My honest opinion on HD

I have a Wii and a PS3. I play the Wii everyday but rarely play the PS3. Just me being honest, not bashing or anything. From my personal experience from playing the Wii, and then playing the HD consoles, I can honestly say that HD is nice but I can have fun without it. I, for one, can say that I wouldn't mind if the Wii had an HD update though. I won't speak for all the Wii gamers here but for me at least, Graphics are good to have along with Great Gameplay. You'd notice that everytime a graphically good game comes out on the Wii,the Wii forums light up massively and those games are hyped to no extentfor instance Monster HunterTri, Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex, Metroid Prime TrilogyandResident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles so I, for one would be lying out of my teeth for saying that graphics aren't good to have just to justify the Wii's one issue (Graphics, which are good but not HD). This is coming from a Nintendo fan since the 80's, can't say since the beginning seeing as how Nintendo is over 100 years old. Anyway,Not bashing any console here but HD is nice.

I agree. Good graphics isn't as make or break as Hardcore fanboys make it on here, but speaking fro experience, really good graphics does help to increase the overall experience. It's no different then people who loved the special effects the first time they saw The Matrix.

The funny thing about the HD consoles is that the games that sort of defined them, the ones people will be talking about in the future, like Metal Gear Solid 4, Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, and both Gears of War games all run in sub-HD resolutions.

HD is nice to have but not really needed, but what seperates the games you mentioned from the wii games are the way they run on more powerful consoles, and the number of things going on.

I agree, graphics isn't everything. I can still pop in an old game like Battlefront 2 and still have fun without caring about the graphics.

To be fair this is only half true, there a quite a few really good games on the wii witch i play all the time (just so you know i prefer the 360 overall) but the bad games outway the good buy miles, but what many of the games i think are bad 5-10 year olds think are amazing. which isnt necessarily a bad thing. youve got to start some were

I'm guessing the TC has a tiny TV. If not, perhaps he's just a die-hard Nintendo fan, of which there are many. Personally, I love High Def. But don't forget, HD gaming didn't start this generation... PC gamers have been playing on high resolutions for many years prior to the 360's launch. It's nice to see someone prefer the Wii to an HD console, but personally, I'm a graphics snob. I never buy Wii games anymore because they look horrible, and no devs do anything that great with the controls. (Here's hoping Red Steel 2 turns that around.)donalbane

Gameplay always comes first.

Graphics this and that is an ignorant mentality. Let's just watch a movie then, because that's what detail is. Movies must be THE best video games also.

gameplay is still first-thing. I have an Xbox, and no, I've always gone by gameplay...an MMO I quit playing always had crappy graphics, but I preferred it for the gameplay and was never bothered by the graphics. So that's where my gameplay mentality came from.

I dont find HD necessary at all (except when playing an HD game with small text).

Of course you don't need to have hd for gaming to be fun. But come on... if the wii had hd graphics that would be a total plus for the system and make alot of games more enjoyable because videogames are just a visual experience lol

Of course u can have fun without HD, how do u think ppl played on all consoles leading up to this gens. HD isnt necessary its just a logical improvement. Its one of those things i dont rly need but now I couldnt never go back to SD either.

I think it has a lot to do with my upbringing. We didn't have much money, and I didn't even have a color TV until I was 12. HD is really cool, but no. I can easily live without it, and game in SD.cainetao11

you my friend are a minority. i cant see 5 games i would want on the wii...its why i'm skipping it this gen. i don't normally like 2 do that...but that god awful controls....it was fun for 10 minutes....

Graphics certainly don't make games but every single Wii game does look somewhat underwhelming; enough to be gamebreaking imo.

I always assumed that by "Wii HD" people meant a Wii 1.5. You know, 720p graphics, B/C and a bit of extra power to make the HD capability worth something. A plain HD Wii is rather pointless.
