Many of you will end up crying "Blog" but I think this is something everyone needs to understand.

There are a lot of people complaining that the vehicles are somehow going to make the game less of a platformer. In my opinion, adding fully customizable vehicles to the classic platforming aspects of a game only makes the platforming deeper. Half the fun in a platforming is find out how to get from point A to point B and then doing it. Add in on the fly vehicle creation and the possibilities and fun is endless. And don't think it will make the game any "easier" because I am sure that Rare recognizes and is planning that out. Just imagine the possibilties of vehicular platforming where the user can essentially create his/her own solution to various problems in the levels.

And from what has been said, it will also be possible to play the game without vehicles, but why would you when you can have so much fun messing around with different designs to solve different platforming puzzles.

Also, this game appears to be a return to something that needs to be focused on more in games... It is a return to FUN. It is a return to just pure amusement playing a game. And that is exactly what a Banjo game needed to be.

I enjoyed watching the spring loaded boxing glove work as a weapon and then work as a way to jump. That kind of design ability caught my interest.

that trailer. It also had a tiny bit of cla ssic platforming.

and it reinforces my idea that the vehicles will be used to augment the platforming, not make the game into some massive racing game.

I'm all for changing things up abit...but not at the cost of taking out most of the platforming sections to focus on vehicles.

I'm on the fence.

I LOVE the new idea. a collectathon would not resonate with modern games.

also, as a former avid lego builder, i love how you can simply put a propeller on top of comething and its a helicopter, or put wings on it and it flies. incredible

now regarding your post, i think that the new philosophy magnifies the platforming. in tooie, there were WAY too may moves. now, they give you a limited number of bear and bird moves, but give you hundreds of parts, which you create new moves out of. genius

did you not read what i just posted?

I said the vehicles are there to AUGMENT the platforming. The vehicles you can create will be used as solutions to cla ssic platforming problems that would normally be solved by different powers or other ways, but now are solved by vehicles.

Yeah I agree. It only adds to the game. Rare could have took the easy way out and made a standard platformer and be done but no they wanted to do something innovative.

thank you... someone who read my post and actually thought about it.

I think that Rare is going to be asking themselves "Why do we even try to make something awesome when all that happens when we do it is people complain because they don't understand its point..."

It's funny because if Rare would've sticked to the original Banjo formula, people would've complained about it's just 'more of the same' or a rehash. But now that Rare is actually innovating, people still find a way in which to complain.

Vehicular platforming may be a bit too radical though.

maybe but I can't help but applaud Rare for really trying to improve upon the old, tried and true platforming conventions. And I think that this is a perfect way to improve upon it.

Platformers are so lame. Who wants to go from point A to B in a linear ass level, collecting pointless crap.

I don't understand the whiners, crying because they didn't get a carbon copy of the same game they played 8 years ago.

Let's see:

You get a Banjo universe,

Familiar characters,

A game where you have to collect things (including parts), use them to figure out solutions to problems, and follow along a presumably engaging story with humour (assuming those elements are kept),

While making any kind of machine your imagination can come up with to overcome the problems and progress the story

And compete online with your inventions against other people's inventions

= pure awesomeness and something different

Great job, can't wait, day 1 buy

P.S. I don't care too much for living in the past. Nor do I want rinse and repeat.

Again great job.

I think it sounds like fun, not to mention there is still some traditional platforming in there. How else do you plan on collecting those musical notes? Ramming into them with your helicopter? :P

I thought people here liked innovation/change but now that it's happening they cry foul. Would I have enjoyed this game if they kept to the formula? Of course! Does this game interest me any less now? No way. In fact, it may even interest me more.

Dont want to judge it on the video they showed, but that video was very uninspiring. I love platformers, but that looked very... clanky and not very fun at all. Its level designs reminded me of spyro... which was a ps1 game. Not impressed.

Platforming, creating your own inventions and using them to fly across the world and so on. That sounds like fun to me. I can't wait to see some of the wacky inventions I can come up with. :)

I'm a huge Banjo fan, and I'm not going to lie; I am pretty disappointed with what I've seen. I mean it only reminds me of past games in the series because of the characters. The arts_tyle is different, and the gameplay seems to focus more around the vehicles than anything else. I mean where are the different transformations? I want to be a bee or washing machine again Rare. Where are the different moves you learn? I want to fly using Kazooie, not by making a plane out of parts. And the one world that has been shown doesn't even compare to Click Clock Wood which I consider the greatest level in any game.

Now what I and many others are disappointed about is that it was not the Banjo we were expecting or wanting. What made the past games so great, seem to be absent in Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts.

I'll admit that maybe I'm overreacting, but from what I've seen, I'm less than impressed. Hopefully more gameplay videos will cast some of my fears aside.

well... the screenshots without context didn't tell much. But after seeing the gameplay it was obvious that the vehicles were put in place to essentially replace the "powers" and give the user more freedom to enjoy the platforming.

Rares characters are my fave of any games. Conker, Banjo, and Kazooie. best ones ever!
