My PS3 is fighting Cancer as we speak !!!

Did the update, and my PS3 is currently helping the fight against cancer :D

I got to say this actually makes me feel like I am actually doing somthing, my father died of cancer when I was 12 years old, and its somthing I will never forget, but this makes me feel like I am making a diffrence for future generations. ( I hope :P )

So all you PS3 owners ! GET FOLDING @ HOME NOW ! and get to work !  And if you don't have a team to join, join 33 its the

[H]ard team, they are a bunch of good folk over at www.hardocp.com ( great resource for computers )

O and PS3 owns ! :P  yea yea and so does 360 :P  and wii not so much :(  ( just played Wii play on my bros wii and its SUCKS ! )

Finally something useful to humanity for my PS3 to do!!! :D

I find it amazing how fast its going compared to my 2 Desktop PC's running it, the PS3 is by far WAY faster then both of them combined !

thats pretty cool, but I have to say that Wii Play isn't really a good game to play if you're a gamer :P it's kind of an introduction to the wii remote, should've at least played wii sports ;)Keibo

Yea Wii sports isn't so bad, but Wii play is vomit on a disk :(

You guys do know that you could have been doing the same thing with your PCs for the past 10 years, right? You didn't need to spend $600 on a PS3 for this.

yeah my friend dad died of cancer like 2 years ago..i hope PS3 will help find some cure for diseases and etc..Good for sony!!!

I have been using Folding@Home on my 2 desktops for a long time now :P  but the speed @ wich the ps3 is folding compared to my 2 desktop PC's is  amazing.

It's a shame that it's not being used to play games, but I guess they're trying to find other uses for it since the game thing didn't go so well. :Psonicare

Now why would anyone want to play games on their console?

I have this funny picture in my head of Cows sitting in front of their PoS3 doing nothing but staring at it with silly grins on their faces while the PS3 folds.  When rumble comes out, it can vibrate like mad for them when it's processing.

Thats cool I guess.  As someone who has faced two bouts of the Leukemia(form of cancer) myself, I am glad to see attention being brought to the disease.  Allot of attention goes to 3rd world countries fighting AIDS when thousands of people are killed from cancer every year in the US, many of them young children.

I am not sure what it is though, are they using the ps3 as some sort of medical computer?

Thats is pretty insesitive.  As some money does go to whatever you say, as much as possible is needed if any advancments are to come in the near future.  People need to realize that the smartest doctors can't do anything in the way of research unless they are funded in great deals.  Some of those machines they use in research cost hundreds of millions to buy.

Wow, that is pretty huge.  If the protien is folded, it can take characteristics of a tertiery structure and carry out biological functions useful in battling disease.
