Sports: I just can't get into most sports games Fighting: memorizing a bunch of moves and combos isn't just that fun and it makes me feel "robotic" World War II (oh c'mon you know it is its own genre): Theres just too many of them.
Sport games aren't stale. They never can be. Every year you get improved graphics with roster updates and player ratings. If your a big enough fan of the sport, then that alone is good enough for you.
Stale Genres, in order: 1. Light Gun Shooters. There is potential, but never realized. 2. Sports. Come on 2K Sports! 3. Platformers. So many untapped ideas, and most are just rehashes of the same stuff.

I agree. Crackdown was a nice try but... I think this particular genre has a lot of potential for innovation but I think developers are relying too much on tried and true conventions that were introduced during GTA's recent run. Nice try from Crackdown, though.
All the other have changed or will change one way or another:
RTS - Total War series revolutionised it with FPS controls and ultra realistic parameters Racing - There are racing sims where is car destruction Sparts - The WE/PES series are gameplay heaven
FPS, RTS and Sports....oops sorry PC gamers, I forgot those are the only 3 genres you get...:lol:XenoNinja
No one plays sports games on the PC. The reason RTS's seem stale is because they cant hide lack of innovation with cool graphics and presentation like you can with RPG's and Action/Adventure games etc. They depend 100% on gameplay. In reality I would say RTS's are advancing faster then most genre's.
