have around, if u look a side camera in replay and look at tires and suspension, they really do their job, and the track has a lot of bumps. Tires actually do bend in corners and under load. Nice.
Damage is pretty much the same as in forza 2, the only difference is that you can now damage more drive train components other then engine and gear box. Tire damage is pretty poor, I spent 2 minutes doing a massive burnout on R8 and the most i damaged my tires was 8%. I haven't heard of anyone who made them come off either. Probably it will be the same as in forza 2, you keep loosing traction but there is no visual damage to your tires.
In general the damage system is still quite lacking, there is no terminal damage either. Would have been so much better if they gave us an option of having cars die completly...
AI is just as good as in Forza 2, but now it behaves more realisticaly and doesn't always stick to the perfect line.
NOW there is music while driving, something that was absent in forza 2, and made those especially long races very tiring.
In replay mode there are about 20 different view you can choose from but there is no FREE FLOAT camera. It was a real jam in PGR3 and 4, but for some reason it doesn't appear to be here... hopefully in full version
Hmmm... what else. The new menu is nice too, i like it clean and simple.
