Naughty Dog praises the Wii

Naughty Dog has worked on some pretty significant franchises such like Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Dexter, and most recently, Uncharted. While the company has been busy with the PlayStation 3 in recent years, the company will not be developing a Wii title anytime soon, as they are a subsidiary of Sony.

With that said, Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells appreciates the system. In an interview, Wells was asked if Naughty Dog has been considering motion control for the future. In his response, Wells discussed some of his feelings regarding the Wii and complemented some of its software.

"I think right for the genre that we're in? We really don't have any interest in using the motion control to do a third-person action game. If we were going to make a motion controller game, I think we'd want to tackle it from the bottom up and make sure that we were designing the game around the motion control, the way the best Wii games are designed. I'm not a Wii hater at all, in fact, it's probably one of my most played consoles in the house. I have a 3-year old son which might account for some of that [laughs], but I think Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort are some of the best experiences of this generation, honestly. They're immensely playable and competitive, and just great fun with a group of people in the same room. Yeah, I think the PlayStation audience is totally for it, in fact, I bet you there are lot of closet Wii owners in the PlayStation community. If there is some really good software for that motion controller, I think it can be a big, big success."

You think bungie has never played uncharted or GOW? To them they don't really care.

+1 respect for Naughty Dog

All that holds me back from getting the Wii is the new Zelda. I don't think the hardware justifies its price tag, no new Zelda no Wii for me.

You know, all the big game companies play and enjoy games from their competition. Just because they make games for PS3 doesn't mean they don't enjoy anything from the other companies. I remember when Nintendo praised LittleBigPlanet last year, and some Microsoft developers liked Super Mario Galaxy... I think they're much more respectful towards each other than the general public expects.

Wii Resort is horrible, I hated it.

Awesome. They show they are open minded and thoughtful.

They love making money like everyone else, thing that in the Wii would be much easier, so it those comments aren't strange at all.

Actually, Uncharted 2 is one of the games that needs good graphics to make you actually feel like you're in the game in my opinion.

Well of course, they are owned by Sony, if they just praised the Wii without a little bit of insulting they would've been hurled into the sun :P

You pretty much ask any developer what they think of The Wii and they will almost allways say they like it. This dosn't mean anything :x :cry:

That or something entirely ignorant. I mean lets face it, they arn't going to gain any respect saying it sucks, and for the most part the guy probably enjoys it. I doubt he's allowed to say much on 360 titles though, I don't know how strict they are with comments.
