I strongly disagree with your opinions on the 360.
But the wii is mainly wining because of price/hype.

yeah. true. ps3 isn't over priced though.

TC, did you buy a used Xbox 360 from a friend on some careless whim? It sounds like you're intentionally trying to undervalue the games on Xbox 360 by scoffing at every single thing on it. I don't understand why you'd spend your lawn mowing money on it if you knew (at least you should know, you post on video game forums like us) that this is basically what the Xbox 360 offers.
PhoebusFlows
Ebay little guy, and it wasnt lawnmowing money. I have something called "a job". When you're a little older might have one as well. But seeing as you fancy yourself as some sort of art critic i doubt it
and the reason i got it was because the praise it receives from the likes of you . I was expecting an unparalleled experience on the system not a PC lite with narrowly focused software. Why are you getting so upset that i am dissapointed with my purchase, are you that much of am insecure fanboy?
I know you're not very much past freshman year of high school, so I can sort of empathize with the adolescent inability for foresight and care in these matters, but please be more wary next time you make a handsome purchase with the parent's weekly allowance. I do not want to see money squandered away like that.
PhoebusFlows
I'm actually a graduate, but i guess we can't all be reknowned art critics like you ("but teh statue in my avatar")
and nice use of the thesaurus there. If it weren't for your irrational hatred of all things kiddy and your fanboysish aversion to any criticism of the 360 you could almost pass for being over 14.
[QUOTE="darkIink"]I want real games not small downloads (the XBLA games not the demos). Anyway, BD seems to be unliked by some reviewers, and mass effect is a shooter with some rpg elements. Finally, I hate party games (no VPPA for me), and all racers are the same game with different tracks. See the 360 has no appeal to a former GC/PS2 gamer. Tactis
did you ignore the part where i talked about kameo? what about the original viva pinata? what about overlord?what about upcoming games like naruto rise of ninja? scene it?it has to have some appeal i mean it has basically every gener...of course its not as good as the ps2 but it sure is a heck of a lot more than the ps3.
and to the TC any chance you are going to respond to my post?
[QUOTE="Gen007"][QUOTE="SaintBlaze"]Your opinion on the 360 just screams fanboy. DSgamer64
yeah as soon as someone says the 360 has no variety their whole argument null to me
So the truth hurts then. One JRPG out right now which is a flop and a bunch of sports, shooters and racing games. Not exactly what I would call variety, especially comparing it to the PS3 and Wii's upcoming onslaught of games in the next 9 months, there is far more variety between the PS3 and Wii respectively then the 360 will ever get. The TC is right, the Wii has the most variety of games and mass appeal, regardless of what game genre you like, it is there for the Wii.
do people ignore my posts on purpose? its freaking orange.. it talks all about how the 360 has a huge amount of variety if not at least read my thread link: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=25870188
I guess you are too blind to read my post. I specifically said that the 360 lacks anything AVAILABLE that isn't a Shooter, Racer or a Sports game. Blue Dragon is out soon and is getting not so good reviews, and I was right in saying all along that it would be a sub par JRPG. The 360 is getting two more JRPG's that I know of and those are Last Remnant anda Final Fantasy 11 expansion, not exactly exclusives. So where are the platformers? Got none of those aside from that horrendousSonic game that came out several months ago. How about fighting games? A couple of rehashes like Tekken, Soul Caliburand Dead or Alive, not exactly original content, just prettier graphics and better boob physics. Action adventure, Kameo was proven to be a pretty horrible game, I played the demo and can safely say it is nowhere near the quality of Zelda even though lemmings seem to think it is. How about we go through a list of upcoming 360 hypegames in the next while.
Two Worlds (roleplaying)
Stranglehold (shooter)
Blue Dragon (rpg)
Dynasty Warriors: Gundam (this game is going to suck anyway so no one should be hyping it)
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 (sports game)
Medal of Honour: Airborne Assault (shooter)
NHL 08 and NHL 2k8 (sports)
PGR4 (racer)
Halo 3 (shooter)
See my point? Between now and October, all the best 360 games are going to be shooters or sports games, there are a few racers as well but I did not put them in because no one is hyping crap like Stutman and Juiced 2
[QUOTE="Heil68"]Whats your live tag? What games have you played? bulletmath
i played a bit of lost planet (it's the only game i own)
and i downloaded the blue dragon demo and the darkenss (download took ***king ages). The only one i played is the Blue Dragon demo (the one where the robot goes in the spaceship and you have to save the girl with the collar round her neck) and i only played it for a minute. I don't know what the tag is, it was the guys who sold it to me
it's pretty dissapointing so far
Dead rising, go buyit now. its the best game so far on the 360 besides oblivion IMO, how this didnt get AAA is beyond me.
edit: crap or go get bioshock. I keep forgeting that bioshock is out because my 360 died on me yesterday and I was going to buy it today. I'm going to kill someone over there at MS.
You kind of made a bad choice in making Lost Planet your first game, if you were expecting a lot. The "It's a shooter console" becomes a bit overrated. I guess I can see why people think that, though.
Also, how long would you estimate your demos took to download?
It's your fault. Not my problem you are suffering from consumer defeat.
I see the gifts of Monet that you cannot understand. Similar to the way i see the value of Xbox 360 that you cannot grasp.
There is no thesaurus here. My language abilites are extraorinarily sharp when compared to yours, walrus fetishist.
A long list of demos to try, arcade demos to download, your scandalously blazing internet connection, and a library with over 20 1 million+ selling titles, and you are crying on the first day of purchase. You were armed with the wide gulf of the internet to research, debate, and consider your purchase. Not Microsoft's fault for your hasty decision. I believe critical thinking is an advanced course not available to middle schoolers yet.

