Natal has to be the most gimmicky piece of GARBAGE I've seen since Virtual Boy

Playing games with no controller and no rumble feedback will lead to an extremely 'airy', 'disconnected', 'flailing' gameplay.

What kind of genres can Natal play outside of waggling your limbs around and jogging on the spot?

The demo's looks beyond lame and fake (Milo), even the Wii type commercial where the family was playing together which was fake as hell and meant to show off the possibilities of Natal looked like some of the most boring, uninspired, gimmicky crap I have ever seen. Or how about playing Burnout with an invisible steering wheel? Why? Is this supposed to be better than a real steering wheel? Looked janky as hell and totally imprecise.

This thing is going to be a $100-$200 game of kickball.

I cannot understand how this garbage idea that looks doomed to failure gets any attention whatsoever. I can only imagine how many problems and failures early games running with device will have. Do I have faith that MS can pull off a miracle and make it work?

Hell no.

While I do see Natal working for some specific games, I see no possibility for it work at a deep control level with any game that required a 3D plane of movement : there is a limit to how much you can move within the provided camera space, and having movements outside of the camera's 2D plane seems impossible to achieve without resorting to some controller that allows you to interact within the 3D landscape. And Natal is being advertised as a product technology that requires no controller outside of your own body.

I look forward to see how MS & Sony will implement their motion controls in games like Racing, FPS, Fightingetc etc cause if they just utilise that technoogy in the usual mini-games (sports etc) than i'll definately pass on getting such peripherals..

Honestly i was more interested / impressed with the EyePet rather than Natal & Sony's motion control system..

I'll agree with you that it looks gimmicky, but imagine playing Natal with Fight Night. Man, that would be SWEET! So it's not a total disappointment, IMO. Just think of the potential. :)

what he said

pretty much expect a bunch of mini games and one on one fighting games

how do you boost and look left//right/back in burnout with natal?

is voice recognition accurate enough in noisy environments or for people who dont speak clearly?

i think i stick to controllers

i think it will be fun with mini games and boxing games though, but any thing out side that will either be a gimmicky add on (similar to the sixaxis use in games) or just frustrating to use

regarding your last point about the controllers, i reckon MS will go back on their words or atleadtlook for an alternative, coloured finger tippedgloves maybe?

Motion Plus and Sony's Wand are both alot more practical for gaming as they can be used in many more genres, and they both provide a physical imput device to attach the player to the gaming world.

Both Natal and Sony's wand suck hard. The Wii started this motion craze crap. I for one do not want to do cart wheels in order to play a game. Games are supposed to be fun and relaxing. Give me a controller or mouse/keyboard and a comfy chair any day. They can keep this motion crap. If you are going to do all this running about, you may as well go play the actual sport.

I thought thats what we wanted (Natal to be only for fun games). IMO, almost everyone who has tried Natal came away impressed. Experience carries more weight than random fanboys who are threatened by change IMO.

It won't reinvent the wheel, but it's a huge improvement over previous disingenuous attempts by Microsoft to cater to the non-gaming market, ie Lips, Viva Pinata, etc

Who says you can't incorporate Natal with the use of a normal xbox 360 controller to enhance a games experience? IGN had a good article on implementing it in games like Mass Effect

There is more to Natal then the motion sensor alone...

sure you can buy a steering wheel, but I don't use TV trays, nor do I have a table high enough that's at an accessible point to pull in front of the couch to mount the wheel. Let's face it, steering wheels are nice and all, but in a practical sense suck.

This.

Thats not to say the next major games like Halo:Reach, Gears 3 etc won't touch the technology, I think they will include it but as an option for short game sequences... the controller will still be primary for these titles.

Natal just offers Microsoft a path to join the Wii's marketshare with similar games. There is nothing wrong with using a controller for most games so I can't see it being a full on replacement..... its to attract pure casual markets.

Exactly why it's gimmicky. "Playing with no controller" has gimmick written all over it.

For the record I don't like Sony's crappy wand either. I hate nintendo now for bringing up all the motion crap.

I love how no one knows how to be negative with Natal, at the beginning it was "bu bu its not one to one".

Then people read some interview with the guy behind eye toy and waggle wand and were like "yes, Yes, YES, we need something in our hands, (clicks fingers) thats it".

All the fanboys are suddenly like "RIGHT to System Wars" (que camp 60s Batman music). TIME to write furious... "SOMETHING NEGATIVE", which subliminal translates to "BECAUSE ITS MICROSOFT". People are even using the same words and all of a sudden its "I want my feedback", no one mentions this before.

And suddenly the general opinion changed to "because waggle remote works so well on the Wii". You can't have it both ways, in the past all the Wii had was "teh waggle", now Sony have come up with the same thing, its now "teh serious business". But to be fair these are some of the people who were like "teh six degrees of freedom" talking up the six axis.

wait and see sounds good. i think all the hate is coming from a group that has supported MS even through the hard times and problems. Then they find out that MS is spending money and time on this! Not at all what the base is looking for IMO. Plus Milo was not the best way to display this tech to the folks who were watching E3 as fans and consumers. I mean that tape was SO bad, see "Milo feels ashamed look at his body lanuage" he can tell "you have a blue shirt on" super fail! how much money do you think they spent of that?

You can tell some people feel threatened by Natal and that is why there has been so many threads like this. You do not see any people really making threads about Sony's motion control ice cream cone because it looks like a bucket filled with fail so no reason for to make a ton of threads about it.
