My Xbox One hands on impressions

Verdict: Meh

I played xbox one and a bunch of games at a Microsoft event in dublin.

In short, fifa forza battlefield and cod are all great but more of the same.

Ryse isnt terrible but it is a simple brawler, nothing special at all. Except the graphics which are spectacular.

Dead rising 3 was only a short demo but seems awesome, the open city, vehicles and many buildings are great additions to the formula.

Killer insinct was good fun, crazy combos and shiny graphics.

lococycle was bad, even though I love twisted pixel, the devs.

Crimson dragon was good if you like rail shooters... which I dont :p

there was some kinect crap too. Only the xbox reps were playing it....

The only standout game was dead rising 3. The rest were good but not "next gen" worthy imo. The graphics looked like super pretty xbox 360 games, not next gen (except ryse). The controller rocks however, its even more comfy than 360 and the rumble is amazing. Individual triggers rumble when you accelerate or brake in forza for example. Awesome.

Generally id say dont bother yet. Xbone seems like a "7th gen+" machine rather than 8th, at this point anyway.

What exactly where you expecting?

That is actually good news - Turn 10 has had a winning formula since the original Forza, so its good to hear they didn't start making Need For Speed.

The Xbone 720p is a failure that is targeted at casuals.

People expecting amazing launch lineups out of either system clearly haven't been gaming long.

compared to a review of the PS4/10? Broken and games scoring a 4/10 average. This system is the real failure.

Way better than the PS eye anyways; Kinect>PS Eye. Also you're acting as if the PS4 has any games right now when both Killzone and Knack flopped. And the PS Eye costs $60, compared to a $100 Kinect.

Upscaled 1080p from native 720p with a stable framerate(consistent 60 fps) on COD:Ghosts is way better than COD: Ghosts Native 1080p with an unstable framerate.

Honestly, I'd rather have a consistent framerate than the tiny difference between upscaled 1080p and native 1080p.

Knack framerate: runs at 30-40 fps, even dips to as low as 14 fps even without much stuff in Knack.

At least people with Xbox's can play Titanfall in March. I don't think the PS4 has anything exclusive worthy games for multiplayer. Killer Instinct and Forza are really looking good for their genre. What multiplayer games does PS4 have? Killzone? Meh.

Also, don't bring the argument that you can play Titanfall on your PC, cause most people buy consoles in order to cut costs. Most people can't afford a decent gaming rig or are not into playing PC. Tons of people wishing Titanfall wasn't an exclusive to Xbox One and PC is testament to that.

The only standout was a 720p game that has a consistent framerate of 20fps and dips 1 frame away from single digits. ha

Killzone: Shadowfall framerate: Far from 60 fps. It is 40-50 fps on average and even dipping to 30 fps.

I just got my hands on one about an hr ago. Got to play Forza, Fifa and Cod. I have to say as someone who was going to get a PS4, my hands on impressions and demos I got to see of people using kinect and the snap features has me back onto the Xbox side. I have a 360 and was a little disappointed about a few things on the X1 but now that I've seen them in action I'm very impressed.

There aren't too many PS4 exclusives I'm interested in but there are the xbox ones I'll always want to play. I'm glad to say I held out on getting a PS4 at launch and I'll probably try to get my hands on an X1 before Christmas.

Im very amatuer at the genre but it seemed great. You move your character, you have rolls left and right. Main attack was charge, lock onto enemies, release. Secondary was normal blaster, but you had to charge it by using main. It was easy to beat levels but I only got c and d ratings. Easy to play tough to master. Seemed really good example of the genre but as I said im not such a fan and it was only a brief demo :)

Still, Forza > All racing games, you can check metacritic and know that it has earned universal acclaim compared to Gran Turismo.

Poor desperate sony fanboy, trying to bring in DLCs to the equation because you can't find any flaw in the game. That's how good Forza is.

Best first-party support from Naughty Dog, which produces games that are single-player oriented rather than multiplayer oriented. God of War = Single-player , Quantic Dream = Single-player games only. Killzone = flop

Multiplayer games:

Xbox - Titanfall, Halo, Project Spark, Sunset Overdrive, Dead Rising 3(You can play co-op from start to finish), Forza 5, Killer Instinct

PS4 - Uncharted , Killzone, Driveclub, Gran Turismo 5, Knack?(Crappy Co-op)

I prefer multiplayer oriented games as they provide many many hours of replayability as compared to single-player oriented games.

But looking from the PS4 list, the only 1st party game that even has a great story there is Uncharted.

How can you come to such a stupid conclusion when most games aren't even announced yet?

And lol Titanfall is a multiplat and better on PC, Halo is dead with 343 and lol at the rest. They are mediocre multiplayer games. The best multiplayer games are multiplat anyway and PS4 has better hardware so they will also be superior on the PS4.

Sounds great, it's basically the only game i'm interested in checking out. From the footage i've been seeing, the reticule that you move seems a little too big, and the camera behind your character seems a little too close and may clutter the view.. Very interested to see how this game turns out to be. But it's real nice to know of an opinion from someone who actually played it.

I don't care about the genre in particular, but the Panzer Dragoon series.. that's just something unique and special. Zwei is my favorite, but Orta is the easiest to get into because it's flawless. Man you definitely haven't played Panzer Dragoon Orta :)

I honestly think MS launch games will review better than SOny's... but I didn't buy a PS4 thinking "OH MAN, THIS SYSTEM IS GOING TO BE BETTER THAN THE OTHER ONE FOR A WHOLE 3 MONTHS!"

You know this always makes me chuckle. The PS3 is the ONLY Sony console that shined with first party developers. Both the PS2 and PSX were heavily reliant on third party support which they lost this past gen.

So...despite only one of their consoles being first party heavy were going to assume that the PS4 is going to deliver with 1st party titles like they did with the PS3?

Killzone and Knack are 1st party titles that have already flopped. The 3 games are Infamous, Order 1866, Drive Turd and Uncharted, One of them is a PS3 level racer that can't hit 30 fps, one of them is an unproven franchise, one is the sequel to an AA level franchise and one is Uncharted.

Of course they'll obviously announce more exclusives at E3 But at the rate Sony is announcing them, on top of their tendency to constantly delay games most likely the PS4 won't be able to match the XB1's library until 2015 at the earliest, and I'm only talking about the announced XB1 lineup.

Better first-party devs? Like how Killzone, Knack, and Beyond:Two Souls flopped? Forza > GT/Drive Club

Only first party game developer that is good there is Naughty Dog. God of War hasn't been living up to AAA standards recently.

I love how people are calling 'meh' on the launch titles, as above, with the exception of Ryse. Are they forgetting, aside from Forza, that the rest are pretty much prettier last gen games? FIFA, Battlefield, COD and ACIV are all previous gen games.

If they wanted stunning versions of the above games, devs would probably have to start from scratch.

The ones that are made for XBox One are great graphically.
