January 20th? Much sooner than expected. Have we even heard anything about this game in the past year?
I think it was announced quite a while ago (<1 year, i think). As for hearing anything; no, not really lol.
Looks great though, really has the art direction and style of the original games

I'm surprised too.
No they didn't share anything and now releasing the game. They only held one conference, where they talked about the engine and how they are using different camera techniques to enhance storytelling etc. Hopefully it's not being rushed by GearBox.
Gearbox ain't publishing or developing this game. Blackbird are self publishing, just purchased a licence from Gearbox so don't worry :)
Good to know!

Gearbox did their part with Homeworld with that excellent Homeworld Remaster.
It's up to the Ex-Relic developers to make this a good game with the resources that's been given to them. But the game looks solid so far despite the land based combat, I just hope the game can hold up without the 3D movement which is a big part that made Homeworld's micromanagement and strategic layer really great.
All the best for the studio. Hope they just dont turn into another Petroglyph, who has proven several times that Westwood were always mediocre and just couldnt keep up with the competition.
Frankly, I'm happy that 3D movement is gone. It was pain in the ass sometimes.
I liked Grey Goo. It isn't the best RTS ever but campaign was fun. Don't care much about multiplayer these days though.
Same, haven't gotten into multiplayer in RTSs, and I've been playing them since Dune II. That's why I love Homeworld I and II so much: amazing singleplayer.
I hope they get the original narrator; that old man had the best voice, like a village elder telling stories around the campfire.

And that music! So great, amazing Adagio for Strings, and other songs.
Adagio for Strings I remember that opening seen, when you get back and see your people under attack. As close to crying as I've ever come while playing a video game
Turanic Raiders I believe this is the music that accompanies your first encounter with an enemy: really instills a sense of dread, as you essentially fled into this area you knew nothing about, and all of sudden this crazy tribe of, I don't know, space savages, come out of the void and this tribal drum beat and wailing instrument takes over.
Kharak System then you have the complete opposite, this Arab-sounding kind of music that makes you feel like an explorer; cautious, but hopeful, daring yourself to peek over the horizon.
Swear to god, Homeworld is one of my favorite games. Ever. Can't wait to see what they're doing with this one. Even if it's bad, I will still be happy they aren't doing nothing with the IP.
