New Grand Poll incoming - POLL NOW REVEALED (see 2nd post)

So System Wars, are you ready for a new Grand Poll of multiple rounds of voting? I'm sure most of you are familiar with my contests where the community votes for a Best Of, spanning several weeks and in various categories. It's match ups of contender vs contender with the winner passing through to the next round. You probably remember voting for Best New IP of the Gen, Gaming's Lady of the Gen, and the Best Game of All Time.

So what is it this time? A best of a gaming title? Best of a genre? Best story, soundtrack, developer? Most memorable boss fight, or a new kind of character battle?

Not so fast. Before I reveal what this new multi stage contest will be, I'm calling upon you to help decide the opening roster for the 64 contenders. In the past there's always been questions about how each entry got the starting position it had, and so on. While I always set out to randomize the process, the consipiracy theories are inevitable.

Which is why this time, YOU will help decide how each contender gets its starting slot in the first round. How? It's actually very simple. Just make a post with the following line, "My name is _______ and I submit the number __". What that number is can be what ever you like, just make it between 1 and 64. But some other guidlines to keep in mind.

* Only one number submission per user.
* If someone already submitted the number in a post before yours, change it to another.
* I and no other moderator can submit a number, for reasons that will have to be explained later. It's up to the rest of you.

Once all 64 numbers are taken in, by 63 different users (the last number doesn't require a submission) we move on to the next phase. How I'll use the numbers the community submits, well I'll explain that in due course ;)

So what's the key to the number selections? It's really simple. The numbers are being listed in the order they're brought in, and the list of candidates for this poll is all alpabetical, according to what the subject/theme is. Which means they won't be sorted alphabetically in the final roster. You can think of this as a pre-game planning stage that you're all participating in. or at least the first 63 in.

Looking at the first 6 numbers we have so far, which is 1, 2, 34, 15, 46, 64 - when placed side by side with the alphabetcal contenders list, indicates which spot that entry will take for it's first round position. That means the contender which would be third by alphabetical listing will actually have spot #34, the next one after then gets spot #15, the one after to be in spot#46, and so on.

As you are filling out the list of numbers in what order they come on, you have no idea what item (of the given subject/theme) you're assigning to that opening spot. While I know what the list of items are, cannot predict or have any control over where they'll end up. Just gotta complete the list of numbers (I'll keep updating the OP from time to time), and then you'll all know what you assigned to where :)

I think that actually makes it more complicated. I look at the list of numbers sorted in ascending order, then back to see who posted in what order, and resort. My way is just creating the list as it comes on and it's already complete when the last number is submitted. To take care of confusion/conflicts, I'm now updating the OP.
