Its not a Spinoff , its a prequal which means youll find out what happened prior to to Kingdiom Hearts 1

Square showed off a trailer for Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, a prequel to the original title. What's more, there were demo stations that fans could get their hands on two levels of the game.

It appears as though Maleficent, the wicked witch from the Sleeping Beauty tale, plays the primary role of the bad buy in Birth by Sleep, as her machinations appear to be driving the Heartless together to cause a great disaster. In the midst of this disaster, a Keyblade master named Xehanort and his apprentice disappeared. With the events appearing to spiral out of control, another Keyblade master sends his three apprentices to look for the missing warriors. However, it appears that these characters will go through a number of new worlds as it sets up the events for the first Kingdom Hearts title. Two of these appear to be the lands of Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, the latter of which is one of the Princesses of Heart. It's possible that Birth by Sleep will explain the kidnapping of these princesses, as well as point out Sleeping Beauty's role, but that was unknown from the trailer.

Looks B-E-A-utiful. Shame that we won't get it till '09 cause its my second most anticipated title only behind Fable 2. But I guess I can wait.

Hopefully I can get a PSP by the time this is out. I have a DS but 358/2 days looks like the real spin-off unlike Birth By Sleep. And I'm a big KH fan, if what has been said of the story is true, I can already feel the nostalgia.

It may be chronologically "before" the first ever games. However this isn't the main game I'd say either. It's not the next in the series or developing the story aside from giving plot filler and fan service like say "Clone Wars" is to the Star Wars Trilogy or something.

Also Nomura himself said these were "spin-offs" too

the portable titles will have side storys or "Gaidens" if you will that really are just filler for fans. It's nothing that will add to the main series much more or rather it's nothing the games can't live without. Like Chain of Memories on GBA was a spin off. Sure it lead the story into KH II, but you didn't have to play KH CoM to know or get everything or even feel left out in KH II.

The Portable games are just the same way

Has there been any mention of The Beauty and the Beast getting their own REAL world storyline yet? I was severly disappointed by Kingdom Hearts II in that respect.

To this day, Beauty and the Beast remains my favorite film. As a kid, I hated Gaston with a fiery passion. I want to beat the living **** out of him with a keyblade.:evil:

Nomura needs to do me a huge favor and reimagine "Be Our Guest" in 3D form. I was satisified with the Ballroom in KH2 though.

Wierd Al was popular in Japan. I dont think he spoke Japanese. Scatman was pretty popular too.
