Hmmm....I read a topic in Game Trailers Forum a while back when Uncharted 2 was getting rave reviews. I disagree because Uncharted 1 is not that great so their track record is not that consistent as Nintendo EDA or Blizzard (even their expansion pack is AAA) or Valve.

If Bungie is Tier 2 then so is Naughty Dog.

I would almost put Naughty Dog in Tier 1 since they have such Diversity in their work.

Crash Bandicoot was an Awesome 3D Platformer, Jak and Dexter can't say much about it but wasn't that an Open World Platformer or something like that?, and Naughty Dog made Crash Team Racing and Jak X Racing so they made Racing games, Uncharted brought the cinematics that the other games haven't pumped out.

So out of what Naughty Dog has done, They've done a lot more than what Valve and Bungie have done, but they are not in the league of Capcom, Konami and Nintendo.

I used to think Rare were the best, then they bent over for M$ and now it's harder to name a more famous dev that sucks harder.

They are up there though thats the point, "the best" is a personal choice but we should be able to agree who deserves honorable mentions.

They're not even the best rpg dev, if you go by success. WoW has been played by more people than BiowarIe's last 5 rpg's combined, regardless of its monthly fee. Blizzard, there's a dev which is undeniably top tier. So is Nintendo. Rockstar for completely dominating a genre. Sony has a few first party studios that are top. Crytek is very talented on the technical part as is ND, so these can be considered top devs too. I guess Bioware dominates the single player rpg genre though, giving them the status of a top dev too. Bungie and IW could be considered top devs for their dominance of the onlineshooter genre.

People might notice me forgetting to mention Valve here, but since CSS they haven't done much that impressed me (Portal was fun though).

No making one great game qualifies you for the best :roll: ND has been a solid Dev making solid games are they the best? LMAO not even close are they a top dev? yes.

In my opinion just because they have 1 awesome game doesn't make them the "Best Developer".

Bioware is known for RPGs (I'm going to go ahead and call Mass Effect an RPG even though I see it as more of a Shooter than one.) not much there but RPGs. you may have different types of RPGs like MMOs, Shooter RPGs, and just straight up RPGs but an RPG is still an RPG and not a different genre.

I think if a Developer Company wants the status of "Best Developer" they should explore all genres and make good games out of them.

Such things have been seen through Nintendo, Konami, and Capcom.

Rare(ware) was(is?) also at this point since they had/have a Racing game, a Fighting game, a Platformer, a Shooter, a Relaxing game, and now Casual Sports games.
