I got my Netflix PS3 disc today so i just finished trying it out. Its a big step back from the 360 use of netflix and on top of that you have the inconvenience of having to disc swap but its not nearly as user friendly as it is on the 360, it takes forever for the movies to load the descriptions and what not. I also hate how you have to keep pressing right or left on the D pad to scroll, you cant just hold down right or left you actually have to press it multiple times.

I will definitley still be using the 360 for netflix, quite frankly Netflix on the PS3 is sort of a joke.. MAYBE if it didnt require a disc it would help ease the pain of using it on the PS3.

It's on Youtube, it's not bad at all.

The 360 has had the benefit of a year and it's installed. The PS3 will get all that in time, and an install is coming.

On the PLUS Side, PS3 owners don't have to pay for an annual service ($50 Xbox Live Gold) to access NETFLIX, that's good, right? :P

While this service is getting improved upon on both platforms, those movie loving PS3 owners have Blu-Ray as a back up, so that's another PLUS!

Plus, Some people do the service Hardwired on 360, and use WIFI on PS3, and that's going to possibly interfere as well.

Still, I would have expected this anyways, at least at first. When the 360 Netflix came out it wasn't as good as it is today, Time is all it takes.

EDIT 2012 : Turns out now Netflix is not only on PS3 installed, but it's better on PS3.

The PS3 version of NETFLIX supports Subtitles, 5.1 surround sound, and 1080p just for starters...but that's if you are willing to overlook AMAZING Blu-Rays of course. ;)

Of course, this troll was banned, and he didn't mean what he said so it doesn't matter...but if he did mean it, I imagine he's watching Netflix on PS3 today.

One other bonus? Netflix on 360 REQUIRES a PAID FORE GOLD XBLIVE membership. On PS3 accessing Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, or whatever is free. You do have to pay the fees associated with the Netflix though on either console.

The disc is only until the update isn't it?

It's a new system, given time it'll probably get better.

I don't have it so I haven't experienced it.

the disc really doesnt bother me, its just very clunky and slow and frankly ugly on the PS3.. Netflix is much much better on the 360 plus you have party features to watch shows with friends online. 360 will for sure by my main source for netflix

I heard the 360 one is currently implemented much better currently. Hopefully they'll bring it around on PS3.

Yes, Netflix already said the disc is just a work around until they can implement it into PSN. I'm guessing once it's implemented into PSN it will be exactly like it is on 360. Anyone test if you can use Netflix via Remote play yet?

What a surprise, the PS3 owners are waiting for something the 360 did a year ago. I don't understand why people put up with the hack and patch PS3. The exclusives aren't that good, really.

Erm, apaprently Netflix had some bumps when first impplemented into the 360. So it's no different here really, it sounds like they just wanted to get it out, before it was properly implemented.

I don't know why people put up with "die when I look at it 360", the hardware isn't that good really.

See what I did there ;)

I'm using it right now, and it works great. Since the disk is temporary until the firmware can be properly updated, I'm not fussed. It may not be the same as the 360 version yet, but it's better than having no Netflix at all.

I'm not waiting at all, I don't use Netflix.

If I did use Netflix, I would use it on my 360, and not wait at all.I prefer Blockbusters Service. I also buy A LOT Of Blu-Ray's.

As far as the Exclusives, I disagree though, the PS3 has great exclusives...and that's saying a lot with my 99,000 Gamerscore on my Xbox 360! I don't just guess that they are good, I KNOW the PS3 exclusives are good.

What a surprise, the 360 owners are waiting for a reason to hate the PS3 and mentally justify why they don't want a PS3. I don't understand why people put up with not having a fantastic Blu-Ray Playing game console for only $299 that plays amazing exclusives. Eh, I guess they love RROD, don't have a HDTV, or just like to under use their poor HDTV, oh well.

It's cool too, because if you let your XBOX LIVE GOLD EXPIRE to XBOX LIVE SILVER, you can't access Netflix. At least now you will have a PS3 FREE NETFLIX option.

Seriously, if someone is a movie buff with an HDTV, they are punishing themselves if they don't watch Blu-Ray's at all. My Brother Uses Netflix, and he has Blu-Ray shipped to his house, and he uses the Netflix streaming for old stuff. My point is any Movie Buff should appreciate what BOTH consoles offer.

I'm not from the US, so I don't know if any netflix is good or not. However, the Sky Service is supposed to be all right over here.

Which is funny since the 360 version was great right off the bat. 360 features don't need constant updating or patching to get them to the acceptable level..and people wonder why PSN is ridiculed. It's nice if you like sloppy seconds and after-thoughts.

