Heavy Rain will go head to head with Alan Wake next year.Hitman533My thoughts exactly. Both are being boasted as graphical powerhouses. And both are mystery-thriller oriented.
It looks really good, but it's a 8 hour game according to the devs, so umm... yea, I'll rent itJackDaniels121Thats only if you use one character and don't replay it to see other alternatives and lets other characters die. This game looks awesome but hey its a spiritual successor to Fahrenheit of course it'll be awesome.
its buffering, but ZOMG ! looks awsome !!
and many people thought that the PS3 couldn't do that kind of gfx :o !!
i have a question...
if its said that the PS3 GPU is not that powerful, how can it produce such gfxs like these ? :o just wondering
That video was running to slow on my computer, so I didn't watch it.
But I did find something of interest in the article...
"- No loadings in the game!"
Really? For a graphical powerhouse like Heavy Rain, that seems pretty difficult for the devs to pull off. But if they do cut out load times, props to them.

I'm going to awnser the same awnser the ps3 do not depnd to much on the gpu because the CPU or the cell can process grafics and phisics like a graffic card so the GPu is used as a cache or just to help the CPU do their joib. The PC and the 360 works diferently thats why you see ports od the 360 looks bad on the ps3 but games on made good on ps3 look good to on the 360 because is easiier to port a game fromthe ps3 to 360 but extreamly dificult to port a game that already depends on to much RAM to be ported on the ps3 because it need to be reprogrammed almost completly.i have a question...

thingis, the gameplay u are seeing of heavy Rain is on the ps3.... the stuff you see about alan wake is on a PC.. NOT THE 360.
looks horrible imoMkavanaugh77Either you're being sarcastic or you have a damn good prescription for fanboy goggles.

That's the same guy who said that WKC would also be coming out for the Xbox 360,so if I was you I wouldn't pay him any attention.
I don't think I'm going to like it. With heavy rain all I've been hearing is how amazing the graphics are, yes, they look very good but what about the gameplay?
I'm still not even sure what genre this goes into, but for some reason it reminds me a lot of those old mystery/detective games that used actual real world videos and you more or less clicked your way through it. While of course Heavy Rain isn't going to be like that, I'm worried that they will have put so much effort into the visuals that the gameplay itself will be low quality.
I like good graphics as much as the next guy, but I want my graphics to be secondary to my gameplay, not the other way around.
On a side note, I hated how her voice sounded in the first video I saw. It was just so annoying.
he is not being sarcastic at all

ooo i get it now ! :)
looks horrible imoMkavanaugh77Have you ever played Indigo Prophecy(Fahrenheit) If you have you'll love this. It doesn't look horrible but I understand why some won't be interested.
Heavy Rain looks awesome and it's PS3 Exclusive. Alan Wake is coming for the PC and the 360, I wonder if it will brick a lot of Xbox's when it comes out. :Pthingis, the gameplay u are seeing of heavy Rain is on the ps3.... the stuff you see about alan wake is on a PC.. NOT THE 360.

This is amazing footage. From what the speaker was telling the crowd (I'm a native French speaker), everything is interactive, and by everything, even down to the cutscenes (with very small non-interactive events that rarely occur).
About the cutscenes : only a few of those scenes were actual non-interactive cutscenes. The rest that looked like "quicktime events" were actually controlled by the player herself. you can still move the head and shift your character, as well as in certain situations, change your position and move during those "cutscene" looking areas, as they aren't actual cutscenes, but in-game scenes that carry a cinematic point of view (so people might mistake it for being a non-interactive button-masher-quicktime-promt-screen event, when in fact the player is actually moving the person from place to place trying to find an exit). What people don't realize by watching this video, is that the cinematic quality of the camera angles is at such a high caliber they start to believe the whole thing just may be scripted : it shows how much quality has been put into this demo, and the final game will hold many, MANY different outtakes on the same scene. Props to Quantic Dream for doing such a feat!
Regarding character movement : it is handled by the R2 trigger to move in the direction of the head's orientation (which is in turn, controlled by the left analog stick). Doing so, the speaker says, allows the player to maintain the same direction in movement flow despite the different camera angles that may shift suddenly during, for example, sneak missions or rush events.
Finally, everyone who has played Indigo Prophecy will understand just from the tech demo that this game will be a real gem amidst the shooters and typical games of this and even past generations. It is, essentially, as the studio intends it to be, a breakthrough in narrative storytelling in a videogame (far surpassing MGS4), and it will reinvigorate the entire detective & mystery genres for its quite revolutionary gameplay mechanics.
The speaker finally says that they have not focused entirely on graphics, but rather on story. For this reason, the demo on its own has been confirmed to not even be in the game : it is nothing more than an in-game representation of the game engine rendering the final Heavy Rain in real-time. Even the main character won't be present in Heavy Rain. For the sake of protecting its story from spoilers, the studio resorted to building an original short-story simply to demonstrate the graphics and gameplay engine that they have developed for their game, coming out exclusively on the Playstation 3.
Hope this helps!
I wanna get a PS3 just for this game alone, save the Blu-Ray player feature.
Definitely my most anticipated game once Tomb Raider: Underworld releases.

Lol, my thoughts too. I'm looking forward to both. I just wanna see some gameplay from Alan Wait :P. I just finished watching the presentation for Heavy Scripted Events and I'm VERY impressed. It was tense and looked fun.
