Thank god it's still a work in progress. MADVLAD123
No it's not its coming out next week
But yea it looks great....
the car models are awful. Forza 2 did the models much better. and what is the deal with both those games having no texture on the tires?Gzus666
WORK IN PROGRESS
Why whould the downgrade the car models from the last game?

don't be so defensive about the game. It doesn't look that good really.

it aint gonna get much better, every "work in progress" i have seen, where they released videos close to release (within a year or so) they havent got much better, sometimes worse.

Answer this question? Isn't the point of a sequel is to look better than the predecessor?
It's gonna get better haters will be owned...

i dont remember saying anything about other PGR games, i merely said its ugly compared to Forza 2, and it aint going to get much better. next time try reading before responding, it saves me time having to explain it again

I was trying to make a point.....what you're doing is making assumptions about a game that isn't gonna releasd in another 5 months...
If you don't say wow at the 18 second mark..you're seriously kidding yourself.
And how exactly do the 'snow effects' need work? Do you need to see the snowflake patterns or something?
I was vastly disappointed. Hyping this thread with the word beautiful and I saw nothing special.

Doubt those snow effects a real time when you're in driving seat view. It's just more random drops and it doesn't even look like it's gliding off the windshield like real snow.
Until driving game weather effects achieve a level portrayed by this video, then I won't be impressed by anything like that.

An excerpt from the new PGR4 interview:
Other than snow or rain falling down, what kind of visual effects will we see as a result of the weather?
Ben Ward: You'll see reflective puddles (or shiny puddles if they freeze over), rooster tailing when driving through them, beading on the vehicle bodywork, splashing on the windscreen (along with working wipers), and beading on the external camera views. You'll also see the cars get wetter or covered in snow as the race progresses.
From the man himself..But even besides that, you're going to act like you never saw this pic (of the effect you're describing)?
That Kaido intro rain effect on the car doesn't look realistic at all by the way. Its not convincing in the slightest.
What you're doing is focusing on the drops (which we can't even see falling clearly in real life) and not the actual visual effect of the car looking like its actually in the rain. Lighting, reflections..those are what make it look convincing..not detailed "raindrops."
I'm sure when the actual cockpit view is shown (not the brief backseat view shown in the video..which was amazing) it will once again wow the whole industry like PGR3 did.
You must've not owned a car and gave it a decent rainproof polish. Raindrops do bounce off it like that. Heck they bounce off my Goretex Jacket and bead like that.
That picture doesn't even show rain bouncing or collective puddles of rain on the car as rain should. And cars going 200mph are not going to have rain drops on the hood like that. They don't stick for a second in one spot.
And if you seen the video and its lackluster quality rather than some mockup close up portraits, you see the rain effect when the car drives through doesn't even show 4wheel upspray of water, just some cloudy mist like a generic graphic effect.
looks good. love how they are really implanting weather effects. better be some kickA^$ 4wd vehicles for the snow.
i hope the environment visuals look that good and better for the final product.

Dude..the rain effect in the Kaido video you posted was bad.. get over it. It's almost equivilent to the scene in Hero when Jet Li ran through the huge raindrops in slow motion. It looks stupid. It would make some sense if the car was stationary, and it wasn't. You walk 2 miles an hour, genius..of course it bounces off your Goretex.

 First of all..if youre familiar with how devs take screenshots (which you're obviously not)..you would know that that pic is a freeze frame (see: the first PGR4 trailer..they pretty much show you how they take screens in the first 20 seconds).
Second of all..if people like you are going as far as to say "raindrops don't behave like that in real life" about a GAME..then that is a testemant to how impressive the game looks. You literally have no other point of reference other than real life..because there is no other racing game that is doing it like PGR4 even in its unfinished state.
I mean damn..did you complain that there was no graffiti or trash in NY for PGR3?

Again, thats your gripe after seeing the video? You couldnt see "4 wheel upspray?" How trivial can you be, really..especially when there isn't even an angle or shot where you would notice if there was 4 wheel upspray.
In the interview, Ben mentions 2 other more dynamic rain settings (heavy rain and storm)..so you'll probably get your 'upspray' after all (not that you'd care anyway..you'd just say you want smell-o-vision at that point).