Um no it wasn't. I remember reading how it was choppy, the picture quality was lower than even SD quality, etc.. And talking about after-thoughts "HDMI not needed" oh wait yes it is, want optical out need a dongle, want wifi another dongle, want rechargeable controller need a kit, etc... Want HD here's a format that nobody wants, etc...

No it wasn't. It was crap on 360 when it was first released. There was a whole ton of topics making fun of netflix on 360 saying how slow it was and how the quality of the movies were less than SD. The PS3 version is actually really fast. It depends on your connection.

I've been reading the impressions on other sites and they're saying the same thing like it loads slower and you can't edit your queue while using it and can't use the PS3 browser for activation purposes too, you'll still need to go on a computer for that.

It's not that bad, Of course The 360's version is better. The main reason i got the ps3 disc was to just check it out. It works just not as smoothly as i would have hoped, That might due to the fact that Verizon is throttling my Internet connection. But yea i watched some pink panther episodes without a problem :P

Them adopted more digital distribution distros is even more evidence that Sony isn't confident in their very own format. It was about time they stopped being so naive and realized that digital distribution is the way of the future like Microsoft did back in 2002. *Puts up Flame Shield*

Well if you put it that way Valve has led the charge back in 2003 With Digital distro. Way before MS has started distributing games over live.

I bought my consoles for gaming not movie watching. If i want to watch a movie, i do it on my second PS3 and its a Blu-Ray disc, anything less is unacceptable. How many of you actually use the netflix function? It cant be many so its irrelevant.

Seems like there are quite a few on 360, but not many on the PS3 since the first disks arrived today. I'm sure the end result with be millions of users.

Funny I watched a movie the first day Netflix came out on the 360 and the user interface was easy and probably miles better than the PS3 Netflix has going on now. You get what you pay for, you still are waiting for cross game chat, ill pay the 50 dollars thank you. Also 20 million subscribers say the same as me!

I know, but none of these guys ever said that... just ask them

I think it's a given that the 360's Netflix service should be more streamlined, feature-rich, and integrated to the system than the PS3's disc-based stop-gap netflix solution is on day one. Fanboys seem to be trying to squeeze a couple more ounces of ownage out of Netflix while they still can. The PS3 service will end up working as well as every other Netflix player on the market, and without a 50 dollar a year fee, like every other Netflix player on the market ... aside from the 360.

Still, I would have expected this anyways, at least at first. When the 360 Netflix came out it wasn't as good as it is today, Time is all it takes.

I'll take your word for it buddy! :) Also, I'm not waiting for anything on either of my TWO Xbox 360's. You must have missed my beautiful 99,000 Gamerscore there in my sig.

I love my 360's! I know I get what I pay for, I've spent well OVER $500 on XBOX LIVE over the years!:o

I guess those poor PS3 suckers will have to make due with that strange interface, I guess the lack of an annual fee to use Netflix on PS3 and Blu-Ray Movie Playback isn't enough to make up for this no-as-good-as-360 Neflix interface.

How sad for PS3 users, what is a MOVIE LOVER To do? .:(

Of course it is. The disc swapping sounds most annoying but by 2010 that will be fixed since this is just a temporary solution to get Netflix on the PS3 ASAP.

Also, it's free to access which is more then I can say NF on 360-- and does Blu Ray play a role in any of this?

Kennysolidsnake

do you recall a time when you had to go online to pick out themovies you wanted to watch on netflix for the 360. pressing the left or right button a couple times and having to insert a disc to watch a movie doesnt sound that bad.

I have both consoles and i usually watch netflix on 360 but my 360 is off to the repair center so i will have to use my ps3 now. The things you are complaining about dont sound that bad. having to package up my 360 and send it to the repair shop required alot more work.

[QUOTE="wdave92"][QUOTE="Vadamee"]Them adopted more digital distribution distros is even more evidence that Sony isn't confident in their very own format. It was about time they stopped being so naive and realized that digital distribution is the way of the future like Microsoft did back in 2002. *Puts up Flame Shield*

Well if you put it that way Valve has led the charge back in 2003 With Digital distro. Way before MS has started distributing games over live.

Valve doesn't make a console last time I checked and they aren't pioneering a digital medium either, so I don't see how your post was relevant to mine.

The disc based PS3 netflix is only a temporary solution, the actual netflix program on the PS3 will be much better.

Yes TC, because I totally buy a console solely for using netflix.