you got to be kidding me... your attacking the 360 lineup based on third party games? they are also coming out to the ps3 and wii also they cant count because Microsoft has not control over what type of games come out how about we look at all exclusives for the rest of the year(from my link which you dint read "the 360 is getting two more jrpgs that i know of")
its like me saying the wii line up sucks and i put every single third party sports game from ea(madden tiger woods, nhl, like you did) you have to look at exclusives
Halo3( the ONLY 360 exclusive left for this year after september 24th thats it boys and girls for the shooter console.)
Mass effect(rpg)
blue dragon(jrpg)
eternal sonata(jrpg)
lost odyssey(jrpg)
ace combat six(jet fighter simulator)
naruto rise of ninja(platformer/action adventure)
pgr4(racer)
world in conflict(also on pc, RTS, anyone notice how the ps3 has no RTSs this entire console generation so far? while the 360 is about to get three?)
viva pinata party animals(casual, family oriented)
scene it(see above)
Did you download the viva pinata demo? heck the game is $20 thats family oriented. What about kameo(also a demo)? did you browse all the casual xbox live arcade games(the free arcade game like aegis wing heck my60-year old dad could understand that game). Did you download all the cool demos of soo many xbox live arcade games? small arms, worms etc most of those are very family friendly. not every game is on the pc and there is a downside(espically in bioshock with rootkits, only able to install twice etc..)What the heck is with this not fully next gen crap? by your logic neither is the wii so out of the three conles only ps3 is?Tactis
Sorry for the late reply Tactis, I was dealing With Phoebus flows childish Histrionics
With regards to variety, i did see the Viva Pinata demo and i am going to download it but apart from Blue Dragon it was the only one that stood out (and Blue Dragon was really dissapointing). The 360 already has Pac Man installed but i dont want to buy any more XBLA stuff. you couls argue that they might make me change my mind but i buy a console primarily for its full price bespoke software and in that regard the 360 dissapointed me
The reason i bought up the hard drive issue was because it sends out mixed message. Form day one the 360 was touted as a graphical and technological powerhouse, but we are hearing from developers that the lack of a hard drive as standard is putting a dampner onc reating biger and better experiences. All this so they could keep the core as an ill advised attempt to compete with the wii, it's a bad move
Great deal more varity? what the heck... this is not xbox vs. ps2 the ps3's best game right now is resistance which is a shooter, motorsotrm is a racer heck the ps3 only has one rpg out this ENTIRE year(folklore) while the 360 has four(mass effect, blue dragon, lost odyssey, eternal sonata) and other games, Ace combat six(flight simulater), viva pinata party animals(very very casual and family oriented), naruto(platformer/action adventure) not to mention all the non shooter games already out like kameo, overlord, pgr3, froza 2viva pinata, all the xbox live arcade games.True about 2008 however still some good games like uncharted, heavenly sword. price yes very good point
Tactis
All the PS3s games this year are pretty weak, they're just being overhyped to try and disguise this fact
but i do feel that the PS3 has greater variety, thanks largely to the first party stuff. Titles like little big planet, ratchet, final fantasy and battlefield valkyrie go above and beyond the usual space amrine WW2 tom clancy crap and i think this is a great strength
reasons why I think it is selling.
Its new (as in never been done on colsoles before)
its cheap
great marketing
mass apeal
nintendo's got some killer aps coming out this holiday
wii sports
twighlight princess
GC owners sick of having nothing new to play.
You want to hear my theory? 2 Major reasons:
1) It looks good
Everyone knows the wii is a good looking console, it's compact and shinny; Casuals and the Japaneses freaking love that stuff. It automatically appeals to younger audiences more than the 360 and definitly more than the PS3. If you show someone who's never played a console before the wii, ps3 and 360 and asked them which one would they buy right now. I guarantee you 90% would say wii. Image is very important, just looke at the ipod.
2) VERY affordable.
It's the cheapest console by far. This only further's it's sales dominance. Even if the wii was $350 it would probably sell better than the 360 but since it's even less at just $250, it sells way better.
I gaurantee you, if the wii looked like the ps3 and cost $300 or more. Even if it had better graphics, it would sell no where near as well as it's selling now.
[QUOTE="hummer700"]I strongly disagree with your opinions on the 360.
But the wii is mainly wining because of price/hype.
mistervengeance
yeah. true. ps3 isn't over priced though.
It is if all you care about is playing games.

