My New PS3 & My Thoughts

Well I just picked up my ps3 today, and I have been testing it out some. I am a big 360 fan so while I was testing the ps3 out I was basically comparing the two. So far the ps3 is pretty good. The system itself looks much nicer than the 360, there are definitely alot of extras that are great if you need them. Resistance was kind of a let down, fairly over rated. I only had a ps2 for the first couple years it was out, and I didn't mind the controller then, but I really dont care forthe ps3 controllertoo much. I hate how the analogs are so close together, I wish they would switch the left analog with the arrow pad or whatever the hell you call it. I do like that the controller is pretty much weightless. I have heard alot of debating over online between the ps3 and 360, and as far as navigating around xbox marketplace compared to the playstation store thing I much prefer marketplace. They like both, but I just prefer xbox's layout.Overall I prefer the 360, but its early that could change. My biggest dislike of the ps3 is the controller, other than that its pretty cool. God of war is pretty cool, I was actually playing that more than resistance. I dont own a ps3 three game, but there are plenty of ps2 games to keep me busy till more games come out since I had a ps2 for a short time. God of War would be better if you used both analogs so you can look around and what not, I wonder why they made it like that?

I just downloaded and watched the uncharted trailer...damn that looks good. It looks like actual gameplay in the video, so that game looks pretty impressive, along with the ratchet video. Both of those looked great. The heavenly sword video I wasn't too impressed with though, I have that game reserved to, might have to change that. Am I just missing it, or is there no lair video on the ps3 store? Also, is that what you call it, ps3 store? tylerdurden2621

You have to get used to controllers. I have the Ps3 and my friend has the 360 I prefer the ps3 controller cause I am used to it and I think the 360 controller is big and bulky and the buttons are uncomfortable. He likes the 360 controller and thinks the ps3 controller has things out of place and is too small.sharrak

You are probably right, but I like shooters, and the stupid analogs seem so close together. It just didn't feel right when I was playing resistance. I swear the 360 controller has to be at least four times as heavy.

Yeah I think if I were to get used to the 360 controller it would be better for shooters and racing games because of the triggers and all. The weight of the 360 controllers aren't too bad though They are a huge improvement from the original xbox controllers that came if you purchased the xbox in the 1st couple years.

I have both to and i have to agree with you the 360 is just the best game console out right now period. I think all the people that bash the 360 should give the system a try for 30 days and see if they like it or not and if they don't hell take it back to walmart and if they do it will open them up to a lot of other great games they are missing out on.thermovie644064

I used to own a 360. I sold it after I got bored with the games out (back in Feb) and it kept on freezing, giving the 'insert disc' error etc. but the main reason I sold it was because of the monthly fee for Gold - which I'm still against to this date. Although after E3 I am interested in Bioshock and maybe Lost Odessy but the 360's subscription fees and the still failing 360's do still put me off. Maybe when a game comes out that I really want on the 360 I'll buy it but not until then.

Btw, I also own a PS3 and a Wii right now too. I've played with both the PS3 controller and 360 and don't find it too difficult to switch between the two - although I don't like the weight of the 360 controller.

Overall yes the 360 does have a lot of games but M$'s business model (eg. the overpriced wifi module) and the question of hardware reliability are big doubts in my mind. I'll give it another 6-12 months before I pick up an Elite or something but for now, I'm happy with my PS3 and WiiPut simplythe PS3 has more games which I'm interested in. (Did I mention I also have a PC with those great RTS/FPS games too?)

The controller is probably my biggest gripe with the PS3.

The triggers, for some unknown reason, are convex. Any trigger on any weapon or control mechanism is concave to accomidate a round finger. Its just a bizzare design choice.

Having the D-Pad where it is, is very archaic. The D-Pad isn't important in contemporary games and shouldn't be in such prime positioning on the controller. I also hate the "disjointed" design of the pad as it carves up your fingers in fighting games. The thumbsticks are also somewhat arkward to hold, they feel distant from your thumbs natural position, though they offer less resistance than the 360's which I like.

If the 360's D-Pad was better it would probably be the best controller ever made, if it isn't already. Excellent design.
