I think it's more "an online-centric game got released the same time PSN was taken down for a month after being hacked." Thankfully, while it had a great multiplayer element, the single-player mode of "Portal 2" kept it afloat.
Back to the original question: "Syphon Filter." Then "Point Blank" in some form. (VR, maybe?)
@Xabiss: Yeah it's a shame since they had a lot of multiplayer games last gen such as Killzone, MAG, SOCOM, Motorstorm, Resistance and Warhawk.
I get that single player stuff is their focus right now, but there's a lot of multiplayer potential there seemingly being ignored. In terms of FPS, they released Killzone: Shadow Fall and it's almost like they got scared after that as you said.
I'd say Legacy Of Kain, but they'd probably turn it into a shitty movie game where a bunch of scripted sequences fire off with QTE's to give you the illusion of playing a game.
So yea, leave that shit dead. I was pretty happy with the ending.

Too many to mention for me, but after I downloaded this off GWG, I pick Mercenaries. The first two games picked war-torn versions of totalitarian run locations (North Korea in Playground of Destruction and Venezuela in World in Flames, though the latter had pretty bad reception) in a GTA-esque style game. But I feel that like Wolfenstein and Far Cry before it, it's going to have to start more controversy (each respective game was bashed by South Korea and Venezuela, hell PoD was banned by the former) and pick a location that calls itself "United" in order for it to have some relevancy, and possibly in certain locations of those areas as well (like here for the Kingdom and/or for the States)
Hard Corps Uprising - one of the best 2d games to come out since they made their comeback in the last decade or so. Konami doesn't need to do any work, just let Arc make it. Too bad those ass hats would probably just make a pachinko machine instead of a sequel.
Turok or Dino Crisis - I just want a dino shooter with modern graphics
Any good arcade racing series.
Ninja Gaiden. Just copy and paste the best parts of the 1st two games and update the graphics.
I've never played Tenchu, but would love to see a new one.