its just too freaking expensive to begin with. and I do think that it is overpriced if you dont want a bluray player.
You know why the Wii is winning in sales? I can tell you why just from an experiance I had while at Best Buy.
I was at Best Buy just browsing cheap Xbox and PS2 games and I noticed that they were sold out of Wii's. During that time, at least 3 families, two with young kids and one with a teenage girl came looking for Wiis. That is exactly why it is selling so well, it appeals to everybody but espeically families with kids. Its cheap fun for the whole family.
I see more mature gamers (teens and up) browsing the Xbox 360 and PS3 sections, but I see a fair share picking up Wii tiles as well. But the Wii appeals to the largest market, and it will sell the most because of that.

Ding! Ding! Ding!
We have a winner!

If you all you can list is the same crappy games, most of which are on other platforms like Scene It, World In Conflict. No one cares about kiddie garbage like Naruto though, those games sell horribly, as did Lost Odyssey in Japan. You proved my point with PGR4, all the 360 has is shooters, racers and sports games, thats it RIGHT NOW! God you must be daft though, 5 RPG's at most are coming out for the console, a few not until next year like Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey. And one flight combat game which will blow chunks anyway does not make up for the poor diversity of the 360.

I fail to see the games on the Wii either, I own one, and am terribly bored of it.

look this thread has been nice lets not degrade it with insults...
1. eternal sonata-release September 17th 2007, mass effect-November 2007, lost odyssey-Q4 2007
2.um... world in conflict and scene it where to point out diversity i dont know if you have noticed but there are no RTSs released for any other console besides the 360
3.5rpgs> more than ps3 1 rpg(folklore), i dont know the wii's rpg but if you can list them that would be helpful instead of just saying it has no diversity...
4.it is the most diverse console when compared to the ps3, for the wii.... i guess, maybe not, but i mean the wii basically has party games and an action adventure like zelda. It is a matter of opinion
so i guess you could make a case for the wii but for the ps3? got to be kidding me they have resistance(shooter), ridge racer 7(racer), and motorstorm(racer) if the 360 has poor diversity as you say with kameo, overlord, command and conquor, lord of the rings battle for middle earth 2, viva pinata then the ps3 most have horrible diversity according to you...

