My opinion of a 10/10 game! agree or not?

I've posted this already in a thread ( with the question if all games that got a ten deserve it ), but i want to know your opinions on the subject! ( and please, let it not be some fanboyisch discussion and maybe with some guy's that are longer here then yesterday ). And it's not because it's PS3 game that i got my doubts about it, but because two tens in a month is silly! If gears of war 2 get's a ten, i wouldn't agree either! ( if it's not revolutionary ).

Okay, this is the first time i ever post at gamespot, but i have been keeping up with system wars for about five years. ( Not to be amused with these little gamewars among gamers , but for this is a great place to get information about games really fast! )

I think OOT deserves his 10 out of 10 score completely! I just started playing GTA V ... the other ones i never played! But let me get back at OOT! Gamespot's review, among others, called OOT flawless ( for it's time, it was IMO ). For doubters i quote ' Ocarina of time definitely follows in the footsteps of the previous games, and the result is a game that can't be called anything other then flawless ' and ' In a word, perfect. To call it anything else would be a bald-faced lie. '

The controls were perfect, the sound was perfect, the world was, back in that day, really brought to life with an awsome story! It was a game that was revolutionary! Even for it's graphics ... From the review: graphically, ocarina of time is simply unmatched! EVEYTHING was the best for it's time!

Now, lets get back to todays standards! GTA V and MGS V! Beautifull crafted awsome games... i will never play the last so, even i'm in xbox360's favor, i can't really judge for myself! But do they both have perfect controls? very good, but not perfect! perfect graphics, the best for it's time ? no .... ( and 20 min. loadtime is just too much ) revolutionary ? no... inspiring? yes, in some places! It only think games that really offer a so called ' best in everything experience' deserve a ten! For example, one of my favorite games ever ' halo: CE '. It did everything so well, but it wasn't revolutionary! it was a 10 out of 10 experience for me, but in the world of gaming, it's not ( as it should be )!

That's wat happened, reviewers enjoy games like a 10/10 experience, and they judge it that way ... without thinking if there's more behind that experience! But in gamespots case, they can't give MGS V and GTA V a 9.9 or 9.8 ... with there stupid review system... we'll never now if they were REAL 10's! The scoringsystem here invites the reviewer to give a ten quicker then before! Let me explain: Halo 3, world in conflict, SSBB, crysis, super mario galaxy, the orange box ... all 9.5! (ironicly, i thought back then that gamespot was giving away to much high scores :roll:) But if you then play one game that is a little bit better, A reviewer is forced to give a ten, there's no way out! Gamespot couldn't give al games a 9.5 here! so they have to give more ... that is indirecly lowering you're standards IMO.

But for me a 10 is a game that gives you a 10/10 experience in a perfect way, and more!

Don't agree.

A perfect 10 by your own system is based on Personal preference, which means it still would have happened.
What you mean to say is you wish you could control the scores.

Either way, a 10 isn't a perfect game, read the description of it again.

Well thats what it means here at gamespot, especially with the new .5 increment rating system. Under the old system GTA4 and MGS4 would probably have gotten anywhere from 9.7-9.9.

I couldn't tell you if GTA 5 deserves a 10 or not. If it's the same as GTA 4, then possibly... 9.5, maybe. MGS4, on the other hand... The graphics (both technically and in style) are stunning. The music is great, the sound effects are the best in any game out there. (possible thanks to the uncompressed DD--and people said it was wasted space...) The story is great, even if you aren't afollower of the series; epic if you are. The gameplay is outstanding... unless you don't like 3rd person stealth action games. But that'd be like me saying the gameplay in MLB the Show is rubbish, because I don't like sports games. The point is, the game is as near to perfect as a game is going to get, for the time when it is released. Will a game come out later that is better? Probably. That's called raising the bar. You ask what makes a game deserve a 10? The answer is when a game is better than any similar game that came before it. That then sets a new standard. The next game should have to be better to get a 10. Since you quoted reviews for OOT to back yourself up...

Notice how they all indicate that MGS4 is better than what has come before, and sets a new bar to judge what is to come? That's what makes a 10.

To be honest MGS seams to have gotten 10 for being the perfect MGS. That is not the way to earn a 10 thats just doing the same trick over and over untill you get a reward.

To be honest MGS seams to have gotten 10 for being the perfect MGS. That is not the way to earn a 10 thats just doing the same trick over and over untill you get a reward.

Nearly every site/source has said that if you didn't like the old ones you wont like this one. As in "It's the same only MORE SO!". Does that mean if there was a fith Quake now or a fourth Halo or another cloneish sequal it too would get a 10? The game plays the same aswell, I'm not complaining about that I play MGS for what they are but in-so-far as gaming media goes I think the worlds been swept up in some sort of squeeling fanboy rush.

I don't think it's a 10 just for being better than previous MGS games, but for being better than previous games in its genre. A new Halo game coming out being better than a previous Halo is a given (at least I'd HOPE it would be), but that doesn't make it a 10. A new Halo coming out being better than any previous FPS out there? That's a 10.

If you didn't like the old ones, you probably aren't a fan of stealth action games, so true, you probably won't like this one (although you may, since you have more options than just stealth this time around). But that doesn't detract from the game, just means that you personally don't like this kind of game. If the next Madden game is the best sports game ever made, and it gets a 10, that's fine. Me saying I don't like sports games doesn't change the fact that it's the best sports game of all time. And the reviewer putting a disclaimer in there saying "If you don't like any of the previous Madden games, you probably won't like this one" doesn't mean they have to give it a lower score either.

First of all, its 20 minutes installation time - not load time.

Second, Zelda OoT can hardly be called perfect as well. it was too easy (final boss didnt even force me to use my bottle of fairy) and sometimes the camera gets in the way. And the game is more of a 3d-fied version of the a link to the past (which imo is better than OoT). The game aslo didnt age well (moot point, i know). And btw, SM64>>ZeldaOoT in terms of innovation.

yea, but i'm not giving a ten to OOT now, that would not be fair! back ten when i played it! deffinitely! i agree it didn't age very well! i have seen the finall boss battle on youtube a month ago and i was still feeling it! maybe it wasn't the most dificult! but it's settings, the final stroke! aa, beautifull!

GTA4 got a 10 even though it was not perfect becuase other things made up for it. Mainly the fact that it was FUN and how everyone always wanted GTA to be.

MGS4 got a 10 for many great reasons, it has the best graphics on any console to date, it (arguably) has the best story interwoven with the gameplay ever on a console. it has the best gameplay on consoles to date (according to the review) but another eason is becuause there is no comprimise whatsoever in the game.

You could say that these installs are bad but they are not. It just shows that the devs eanted to make the PERFECT MGS game and by having installs they can achive this. Therewas no comprimise in acting, sound, graphics everything to them had to tbe the best. The fighting has been greatly improved EVERYTHING is better. It just shows how much kojima wanted this to be in his view the perfect game.

not meaning something with this! but i am here since 2003! Gamspot did never gave a ten unless it was revolutionary or really perfect or tony hawk! yet, we have two this year! i just miss the old reviewingsystem! on every other reviewing site you could be wright! but gamespot was something different, now, it's not IMO
