That looks pretty bad :(Taalon
Really? What are you expecting?
I think this looks great for the audience it's aimed at. And I'm pretty sure it would look even better running in your living room. But that's me.

It's a... unique game. Like Viva Pinata.
Which is awesome.
And a little not perfectly heterosexual :O
I love the cow hypocrisy for this game

Yes, it was definately the exact same Cows. It's not possible that some Cows like the look of this game and other Cows don't. Those blasted hypocrites.
Except, even with this game's not so stellar visuals, it still kills about every Wii game made.I love the cow hypocrisy for this game

Big difference.
And it's a lot easier to accept a "okay" looking casual game when you have killer hardcore games to play. It's not like you're stuck with them all looking mediocre.
LOL, as lame as I was expecting this game to be, after seeing that, it looks like it could be something different that would be fun to mess around with whenever you are not in the mood to play games that are all about killing as usual. It would be a nice addition to your library in order to provide a nice, laid back change of pace from the norm.
I, for one am going to keep and eye on it and see how it turns out. Nothing wrong with something that takes a different approach for a change. Looking a lot more interesting than I thought it would be.
I have to admit, there is some graphical areas that I expected to be more impressed with. Still, it's looking good to me.
They're definitely going in the right direction by giving the character freedom to traverse the environment. And the freedom is presented pretty well, use of vehicles the animations of the main character are very good (glad they nailed that area). The animation of the animals are top notch as well.

My aim is to get this game not for myself but for the casuals that are in my home. I think my wife, son, niece, or any other "casual" will have ablast with this. Especially the little ones.
I can't imagine being a kid and getting my hands on something like this. Would be sweeeeet.
who ever says these graphics look meh are in serous damage control. the animations looks so good plus the lighting is one of the best i have seen. not even fables 2 trees look as good as this game. lol it has twice as many leaves on it.
but really the lighting looks so reel. the detail in his pants looks great as well. i have never seen animals so detailed ever in a game.
heck this game is going to use the cell efficiently because sony used this game from day one to show off the cell.

Hell, I am 31 and it appeals to me for the "different" factor alone. I just think it might offer up a breath of fresh air from time to time, whenever you are not in the mood for the usual. Yet, you can still tell that it is a work in progress, but it looks interesting, to say the least.

I bet it will have a night vision attachment for your camera where you can lay back and get shots of scenarios like hyenas trying to sneak up and steal a lions kill, lol. An interactive Discovery channel game.
pokemon snap anyone?omarguy01
I wouldn't know about Pokemon Snap from personal experience, but I would think despite any similarities it may have in taking photos, the realistic, in the wild vibe of Afrika sets it apart completely from anything Pokemon related.
why is he wearing a wolly hat in the barking africa sun? I smell cutting corners (if he didnt have a hat on they would have to make his hair look good) and whats with the walking on water?richest_boy
They were able to make the hair on animals look realistic, so why could they not do it to the player? And did it ever occur to you that maybe it was a shallow pool of water that the player was running through?

LOL, who knows? Design choice maybe? Or maybe there are options that let they player customize the look of the character and headwear is available if you like? Other than that, it is just a game, therefore, I do not think that they are going to take into consideration that the fictional player that they created might be getting too hot.
As far as the water scene that makes it looks as if he is walking on water, lol. It is obvious that it is just a shallow pool of water, as they would not leave such a glaring flaw like that in the game. Or better yet, maybe it is Ryu Hyabusa who retired after NG II was completed, and he decided to travel to Africa in order to take up a new hobby in photographing animals. Either that or Jesus has returned in the guise of a photographer.

Yeah in a way it gave me the same feeling that a video of Endless Ocean did:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMxdGb1jrQM
The first time I saw that part with the whale I was like: Swimming in deep ocean is going to be interesting.

sorry to bust your bubble, but endless ocean on the Wii had some incredible models for the animals. Some (such as the Whale Shark) look almost life like and have such fluid movements that could hold their own if Afrika was put side by side with it. What I'm getting at is I'd expect ALOT more from the PS3 when there's not too much going on on the screen like there is in Afrika.
In short, that game looks VERY unimpressive and it's really sad that some cows think that that looks amazing.

Here we go with the game in y console is better looking than x console... Like I said before, there is some areas that I could agree, but I'm still definitely impressed by it.
And yes, Endless Ocean is definitely a very good looking game. It doesn't fit into the myth that everything on the Wii looks horrible. And no, I wouldn't say that Afrika looks better than it at this point, but then again, with that said, I think that even Endless Ocean type graphics would be satisfactory on a console like the 360 or PS3.
Regardless of any type of comparison, I still came impressed from the video.