ok.. just to clear something up, mass effect may be an rpg, but you still shoot people a bunch, so it's a shooter to me.
LOL the wii has great games? It has the most pathetic library of the new consoles and its upcoming lineup looks absolutely terrible. The only reason the Wii is doing so good is its so dam cheap and the fad wont last forever.
Your opinion on the 360 just screams fanboy. SaintBlaze
If you're not a fan of shooters, you've basically eliminated PD0, GRAW 1 and 2, Gears of War, Bioshock, R6V, Lost Planet, Condemned (not quite a shooter, but it's a safe bet people who don't like shooters won't like it), and Halo 3.
You're basically left with Forza, Kameo, and maybe Dead Rising. I don't know about you, but looking at what excells on the 360, then comparing it to what just does pretty good, it's obvious that the 360 is the console for shooter fans.
either you did not buy the 360 and are a sheep who pretended to or you are really youg (less than 12 years of age).
Hmmmm, aimed at unmarried men ad young boys huh? I'll be sure to mention that to all they girls I run into playing Uno and R6 vegas.
Everyone has turned this into a fight over exclusives,, which was not the point of the thread. The point was variety, right?
Well lets see, between now and Christmas, the titles I plan to pick up for myself are Beautiful Katamari, Thrillville, The Simpsons, Guitar Hero 3 , Rock Band and Eternal Sonata. Plan to rent Crash of the Titans.
My fiance plans to pick up Halo 3, Mass Effect, COD4, Conan, Assassians Creed, and Blacksite Area 51.
So I just listed 13 games, only 3 of which are shooters, none are racing/sports etc. Are alot multiplat? Sure. Do I care as long as I get to play? Hell no ;)
the wii is beating the competition because of the wiimote, that's all. True, the price is a big selling point, but it's not like kids and everyone gets hyped for a piece of tech because it's cheap.
The wiimote is more intuitive than analog sticks so it is much easier for new gamers to get into (even though the controls are more cumbersome than conventional controls ironically enough). It makes games like wiisports, rayman and warioware possible although the other consoles could eek out a similar experience I suppose
The wiimote is new anddifferent and so hardcore gamers are interested in it.There seems to be some real promise, like there will be some real different gaming experiences once the console gets its second wind, like the wave of great games for the DS that came after an awkward initial phase. There will beoriginal IPs that will succeed like RE4 did as an accomplishment of gaming, only better because they are ground up. I'm hyping Disaster: Day of Crisis for the this potential
+plus nintendo is a great game company. I've always liked their games. You can say 'rehash' all you want, but nintendo still makes a well crafted experience for most of their games. New games like brain age and wiisports are exceptions, but not the rule remember.
btw, the wii is the only current gen console I own, but I'm getting a 360 or ps3 this holiday season (not as a present, I'm buying it. Just a coincidence)
This coupled with Sony's confusing marketing strategy and conflicting messages (we dont need rumble!! now we do!!) has pissed off a lot of people.bulletmath
The only reason why they are bringing back rumble is because people were complaining out the ass about it not being included with the system. Now that they have settles with the creator of rumble people are still complaining. You should just be happy they decided to settle with their asses.

blue dragon(jrpg) poor reviews
eternal sonata(jrpg) good
lost odyssey(jrpg) good
ace combat six(jet fighter simulator) appeals mostly to the shooter fans
naruto rise of ninja(platformer/action adventure) cute, should I hype alien syndrome to match this?
pgr4(racer) racer, we're trying to avoid shooters and racers remember?
world in conflict(also on pc, RTS, anyone notice how the ps3 has no RTSs this entire console generation so far? while the 360 is about to get three?) good for 360's variety, not my type of game
viva pinata party animals(casual, family oriented) I'm not a casual gamer just b/c I hate shooters
scene it(see above) see above

fyi, my responses are to prove 360 is for shooter fans, not about the original TC's topic of variety.
