We all know that good graphics is important to many people, but when Nintendo claims that graphics in games have reached ther saturation point, that made me start to think a bit. When I saw Gears of War (along with other games) on a HDTV, the graphics were almost life-like. If this is the case, how will we ever look at the Xbox 360 and PS3 in 10 years time and call the graphics "crap" like we do with the PS1? The human eye has its limitations, for example we supposedly cannot tell the difference between 90 frames per second and anything beyond that. So if the PS4 had capabilities of displaying 120 frames per second, that will not matter at all for us.
Most of us will NEVER look back at the PS3 or Xbox 360 in 10 yeas time and call the graphics "poor" like we did with the PS1 and N64, etc. If a console is capable of producing graphics powerful enough to display a characters face along with their facial expressions, that is all that matters to many people. The PS1 an N64 had poor graphics, and many character's faces were blurry or under-textured, so the graphics were not enough, unlike the PS2 in which you can see a character's face more clearly.
Don't get me wrong, I love good graphics. I am one of the people screaming for a Final Fantasy 7 remake on PS3 for the good graphics. It is just that graphics do not judge a consoles success as they used to, and the Wii and DS are proof of this.
