I've always thought of myself as a good gamer but I only get good with plenty of practice but I have a friend that can pick up games in seconds, thats not to say he's a better gamer than me as the games we both like and have played for a while are really evenly matched but If we played a new game he would dominate me until I played it for a while.

So I just wanted to know what you guys think of yourselves?
(I know thins is a games forum and most of you think your pro gamers but try be honest)

Yep, Games like Smash bros as an example, My friends would only team with me, not fight me.

I hate it when people do that... its not hard to improve... it only takes common sense with games.

I remember when Gears of War came out people I kept hearing how hard the multiplayer aspect was and being comfunsed. This was because I was getting 5-7 kills a match after I figured out you had to run up to people to kill them. I got up to the top 300 in Gears of War when it came out. Now I'm somewhere around 20000.

i think if you play games enough you kinda know what is expected of you, likely paths the game will follow etc etc. You know, a seasoned gamer will know when a big battle is about to begin whereas a newbie wont. It's like people that watch movies a lot can predict what will happen, likely scenes etc etc, because most films follow standard paterns... games are very similar.

I'd say my brother was more gifted than me. But I'm more dedicated to getting better. He plays NBA 2K8 for money. I don't think I can be as good at any game as he is in NBA 2K. Dude's a beast.

I can usually pickup a game and know how the controls work and play a game with out being to confused of what i have to do, but it stil takes time getting some skills.

my friends on the other hand takes a little longer to master the controls and options of a game, and its almost unbearable sitting and watching them doing pirouettes trying to shoot some guy right in front of them, but they usually get better, and it evens out over time. :)

Depends on the type of game. I would say yes, but mostly in single player, its weird when I start a game for the 1st game on the hardest setting avalible and fly through it, while my friend goes to a "noob" setting and struggles. Yet, when we 1st try some multiplayer game, he puts me in my place...:(

Yup, I have 2 friends who are jsut naturally gifted at gaming. Funnily enough, one isn't even a gamer. Best example is, I got Guitar Hero 3 and neither of us had ever played any rhythm games before. He picked up the controller, played a track on easy and did it. Then immediately tried one on medium and did it. Then immediately went up to hard mode and passed it. Took me a while to catch up to his level.

Depends on the type of game but I usually get good very fast. Never have the dedication to get extremely good though. Only game I've done that for is Halo:CE.

MY best gaming achievement is a three-way tie between getting a 15 kill streak on Perfect Dark, beating Donkey Kong only dying three times, and collecting all the stars on Super Mario 64. Yea that takes some skill....I hope

yes i would say im naturally gifted. My brothers and friends hated playing multiplayer games against me and I beat pretty much any game I care about. The only reason I ever fail to complete a game is boredom. There is exceptions of course. I dont really like FPSes so I dont put in the time to be able to beat them on maximum difficulty. There are other genres i'm bad at too of course.

I think I am, especially when it comes to multipalyer FPS. Being the last of my friends to get TF2, I thought I would suck online. I was actually able to match my friends scores, and even ended up at the top of the server on my first game. Same when I played FEAR online. My first round I ended up coming third overall in a game with 16 players.

Depends on the genre. I rock at fighting games, platformers, turn based strategy (to a lesser extent RTSs), puzzle gemes, adventure games, action adventure games, and WRPGs, but I'm only good or ok at action games, arcade racers, JRPGs and shooters, and I am not good at racing sims, and most sports games, and it took me forever to get good a rythm games.

oh ya? i beat ninja gaiden 1-3 with no cheats, i also beat the original contra and super contra without dieing (i dont need no konami code son!), also beat ninja gaiden:black on hardest mode, i beat all halos on legendary alone (no co-op pfttt, was extremely hard though), had a pretty high rank on starcraft:broodwar back when they had the ladder system and also placed a good spot during the wgt tours, i beat devil may cry on dante must die, beat god of war 1 and 2 and hardest god difficulty, on cod4 pc version i am almost done with all possible achievements (multiplayer wise). i cant remember back to perfect dark and donkey kong country games that was so long ago, but getting all stars on mario 64 was not too hard imo, but gj none the less some ppl dont even try.

It really depends for me. I generally do well with action games/fighters and some RTS, but other types of games I'm pretty mediocre with, especially rhythm games (I do think they require practice though). I find FPS/TPS relatively easy to pick up and play (while still being good at them, generally scoring the highest in games such as Gears of War).

When I first played COD2 online before I even played the game normally. I absolutely anihhilated kids. It would be a rarety for me not to have top score.

Halo/2/3 I could beat my friends all the time who would play it constantly. Even when we would go online it would always be me and my friend mike neck and neck for most kills or highest score in a match. I dont own any of these games.

I used to play blackhawk down awhile ago online. Man I would destroy people on that. Most memorable moment I had in that game was when I had a silenced MP5. And I always knew that wher kids would come from and try to storm and area. So I would hide behind this porter potty thing and just lean out and lean back in. I racked up over 15 kills with in 10 minutes. The funny thing was people never knew I was there even though I had been there so long.

I dont really need to mention games like STALKER online, BF2 online, and 2142 online. I wasnt the best but I was pretty good. Especially STALKER online.

Its only certain games and mostly FPS. LikeI couldnt get into Gears online so I never really played it and I just wasnt very good even if I did play it.

Im pretty good at sports games. The thing that hates me most is the difficulty settings they have. Take madden 08 for instance. If I turn the difficulty up to pro guys will jump literally ten feet in the air and INT a pass even though the ball was no were near the defender. They magically no where the ball is all the time. I love when defenders INT my ball when there head isnt even turned around to see where the ball is they just throw up the hands and they magically INT the ball. This is why I turn up the difficulty to all pro and just manually turn down some of the most ridiculous things.

Depends, if it's a racing sim then I obviously have to practice, then again I think everyone does since each one is different, how you have to take corners. But for FPS's, normal Racing games like Burnout and GRID, TPS, and most other kinds of games I can pick it up super quick. I also don't really lose my stride with games, like I haven't played Mario Kart Wii for about a month but when I picked it up I won my first race with about a 20 second lead same as I used to before.
