New 360 RPG's to be unveiled next week

t's been a while since I've written one of these types of blogs. But yeah, I'm off to Japan for over a week to do that thing I do. What am I going to see? Well, the only thing I can disclose right now is that Microsoft is having a press conference in Shibuya next Tuesday, to show off its line-up of role-playing games. Yeah, on Xbox 360. Go figure. At least two of those will be Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery, but they apparently have some surprises up their sleeve. But that's only on Tuesday. I have meetings from Monday straight through to the following weekend, and those meetings are top-secret. I will say that all of these visits will benefit you, the reader, in both Electronic Gaming Monthly and on 1UP.1up

Sounds interesting to me...Star Ocean 4 and Cry On?

Apart from FF11, all main FF games have only been on one console (not counting handhelds and PC). I wouldn't bet on FF13 changing that trend.

I don't know it depends Square-Enix development times are getting longer and longer with each new main Final Fantasy game. It could happen but I don't see it.

I sure would. After all the times I have told my friends that a main Final Fantasy would never end up on another console, atleast not being done by Square. To my knowledge, the ones that appeared on PC were ported from developers other than Square, I may be wrong though.

I just feel Square Enix would never put their flagship title on a non-Sony console. They might give them KH3 or something else, but FF I highly doubt.

Yea, if it takes them the same amount of time to make the new FF games then I'd be surprised if they fit more than 14 on Ps3. But I read they were creating their own engine for 13 so hopefully things will be much easier after this one.

At the end of the day FF13 is going to bomb pretty badly on the PS3. Squareenix will either take the hit because they love sony so much (unlikely) or they'll spend a little extra money to port the game accross to the 360/PC more than doubling their sales and possibly even making a profit(more likely)

I personally think that there will be a FF14 this gen and if I were a betting man I would guess it'll be DS exclusive or multiplatform (I don't really see much chance of it one Wii)

Come on "son", the Playstation BRAND has been synonymous with JRPG. Yet the Playstation 3 has no exclusive JRPG's and is banking all of their success in the genre on just a few games.

The 360 is making moves and coming hard with a steady stream of JRPG's. PS2 was last gen.

No company actually loves another and money talks period why do you think Namco Bandai is giving most of their current gen games to the 360. Example Tales Of Vesperia was listed as 360/PS3 in Japan until Namco posted that Microsoft "secured" it. Sony is they're smart will pay to keep the main FF games exclusive and Square rarely ever does multiplatform and FF Online doesn't count.

FF12 sold about 5 million copies. FF13 is a lot more expensive to make (because to the hardware it is on) it is on a console with a fraction of the install base and it is on a console whose users don't buy many games

In order to make as much money aas their older games they have to sell more copies, they'll be lucky to sell half the amount of copies.

there's a very good reason for Namco supporting the 360 and that is idolmaster. The game is making them tons of money in Japan thanks to DLC

but they're not stupid. The DS is their main platform for the Tales series and they have 3 RPGs announced for the Wii as well as a flight sim and some other games. Titles like Tales of Vespariawill also come out on the Ps3 eventually because like I said Namco are't stupid

as for that final fantasy hasn't been good since 6 and tactics..

if 360 sales were decent in japan then maybe i could see FF13 going multiplat but from what ive seen they arent, but that still doesnt mean that another of squares games couldnt go multiplat - like the mentioned star ocean

personally i think the internets wouldnt collapse until FF and KH were aounced for 360

Why do cows act like FF is the be all end all of JRPGs? Anybody brings up a JRPG other that FF, cows go "dont care, its not FF." Honestly, you guys have such a massive collective boner for this series that you ignore anything else. you guys had Dragon Quest and Shin Megami Tensei all of last gen, and all you care about is FF?
