is we have all learned something from this gen, is that a story isnt that important anymore

Gears of War

Oblivion

Rainbow Six Vegas

Twilight Princess

Resistance

Wario Ware etc.

this games would be better if they had a better story though

If you want good long stories, try Oblivion, maybe Ninja Gaiden Sigma

I found that story to be a strong point in that game. It gets overlooked for sure.

If you do customer research on games you'd quickly find out that 90% of gamers don't want epic stories. They're basically looking for a 12 hour SP with added MP. Most modern games are going to move in that direction, and most developers are pretty happy to go along since it cuts on production costs. I sort of like this direction since most epic games are just grinding anyway. Of course I mostly rent single player games and buy multiplayer ones.

lol, Metroid has like no story. But I dont know what you mean, Zelda TP which came out on launch had a great story. Same with Super Paper Mario.

I get the feeling that people forget what last generation was like. Looking back at it from now they have tons of great games. but it took 6 years to get that many games. We already have a few this gen, and it will improve.

Indeed. Fantastic story that just draws you in thanks to excellent direction and top notch voice work. Even the load screens incorporate the story / character development.

how can you put Resistance and WarioWare on the same ground ?

Resistance got a much more if not epic storyline than close to none story at all WarioWare

Have you played a metroid game? The plot isn't exactly what moves the game along.

What's epic to you, might not be to others. I can share a few games that I have enjoyed on the 360.

Project Sylpheed

Enchanted Arms

Oblivion

Star Trek Legacy

Overlord

Remember, these are games that "I" like.

I think Mass Effect is going to blow everything away this year.

farrell2k

You enjoyed project syphleed:shock:? Impossible

The Darkness as other have already talked about does have a good story, even if it's not epic. Lair is supposed to have an engaging story according to the devs but I don't know if that will pan out. Then there's always Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, LO, Folklore, and Bioshock to look forward to.

This generation looks very good to me. Franchises are ending (MGS4, Halo 3), new ones are released, Gears, Resistance, DR (I can go on), and new one are yet to be released, Heavenly Sword, Bioshock, Uncharted, AlanWake (and again I can go on). I am happy with this gen.

I see not many here care about epic storylines, that's a little strange and disappointing. But i am with you my friend.Epic storylines in games with some epic music and all that is just some of the best moments in gaming. However we didnt have a crap load of such games last gen,but dont worry those games will come and this gen u will experience some of the most intriging and memeorable storylines ever told in gaming or otherwise. This gen hasnt even started properly yet so dont worry.

I advise you to get a ps3 and i can assure you that you wont be dissapointed in this category.
