The Bat's final nighttime adventure is tempting. Thanks to the beefier processors and larger pools of memory of the PlayStation 4 and the XBOX ONE, RockSteady has managed to create a dynamic and expansive world. Lightening brightens the skies and the light of neon signs reflects off wet pavement and asphalt, illuminating the streets. Remnants of Gotham City's populace, that is to say random thugs and the henchmen of The Dark Knight's enemies, roam about and wreak havoc, all the while Gotham's hero soars through the skyline of what he has declared his domain, his cape fluttering in the wind and his gaze focused on the chaos beneath him. Maddened by what has become of his beloved city, the Caped Crusader descends from lofty heights, lowering himself to the abode of the lesser ones. As a god dismayed by unrighteousness, he disciplines an ignoble bunch, striking them with his fists, elbows, knees, and feet, knocking them all unconscious.
Once more, he leaps back to the heavens, but for only a short time, for his chariot has come. Just as it passes beneath him, he falls back toward the earth and into its seat, and makes his way further into the depths of what has become hell. Eventually, after an intermediary return to the heavens, he rides his carriage to the only remaining stronghold of Gotham's archangels, which also serves as a dungeon for captured sinners. He studies and chastises some of those who have been imprisoned and then begins his return to the chaos without the fortress to continue his imposition of justice.
