New level in UC:GA. Best combo of off-screen footage+gfx I've seen in sometime.

This is a strange one but, the latest demo shown off for Uncharted: Golden Abyss is one of the best of screen footages (for a video game) I have seen in quite some time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bd-3s0PtTp0&hd=1

I have seen stuff for console and PC shown off screen and it could have been the best game graphically but, the display glare kind of killed it. It appeared as if there was ambient lighting in the room but, the gfx (lighting, texture work, etc) all displayed on the PS Vita's OLED really presented the game well visually nonetheless.

. . . I can not help but wonder another time where off-screen impressed me so much. I will try not to think about that too much. Yes, this matches SW criteria. I mentioned other platforms (and how they look). xD

I'll wait to see it for myself before passing judgment, but it does look pretty damn good.

Graphically it looked good for a handheld. I didn't like the look of those touch controls, are they optional?

At E3 I'm pretty sure they said it's optional.

Ohk, that's good, seems like it would be much easier just to use the normal controls :P

I should clarify, I did not record that video. Credit to whoever uploaded it though. :)

Also, this is more of a finalized product from an event, probably taken place in Spain (juding by the uploaders rekated video titles). It is a new level in the demo which had not been seen before at previous events. I know because of the fact I have seen so many demoes they kind of blur together.

Sony Bend (the creators of this version) called the touch technique of climbing from palce-to-place "painting edges".

I actually think it seems ok when scaling up than going to more traditional analog stick controls when going up over the edge (to get ready for combat and stuff).

It is prefference. I am glad they just give the option for that. Other stuff needs touch and it is more like a quicktime event thing (i.e. using a machete for slashing through a cloth fort) so, it is quite easy to swipe and follow directions in those instances.

From my memory, they wanted to give you a variety of options for controls because of all the stuff Vita has that they can use for it. So yes.

It looks great for a handheld game, but if I recorded footage off a 50 inch TV from 10 feet away I'm sure it would look amazing too.

I have seen footage like that recorded of some really high quality TV's (like the best from CES events and such) but, that just kind of sticks out in mind as being the best of the best. Which makes me both laugh and think about why that is. I dunno.

I could see some people not liking touch, tbh. Developers will test try over and over but, not a lot of people that expected a full on console like experience will like touch. Just like DS, people will need to get used to it and (fortunately) I will not need to move my hand to far.

That was my thing with the stylus (on the DS), I am left handed and hated playing the DS because I needed to juggle things. With the PS Vita it just use either thumb and my hands are always in the proximity of the PS Vita controls. I really like the design because it is ambidextrousfriendly and super ergonomic.

There are a few people that do like the story lines of these franchises and look forward to the PS Vita versions. From a visual and story stand-point, many of these games can deliver a great time. In particular,Sony Bend has worked on other franchises (with the PSP) and received a lot of good praise. Now, Bend is working on Uncharted for the PS Vita so, there is a lot of expectations for the game to be as good as a Naughty Dog title and history shows, the games has a chance of being as good as its console counterpart.

Oh, you mean like those "demos" whitch are not really demo's but games trailers on a disc/card? Those are very deceiving. xD

This is the real deal. Looked very good and the touch response actually handheld quite well.

I like using the analog sticks/nubs but, I look at touch (in this case) from the perspective of not needing to put tension on your thumbs when it is not needed.

When it comes to melee and all that, I will def only use the analog stick and action buttons. Even though there are optionial action to swipe in a melee battle, I will go for action buttons because that is when I would want a tactile response from the controller.

Traditional control schemes are all still there but, Sony Bend is just opening up the option to more novice gamers (i.e. those that play on mobile devices).

Sony Bend is one of the reasons why I'm excited. I had a blast with the Syphon Filter games and Resistance : Retribution (which was just ACE) :)

There was a rumor about Sony Bend developing an all new Syphon Filter for the PS Vita.
