So im back guys from my suspension and I had some free time so I went to my friends house who had a Wii.The only game I played was Wii Tennis which was fun but got repetive after an hour, then my friend played Zelda and Red Steel

This is where my problem sets in....The swordfighting in Zelda and Red Steel are almost exactly alike(both have the same way you swordfight...This worries me as this might mean other Sword Fighting games like POP would be the same gameplay. And other Tennis game might play the same way as Wii Tennis (just swing at the screen)So my problem is repetivness in gameplay of genres

And can someone tell me if you get new wepaons in Zelda do you still swing the WiiMote the same way?(ex.The beggining sword and the Master Sword)Ive only played to the begginning of the forest temple

Well Wii tennis doesn't judge how hard you swing the Wii mote and only 4 different angles

So there's room for improvement there....And the same way with swords,  they can add more angles to swing at,

plus im sure they'll be able to do 1:1 with sword fighting soon, after seeing it in Wario Ware

Developers will get used to the Wii remote and find better ways of utilizing it. So Im pretty sure we'll see more unique control schemes in the near future.

But Zelda isnt really the game that demonstrates how the Wii remote works as it technically is a GC port. And Red Steel is just a piece of neglection. Wii Sports is loads of fun IMO though, I still play it.

Zelda is a gamecube game. They added tilt in the sword. It will be improved in later games. Right now you just swing your sword and Link pulls off an animation. Im sure the next games will have real motion sensing in the swords. As for Wii Tennis... I still play it each day with great fun. No doubt it could use improvement. But I guess it will be the same as with the swords so just wait for newer games. :) Oh and as for your question. The master swords works the same. But... you can get lots of secret skills where you have to do cool stuff with the wii mote or nunchuck.

First thing that popped into my head is, how is that worse than hitting X in any playstation game about 13185135708 times? If anything it's much better because at least you're actually performing some kind of motion or gesture instead of tapping a button with your thumb.

I wouldn't judge weather you like the Wiimote or not on Wiisports

Also, Topspin is a good idea :P you could turn the Wiimote as you swing to put on spin,....see there countless things are still DEVs can do with Wii

what annoys me about the tennis is you just have to twist your wrists and it hits it. that took out the pleasure for me. i was enjoying swinging it until my friend laughed at me and said you can just wiggle it.

I personally think that when you're more preoccupied with HOW you're controlling or playing your game than the actual game itself, you've lost sight of what gaming is all about. The enjoyment of playing a game should come from the game itself, not the controller.

Play Wii bowling, Wii boxing is very good if you read the instructions and Wii Baseball becomes deep once people learn how to pitch. I never got into wii golf, but some people like it.

At first i felt a little wierd playing with the Wii-Mote in LoZ:TP, but with practice it felt really confortable, and the dual clawshot is the sexy with the wii-mote!

If developers can ever get a 1:1 ratio down, I'm sure we'll see a huge improvement in the motion sensing.

So why did you think the Wii wouldn't have repetitive motions in the gameplay of it's games?

Sounds like you are just looking for an excuse not to like it.

In sporting games like tennis, the amount of moves you could do with the wiimote is endless, in wii tennis its just swing forward. To improve, you could control the person with the nunchuck, do proper backhands, use as little or more force as you want etc. And, with zelda it dosent mimmick your sword movements, you just swing or move the wiimote and link will swing his sword, so theres already room for improvment for first person games like red steel where it picks up the wiimote movements.

obviously you never saw him play red steel and zelda then, becauase the sword fighting is completely different styles. plus, if it was completely different in every way, there wouldnt be any foundation to perfect swordfighting in future games. in almost every shooter you press the trigger button aim with the right trigger. does that make all shooters the same (except wii shooters, which rock)? no.

it may be repetitive to you, but its not to me. Id much rather play a tennis game like Wii sports than a different tennis game that uses a traditional controller, its more fun, and its easy to play and get into. Plus you've got to remember, its only the beginning of the consoles lifespan. Soon enough games for the wii will get better control schemes. you just have to give developers time.

