[QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"][QUOTE="DeathScape666"] Yeah, I read that whole thing, and then, for some odd reason, I suddenly forgot what movie he said it was from. That was weird, I know. That's not something I normally do, and I would probably make fun of someone else if they did that. Anyway, I say Aliens a long time ago, and all I remember about it was that it sucked. The only reason why it's held in such a high regard is because it came out in the 1980's. The first one was bad, too. I didn't see the other ones, except for Alien versus Predator, which was also really bad. When I look back at all the 1980 films that were viewed as "classics," I can't help but cringe. Not that any horror movie this era is any better, but at least they get the hate they deserve. My dad loved those movies, but they really do suck.DeathScape666
They aren't held to a high regard because they are are from the 1980's, it's actually because they are really good action/horror films. Aliens is about colonization and how humans eradicate any life forms that get in our way. James Cameron nailed it. At what age did you see these movies? I'd really love to hear what you think are good horror or action movies. How is that at all original?I saw the films when I was ten years old maybe. I am seventeen years old. To be honest, I don't remember much of it at all. The only thing I do remember is that I didn't like it. But if you want me to tell you why the Halloween series sucks (every single one), I'd buy more than happy to tell you that. Believe me: I tried to watch these movies from the 1980's to see if they were any better than the recent ones, and they really aren't. They are just toned down on special effects, have less action, and therefore have more time to focus on their crappy plots. The only horror movie that I liked that I can think of off the top of my head is the original Saw from 2004. As for action movies... I'll get back to you on that one.
I wasn't saying it was original, i was demonstrating that is has more depth to it than a movie like Saw. It is a very good plot though. Saw is not even a good horror film. It relies on shock tactics, blood and gore. How is that scary?Alien on the other hand has suspenseful cinematography and expertly done pacing. It builds up and builds up. It doesn't just throw blood at the screen ever 5 minutes.
The characters in Saw are shallow and unlikable. No one give a **** about what happens to them. It is a boring, predictable film that won't be remembered in 10 years. Alien is still remembered today and is used in film literature classes as an example of a great horror film. Halloween was also a very influential film.
