My love for video games is dying

I don't find video games to be as fun as they were and I don't know why. Maybe it's the high price of the games or maybe its that i'm getting to old (I'm 22) or maybe game developers are working to much on makeing the games look reel and not makeing the game fun. But i can't stop and feel a bit sad that this generation is going to be the last time i buy a new video game console.

Am i the only one that feels this way?

Games were dead to me until the DS rolled around.  It's a breath of fresh air to me, but I don't know if it would be the same for you.

Just go back and play some older games that you DO have fun with if you don't like the new stuff. 

I gave next gen gaming a rest and went back to finish some dreamcast & ps1 games that I left incomplete.  But I plan on getting back to 360 gaming next week with Double Agent.

yeah I have noticed that everytime I play retro games my love for gaming increases further :)

I don't have any of my old game's any more. 

You probably just got burnt out on the games. Take some time off and come back to them. I've had that problem before as well. There's always some game that brings me back then I get sick of them again. Just a cycle.JiveT

thats because as you get older, you get to do some of the stuff you do in games (buy a real motorbike, go to the shooting range, drive a car etc.).  And games are easier these days.  I too feel the same way.  I have downgraded myself to "casual".  I hardly play like I used to.  dont quit.  Just play less.  Only buy AAA games that interest you, and play offline.  Thats what I see myself (23) doing in a few years.  But I'm still gaming for now.

I haven't been as excited for a game like GTAIV since about 3 years ago, when GTA: San Andreas came out. Same story with Pokemon Diamond.

I can't wait to play upcoming games and I don't agree that games are less fun than they used to be just because the graphics have improved. Gears of War is a good example of a game that combines great gameplay + excellent graphics.

The PS3 is the way to go for u since it does so much more then just game.

I'm 29 and been playing since Atari 400. I felt the same way as you did for several years until my cousin lent me Command & Conquer Red Alert 2.  I was never a diehard PC fan or RTS fan, now I'm hooked.

Try to look into other Platforms and genres. So far, the PC was the prime source of bringing my interest in gaming back. 

I'm 22. I love games a lot more than I use to. I don't know what it is with the original poster, but you must have some crappy games. majadamus