I disagree. I don't think you can differentiate the game from the controls of the game. An example of this would be Wii Sports. The controls aren't that fundamentally different from other tennis games that have come out, only instead of pressing A to do a forehand and B to do a backhand you're actually acting out those actions. And that difference in control makes so much of a difference in the game. Perhaps this is just me, but I find acting out my actions and having that translate into victory much more rewarding than just pressing buttons to win. However, this means the difference between the good and the bad Wii games could be much larger than, say, the difference in 360 games. For example, Wii Sports Boxing. Great idea, lots of potential, but the controls are freaking broken! Trying to fight the computer is an act of frustration and, eventually, futility. In either way, the way you play the game has a huge impact on the game itself. That's a difference with the Wii: the controls become so much more important. When it's bad, it's BAD. But when it's good, it's awesome.

saying as all you ever do is bash the wii, and set the ps3 up on a pedistal and call it god, AND you made one of the poll options to ban you (which is winning), i say i have several reasons to tell you to stop posting.

now you say sword fuighting on wii would is repetetive, but almost EVERY SHOOTER uses the exact same aiming and shooting scheme. aim: right joystick, shooter: right/left trigger. you have no arguement to call sowrdfighting on the wii repetative with one of the most poptular genres using that control scheme in almost every game.

and all my reviews are jokes.

Wow. I actually agree with you on something! :P But, yeah, I view the Wiimote as meaning it has a higher potential for fun and a greater potential to be abysmal. The abysmal games suck, but as long as the Wii keeps getting games that are awesome, it'll more than balance out. However, even the Wiimote can't save some games. For example, Scarface is coming to the Wii. Swinging the chainsaw with the Wiimote sounds neat, but it won't change the monotonous nature the game settles into eventually.

[QUOTE="HeedleGlavin"]If you were using a standard controller - you could hit the same button for the same action in two different games, wouldn't you? poopinloop32
Like i said 8 hours ago the main attraction of the 360 and PS3 isnt the remote....but for the Wii it is

Yes, the main attraction is the Wiimote, but the point is - you swing the Wiimote to swing a sword in game. Why would you have to swing it a "different way" for two different games? Dosen't really make sense.

And can someone tell me if you get new wepaons in Zelda do you still swing the WiiMote the same way?(ex.The beggining sword and the Master Sword)Ive only played to the begginning of the forest temple poopinloop32

You chose some bad games to base this on.  Wii Tennis is supposed to be that way: simplistic.  Zelda's swordfighting was, indeed, tacked on and Red Steel's fighting just sucks.  In Zelda, to use the other items you press the B trigger.  The swords are the same.

[QUOTE="Can-o-Mark"]Developers will get used to the Wii remote and find better ways of utilizing it. So Im pretty sure we'll see more unique control schemes in the near future.

But Zelda isnt really the game that demonstrates how the Wii remote works as it technically is a GC port. And Red Steel is just a piece of neglection. Wii Sports is loads of fun IMO though, I still play it.poopinloop32
Yea but after an hour of playing Wii Tennis it seemed quite bland...it sure doesnt have that Topspin flavor

that might be because it's not topspin.

Eventually there will be 1:1 swordfighting, meaning whichever way you move the Wiimote is where the sword moves. However, in Zelda it's kind of basic. It's just like pressing a button, but a little more immersive. It's not perfect, but I still prefer it over just hitting a button.

It's hard to explain, but I find swinging the Wiimote more fun. For me anyways. I think it's because it's a step closer to immersing you into the game, even though the movement isn't exactly 1:1 in Zelda TP.

In all games with swords on other consoles, you swing the sword by tapping a button, or combination of buttons. With Wii you swing the Wii-mote in different ways. It's up to the developers to do things better.

Trust me, If you're basing your wii experience on Red Steel and the first few hours of Zelda, you'd never want to play it again.

Wii Tennis has topspin, backspin (great for drop shots), side spin (haven't mastered this yet), judges how hard you hit the ball, and you control how high the ball goes (this part I find slightly inconsistent, however, where sometimes I'd be pretty much swinging straight up but it'll hit the ball at a relatively low height). It's a surprisingly deep game, considering that you can't even control movement.
