Some of those screens are absolutly horrible. :?Cedmln
All the Halo 3 shots look like that when in first person for some reason, they look like the clear screenshots in the actual game.
I didn't know Halo 3 was on Wii.:?
Nah, I've seen HD vids and I've played the beta. It looks damn good to me. :)
nice job increasing the size to reduce the resolution. pathetic.THE_Rob_Himselfactually he increased the resolution.
? Is that Halo 2 PC, cause 3 does not do that resolution on 360.MIYAMOTOnext007
Halo 3 exports the Screenshots in 1080p.

Actually he did neither, those are the direct shots from IGN. Now the thing is for some reason the shots like those are all fuzzy in stills, but in motion it looks like the non fuzzy ones. The beta shots were the exact same way.

That's true, he's right. It's the same on IGN. Wtf? Bad pics or does it really look like that? Halo 3 isn't supposed to be in 1080p, is it? Those pics are at 1920x1080.

Halo 3 exports the Screenshots in 1080p.
Why doesn't it just dump it from the framebuffer? Instead of taking the screenshot at a higher resolution than the game actually runs at? Seems pretty misleading >_>..

http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/734/734817/imgs_1.htmlGo look at them yourself.
where does that link say you increased the resolution?
and IGN obviouslt doesnt know how to make images bigger. because if played halo 3. and it doesnt look like that.
everybody already knows what halo3 really looks like; so these shots shouldnt make you question anything other then how ign takes screenshotslawlessx
This isn't good though. IGN is one of the biggest gaming websites out there. A lot of people are going to look at those pics, especially since they just came out today. And they're horrible. They do no service whatsoever to Halo 3. Pics can be a big deal, especially to the average consumer. The types that look at the back of the box before considering purchase.

They're probably upscaled 1080p screenshots dumped directly from the framebuffer.
Notice how the screenshots that look pixelated are IN-GAME. Whereas the ones that don't look pixelated were obviously taken in screenshot (demo playback maybe?) mode.
They ARE representative of what the game looks like, when upscaled from 720p to 1080p. Pixelation is bound to occur in the process of upscaling. At least, they're more representative of what the game looks like than the screenshots taken in screenshot mode.

Why wouldnt you want it to take bigger and more clear shots? You're going to be able to upload it to bungie.net and use it for sigs, wallpapers, avatars, whatever.

Thats because the only good ones are from the photo edit thing which makes it look better then in game. You can clearly tell the in game pics because they are complete trash.

No both are ingame, the non pixelated ones are taken with the saved films feature. Im not too sure why it pixelates like that for the first person view shots since it doesnt look that bad ingame, the same thing happend to the shots during the beta.

I meant for promotional shots. It's misleading to take screenshots of the game at a higher resolution than the game actually runs at. I say this, even though I know developers do it all the time. It's just annoying when I notice it.
Is this a another failed attempt to make Halo 3 graphics look bad? I mean you can just watch the videos and see that the graphics are actually good. They're not spectatcular compared to other shooters out there, but it is still a beautiful game.
How desperate can the TC get by posting bad screenshots?
What the heck did IGN do...the beta looked WAY better than that.o_O Why did they enlarge them so.The game looks really bad in some of these pics, I've gotta say:

justforlotr2004
Again, the pixelation is probably from upscaling to 1080p. On the same size screen you won't see any visual detail difference between 720p and 1080p, if your television supports both. An upscaler can't create more detail through mere interpolation.
In framebuffer dumps though, a 720p screenshot will look MUCH smoother than an upscaled 1080p screenshot, due to the pixelation caused by upscaling.

Yeah that makes sense, but anyway the clear shots look great imo and it looks like a fun map. Plus they said after a certain ammount of time of playing on it something happens, I wonder what that is.

What the hell? I'm not so sure now.
How does that even happen for a 720p screenshot? o_O It's not like image compression has anything to do with it. It's a framebuffer capture problem. That's weird.

Yeah, it doesnt look as bad as the 1080p shot but it still has the same problem. Anyway theres nothing to worry about, the game will look crisp when playing.
