Also of note is Uncharted's "Medals" system, which parallels Xbox Live Achievements in that it awards players points (1,000 in total) for doing cool stuff like killing 50 enemies in a row without dying. The difference is that earning these actually does something within the game, unlocking new cheats and extras as you gain them. And the cheats themselves can actually be pretty entertaining, ranging from alternate costumes for various characters to instantly accessible guns to a "Next Gen" filter, which turns everything brown and slathers lots of inappropriate bloom-lighting effects everywhere. To hell with eventually seeing useless trophies in Home - this is what we'd like to see PS3 games do more of.

That isn't the same as achievements, as your Gamepoints is a "sum" total of all the points you have collected across all 360 games. Having one game which only internally displays a 'achievement score'-like ability doesn't do the idea justice. Also, the fact that these achievement points in Uncharted 'unlock' features is nothing new - seeing as there are 360 games that do the same. This is just the developer trying to feed noobs BS.

Yes. Reminds me of the VG Catz comic where they made fun of that as well. At the time it seemed very "next gen" game had this same color scheme.

Nice touch to add that in and a good stab at Gears etc but I feel you need to be carefull about poking fun when your game is a blatent rip off of Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones :P.

"Say what you will about the PS3, but Uncharted isn't just a standout for Sony -- it's a standout for gaming as a whole."from Ign. Read Ign and Eurogamer reviews. Also don't forget Gears was 9.6 with old GS system and that game with more score > game with less(Half Life 2 > Halo 2 and has less score).

They are both great games. But I prefer sci fi-fantasy . U can do a lot more variety with fantasy and sci fi. fantasyI watch nationall geographic I know what jerusalem and and a jungle island look like.

I would have prefered Uncharted to have some giant octopus, spider, and giant dinosaur to fight rather than good old reality.

people forget that the jungle adventure/action genre doesn't exactly saturate the game market like FPSs or RPGs. Comparisons to Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider are natural and expected, seeing as there are so few games of that type. So why knock Uncharted for being similar to them? You can't help but be somewhat comparible, yet Uncharted is leagues ahead of those other games.

Wow, what's up with Sony exclusive devs bashing on the 360? Wow, is this what they do all day? Find ways to poke at the competition, which is killing them?

That isn't making fun of Gears...it is reference to a joke from VGcats.

That's not bashing Gears, a ton of current gen games have been doing that. Pretty funny though, although it's sort of a waste of time for them to do that.

Strangely, vgcats made that comic not too long after Gears, if memory serves.

ND could just as easily be poking fun at Resistance. And seeing as how Insomniac and ND have strong ties I would lean in that direction. Besides, Gears was more of a gray while Resistance is all about the brown.

Naughty Dog poke fun at EPIC

Funny how any one of EPIC's games could destroy the whole pathetic Crash Bandicoot series.

Any PS3 game poking fun at Gears of War is a joke..When Naughty Dog produces a GOTY which we all know Uncharted is certainly not that, then they can run there mouth. And looking at what they stole from Gears of War in terms of combat and cover system they shouldn't be saying anything at all..

Seriously exclusive PS3 developers are a joke..

Bioware Mass effect the next GOTY.. oh and again.. ONLY ON THE 360 :D

I prob should've titled the thread "naughty dog pokes fun at next gen graphic trend."

But I wouldn't have gotten this many hits lol.

Ya know..gamespot may be onto something...usingcontroversy to generate hits.

wait wait

which game has more replay value and online ?

oh thats right gears does

Actually most people agree that Uncharted has more replay value. Gears does have online, but I wouldn't classify that as "replay value" unless you are refering solely to playing the same maps over and over.

One can only hope that you are refering to the Vivendi developed games. If so, then yes, the demo of UT2004 could blow away those pieces of trash by itself.

When Uncharted wins GOTY they can start talking smack, until then they need to hush and keep coding.
