Whoever releases a virtual reality based console first. Whether it's Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, or some other company...only time will tell.

Do you agree?

I feel that it will ultimately boil down to which company has a greater lineup of games for their new peripherals/handhelds. My gut is with Sony.

no. VR is one of those things that sounds great in theory but is just not practical. the tech is already there it has been for years...they could hook up a pair of goggles to a console and the goggles could have sensors to monitor head movement and then you could have a controller in your hand. you could also have gloves with sensors and perhaps more sensors strapped to your ankels to monitor hand and leg movement. another option is to have something like natal monitor your movement. but in practice people are just not going to do that in their living room. theres already a ton of complaints with the 3d glasses and the top priority of TV manufacturers at the mo is to get rid of the need for them. people are also not going to put lots of straps on.

i think it will be sony or nintendo next gen. sony have alot to prove, and will try to gain back the ps2 momentum.

microsoft just don't have enough power over europe and japan, so i think while they'll sell well in america, nintendo and sony will always be europe and japans first choice. the 360 has done really well this gen though, in europe too.

if nintendo match the other two in hardware i think multiplats will become even more common across the systems, which for me will be dissapointing because i'm enjoying the different games the wii is attracting.

This is System Wars and yet you're talking about companies... The real winner of the System Wars is and always the PC. It's untouchable in games and sales.

you make a good point, i made the same mistake of involving just the 3 companies. i would vote pc winner too, but sales are difficult to track, but i'm guessing gaming capable pcs do surpass all the consoles sales, possibly combined.

yeah and the video cards people buy each year for their gaming rigs beats em all plus the handhelds combined. if you dont have a top of the line gaming pc you myswell buy a 360 or ps3. no way i would buy a new card every 2 years for 300 bucks plus a pop.

No. VR is not the future of gaming, at least not for a long time. Even then, there will always be room for competition.

Well this gen the console winner is the Wii. Next gen who knows...but I don't see MS winning because xbox only sells in America and Europe.

this is false.as the wii formula and overly abundent amount of shovelware have grown stale.which is why its up to ms and sony to give the casuals a new outlet of fresh gaming.shovelwareless

this is false.

You underestimate their ability to modernize old products. I really don't know, but if anyone's gonna do it at this point, it'll be them. Virtual Reality is not the future of gaming. Not in my opinion anyway. Being so close to a screen could give some nice headaches. The winner of system wars will be the publishers once they all managed to come together for one solid purpose, nickel and diming you for every single game u play.

I dont know where you got the idea that you ahve ot buy a new videocard every 3 years. Ive this this one for 4 years and im still playing games at high resolution, including crysis.

And probably wont buy a new graphics card till next year (2011)

Well sales-wise it didn't do nearly as bad as the Gizmondo (770,000 vs 25,000).

I do wonder how things might have turned out if Nintendo didn't rush the Virtual Boy to the market so that they could focus on the N64.

Apple will be next gens winner. And Nintendo will be the first with VR gaming since they are all about being different and innovation
